Nope. Well am in bed but still MNetting away!

DW and WM are full steam ahead downstairs, for some reason it doesn't bother me them being on overnight, it's just them being on when we're out of the house. Maybe because if they caught fire then I could do something about it if you see what I mean - call the fire brigade etc and hopefully minimise the damage. To be honest I suspect that it's all OCD anyway. Drives DH up the wall!

By the way, blackcat is your car fixed now?

Scout1975 - dare you to do some Flying in your in-laws house! :)

Sorry for all those whose posts I've missed - for some reason there suddenly seem to be a lot more posts from time when I know that I've checked and there weren't any.

BlackCatTryingToFly · 20/01/2012 22:44

Hi cairn, yes my car is working o.k. now (Touch wood). I had to get the breakdown people out to it and they charged it up with their battery charging Thing . They said it was something to do with the heating that might have shorted it out.

Anyhow, I really ought to go to bed now or I won't be any use tomorrow, especially if DD doesn't sleep well!.

"See" you all tomorrow. Smile

Dlamis · 20/01/2012 23:03

cairn/blackcat - why on earth do you think you have upset anyone.?Get out of the naughty corner right now :o

I hope you didn't think I was being funny (in a nasty way) with my croissant recipe. Shock I was just making fun of myself for being a lazy lump when it comes to baking/cooking.

Dlamis · 20/01/2012 23:05

Night ladies.

carrotsandcelery · 20/01/2012 23:09

Ha ha! What is going on? Shock I was highly entertained by the croissants and the wm/dw thing is a valid thing to think through - I think so anyway.

I have just spent ages reading about the 15 kids and counting families. Sorry to go on about it but I am fascinated. The mother of 15 does 5 loads of washing a day, cooks home cooked meals every day, does all her own cleaning (the dcs do their own rooms sometimes) etc. There is an article here for anyone else as in awe as me.

I feel really scummy now Blush Blush

Dlamis we have always been a bit short on bookspace in this house, but we have had to keep decluttering our books to make way for DD1s & she now has more space than us. TBH she reads more than us, so I guess it's fair enough. Every 6months or so I go through & look to check that I would actually like to read all my books again, if not, they get charity shopped.

bessie26 · 21/01/2012 00:03

OMG! - the 15 kids lady does all her own cleaning & laundry?

BlackCatTryingToFly · 21/01/2012 04:35

Just had a look at that article, Shock

BlackCatTryingToFly · 21/01/2012 04:40

bessie The firemen in our town come round once a year Wink they do a safety check and make sure everyone has a smoke alarm.
I'm quite glad they do as it puts my mind at rest a bit more. I have always been worried about fires since my neighbours house caught fire when I was about 8 years old. I still remember things from that night all these years later. Sad

liveinazoo · 21/01/2012 05:46

i dont get upset easily but do tend to joke about things.if thats taken as im offended.im sorry

i too have afireman visit once a year to check smoke alarms...last time came one had stopped and they had to change it(has a lithium battery).

bessie ive just checked the thread and you said something about a croissant recipe..did i miss a post for that or am i just having a thick moment!

blackcat why are you posting at such an antisocial hour?are you too an insomniac or just being disturbed by kids etc

cairnterrier · 21/01/2012 07:25

Morning all!

Epic fail at the croissants - forgot to take the stupid things out of the freezer even after all the palava! I despair of myself sometimes.

Have just read that article - wow!! Wonder if she leaves her DW and WM on when they're out of the house? I mean how much washing must she do everyday. And she hoovers each floor at least twice daily, puts me right to shame.

Now how does one organise an annual visit from some nice young firemen? Is it considered bad form to remove all the batteries from the smoke detectors thus enforcing use of a ladder? Hmmmm

Ta-dahs:
got a lie in until 0650 courtesy of DS- hurrah!

To dos:
up and dressed
unload DW
put next load in WM
hotspot kitchen windowsill
do supermarket shop

Anyone else's plans?

Scout19075 · 21/01/2012 07:49

carien MrScout has a room here at his inlaws. We still use it and store presents, etc, in it. It needs a clear out, too, and I'm already on it. Grin As I've said before MrScout is a hoarder it verges on embarrassing sometimes. Oh the crap stuff he has. Unfortunately, though, since we're leaving Sunday and not Monday I can't get some of it out but I tell my MiL which bags/boxes are to go and she does it when MrScout's out of the house. Oh the shame. BlushGrin

Toddler's woken up in good form.

