You are all going to be so disappointed. My hobby is horse riding. Ta da!! I really wasn't trying to be coy. I didn't realise you were all so nosey took such an interest in fellow thread members Grin I am totally mortified that it is not hang gliding or rally racing or anything a bit more adventurous Blush

Wow, BlackCat, that explains some of the problem. We have a dishwasher and still we only use one cup each per day! If I use a plate for something non-messy like toast, I keep re-using it till it gets dirty with something more than just crumbs. It's not slatternly, just efficient. Grin

I'm feeling mostly better today, thank you, Carrots. Hope you enjoy your night out (again - I'm slightly Envy). Actually, we're away for the weekend, but it'll be a mixture of business & pleasure I think.

I'm Shock Envy of your done list this morning!

bessie, hope you managed to get some sleep last night.

I had a productive day yesterday and even managed some decluttering. We had a slow start this morning but hopefully I can get a bit more done while DS sleeps.

BlackCatinaWitchesHat · 07/10/2011 13:38

Thanks everyone, I think we might have sorted my problem.Grin.

Right I really ought to go and do some work.
Glad you are feeling better AngelDog

I have finally cleaned the four windows that the dcs drew on with window crayons at the end of the summer holidays Blush It was quite a job. I had to use one cloth in vinegar to get the worst off, dry it with newspaper and then clean them again with a clean cloth and paper. It is done now though and lovely and sparkly clean. Very satisfying.

I hope you do get some r and r this weekend Angel. We are at home this weekend having been away for the last two. Dh will be away all day tomorrow but I still think it will be fab.

Kelly's mission done. Plan to make a christmas pudding and put it in the slow cooker tonight before I go to bed. Have a stir everyone.

bessie26 · 07/10/2011 18:50

I'm drink all my tea from the same mug each day too (I sometimes rinse it out with boiling water from the kettle) I've also usually got a juice glass on the go all day too.

Last night didn't go exactly as planned, but I did manage to delay feeding her until 430am so I'm counting that as a success

I had my carpets cleaned today, so cleared the living room & hall/stairs/landing and took the opportunity to vacuum up all the spiders webs from the ceiling and dust from the skirting boards. It reminded me of when I used to do the detailed cleaning in the fly lady zones, and how it doesn't actually take very long. My dining room is a complete tip though, I dumped all the kids toys in there earlier, and am hoping that not all of them will make it back into the living room.

GossipWitch · 07/10/2011 19:09

Uugghhh kelly's mission I completely forgot about them!!!!!!!!! The hangover is gone the legs don't ache as much which is surprising as I have walked around 4 miles today, as a result I haven't done anything today at home because I haven't been in. I will be getting it done tonight so that I don't have to do much tomorrow as I have a busy day ahead. I'm also planning on nipping into some of the charity shops in town and asking them if they do a pick up service, my nan managed to wrangle that with her jigsaw's and I have a lot to give !!!

Robotindisguise · 07/10/2011 19:53

Hi everyone - found you! Had the leurgy last week, so have been awol. Hope you're all well xx

AngelDog · 07/10/2011 21:04

Hope you're feeling better now, Robot.

bessie, that sounds like a good job done.

Today I ... wait for it ... hoovered the bedroom. It must have been a couple of months since it was last done. (Upstairs hoovering gets done monthly by my dad when they come to visit but the bedroom often gets left as DS is asleep in it.) It looks SO much better and even smells fresher up there although maybe that's my imagination.

DH is away now and DS and I are planning to join him tomorrow. Tonight I need to:

  • wash up
  • tidy downstairs & landing
  • slice & freeze bread
  • put food together to take tomorrow
  • pack DS's stuff for w/e
  • pack my stuff for w/e
AngelDog · 07/10/2011 22:50

Just catching my breath.

I've:
washed up
wiped down kitchen
hoovered kitchen floor
cleaned floor under highchair
frozen bread
tidied downstairs & upstairs
loaded pushchair & slings into car
emptied compost bin
got DS back to sleep twice (doesn't bode well for the night Hmm)

I still need to

  • pack mine & DS's stuff
  • hang out washing
  • pack up toys to take for DS
  • send an e-mail
Carrotsandcelery · 07/10/2011 23:18

Goodness me Angel that is quite a list Shock

Robot I thought you had abandoned us. I am so glad to see you back. I hope you are feeling better now.

Gossip I am glad you are still chipping away at all the stuff.

Dh was in charge tonight and the place still looks ok so he passes for the moment.

I have had a lovely night out with a friend. I just need a Brew now and off to bed.

Just put the broken netbook on ebay and I've given it a ten day listing so that I can make more money see if its worth it. ive now got to figure out where you get the page from to stick inside the envelope and send the cd I sold yesterday. I have myself a list so im going to have a Brew and a ciggy get dressed and get on with it, will see you all later :)

Carrotsandcelery · 08/10/2011 10:11

Morning all. Dh is off to collect his new car (yay!) and then to work (boo!) so I am on my lonesome with the dcs today.

Dd is going out for the day so I suspect I will spend most of my day playing cars with ds Grin

I hope everyone has a lovely weekend.

Carrotsandcelery · 08/10/2011 12:39

Ds and I have just blown the cobwebs away walking the dog up a small hill. I haven't done any housework yet but we are making a good mess as ds wanted french toast for lunch. Grin

OP posts:
BlackCatinaWitchesHat · 08/10/2011 18:43

Carrots What is french toast?

Carrotsandcelery · 08/10/2011 18:53

There is great debate in our house on that exact question.

Dh makes it by whisking a couple of eggs with a splash of milk and pouring it onto a deepish plate. He then dips a slice of bread in it and fries it gently on either side (so the egg soaked in the middle is cooked as well as the outside) and serves it with ketchup.

My first encounter with it was similar but there was cinammon (sp?) and a touch of sugar in the egg mix and no ketchup.

We don't have it often but we are being harrassed that ds needs to put on weight (again!) so, since dd wasn't here, I made it for him. I didn't have it myself as it is not the healthiest, even though I used spray oil to keep that to a minimum. I do enough damage with the Maltesers and chocolate digestives Grin

bessie26 · 08/10/2011 19:21

I always think the idea of eggy bread (what we call it) is always nicer than the reality... wikipedida explains the cinnamon thing!

Carrotsandcelery · 08/10/2011 19:25

Aha! That debate has run for about 20 years bessie and you have just solved it. We are both right Grin.

I have to admit it is not a treat for me. As you say the idea is better than the reality, like chip shop chips.

OP posts:
GossipWitch · 08/10/2011 20:48

Mmmm eggy bread or french toast as my nan calls it. I've been a bit good, I've :-

managed to peel myself from mn
tidied my room
changed my sheets
tidied boys room
changed their beds
cleaned bathroom
swished and swiped
done some laundry
went to nan's
posted ebay item
collected avon books
went home and washed up
tidied kitchen
tidied lounge
bagged up coats for charity shop
tidied hall
emptied hoover
hoovered though downstairs

I also did breakfast lunch and dinner

need a Brew

Carrotsandcelery · 08/10/2011 20:55

Wow Gossip you may need more than a Brew after that lot. I wish we had an [impressed] emoticon.

I am missing dh as I have to make my own Brew this evening. I was going to have a Wine but just fancied a Brew really [saddo emoticon]

I have:
washed and dressed to shoes
chauffered dd
walked dog with ds
made lunch
faffed
loaded dishwasher and cleaned worktops
chauffered ds
done a shop
picked up ds and then dd
made tea
persuaded them into a bath
persuaded them out of the bath
read them each a story
decluttered massive pile of stuff at the the bottom of the stairs
collapsed on the sofa

BlackCatinaWitchesHat · 08/10/2011 21:39

Thanks for that explanation of French toast.Smile.
I am nursing hurt toes. We decide to have burgers at lunch time (We had ran out of bread and were about to go shopping) Anyway I got them out of the freezer and was just putting them on the side in the kitchen when they fell out of the box and landed on my toes.Shock ooowwwwwwwwwwww! It was like ice bricks falling on my toes and they have been hurting all day.Sad I don't think they are broke they just hurt sometimes.
So I have resorted to Wine Wink

Carrotsandcelery · 08/10/2011 21:41

Good plan Black. I did the same today with a pair of kitchen scissors which narrowly missed my toes by about a centimetre. Eeeek! I hope they feel better soon.

OP posts:
BlackCatinaWitchesHat · 08/10/2011 21:43

The Kitchen can be a dangerous place can't it!

Carrotsandcelery · 08/10/2011 21:56

Probably best to grab the Wine bottle and take it through in the interest of personal safety. I am sure it is much safer on the sofa. Grin

BlackCatinaWitchesHat · 08/10/2011 22:14

Robotindisguise · 09/10/2011 08:06

We had a babysitter last night so since I've fallen behind with Flying a bit of a mad rush... still, it's done now. Yesterday my big task was cleaning all the slate tiles in the en suite . Today I'll apply the sealant stuff.

How are your toes today Black?