To add to the number of kids convo -- my dad was one of 16. A friend from high school was the youngest of 16. Another friend from high school was the 3rd of 10. From what I can gather my dad's family ran much more smoothly than my friends' families did. The friend who was one of ten used paper products for every meal which always shocked me.

My grandfather, who liked cooking, had it down to miliary precision. Oh the gallons and gallons of milk they'd go through in a day! They had one refrigerator dedicated to milk. I remember going to Thanksgiving there (they lived in different part of the country than we did) and all of the kids went home with their spouses/girlfriends/boyfriends and kids (and this is before all of my cousins were born) and there were close to 40 of us. It was overwhelming and fabulous at the same time.

What's interesting is in my family none of the 16 have more than three children. Only my dad has three. Most of them are childless, two have two and three have one.

On my weekend to do list:
Seniors -- financials
Seniors -- emails
Seniors -- supply ordering
banking
post office
card writing
uploading pictures
updating presents spreadsheets
menu planning & grocery list
diary entries

I can't wait to get home and continue the decluttering!

Scout19075 · 21/01/2012 07:50

Sorry, cairn, I spelled your name wrong. Blush

cairnterrier · 21/01/2012 07:56

No worries, think I missed a '0' out of your name before so we're all quits! Have a great time at your PiLs and good luck with getting rid of MrScout's stuff.

Scout19075 · 21/01/2012 08:09

Just call me Scout, it's easier. Grin

bessie26 · 21/01/2012 08:09

Morning! Has anyone got a steam mop?

babystep 21 - read more stuff on the website

BlackCatTryingToFly · 21/01/2012 08:11

Morning all, Zoo DD woke me up as she has had a bad cough and cold this week. I did manage to get another couple of hours sleep after that though so not too bad this morning. Smile

Dlamis · 21/01/2012 09:02

Envy of cairns 6.50am lie in. Ds's had me up at 5.50am!!!.

Dh's turn for a lie in this saturday so after a week of ds's sleeping in till 7.30-8.00 on a school morning, I thought i'd get a nice little one too, but oh no, up at 5.50 they were.
Just wait till tomorrow when it's dh's turn to get up, they'll sleep in till 8.00am again.

bessie26 · 21/01/2012 09:16
Scout19075 · 21/01/2012 10:02

What is this thing called "lie in" that you speak of?

(I miss sleep.)

carrotsandcelery · 21/01/2012 11:51

Hello everyone! I thought I had better pop in before it was afternoon. I am glad we have all been evicted from the naughty corner. I am still not sure how we ended up in there Hmm but it was quite a good laugh while we were there Grin

I have been up and about early (although not as scary early as you lot) as dd had an early activity. She absolutely loved it so I suspect we will be up early on Saturdays quite often.

I have also done a Tesco shop but not put it away yet (I am just in).

Dh commented last night about how nice it was to see the house improving again. It is lovely to be noticed. Smile

He has done the dishwasher and recycling this morning as he was home with ds. I am off to put a wash on, put the shopping away and make some lunch.

Dh's family is big but not as big as 15 or 16. I am still totally fascinated by it and how she keeps the place and dcs so spotless and well fed. Can you imagine putting away their shopping? Would they have several dishwashers? I just can't fathom how it would all work. Hats off to her though because it looked like they were all having a great time.

Having a good day so far even though it is the weekend

Up and dressed, beds made, swished and swiped.
Dishwasher filled emptied and filled again
shiny sink
3 lots of washing in, lovely windy drying day here today
hotspot cleared
room rescue done
lounge and hall hoovered, thats a first for a saturday :o
off to do some more bookcase decluttering now

Just need to rescue the washing from the nasty looking clouds coming over and ruining all my hard work and find out where my Brew is that dh promised 10 minutes ago

bessie26 · 21/01/2012 14:21

I didn't see the show, but it does sound like they were having fun! (I am an only child) I think it said she only bought one days worth of food at a time so perhaps she doesn't bother putting it all away?

Not much flying going on here, I have no laundry to wash & I'm not doing any cleaning other than cleaning up after myself (& DDs). We have been writing birthday cards for DH & wrapping up his presents ready for Monday.
