You are all going to be so disappointed. My hobby is horse riding. Ta da!! I really wasn't trying to be coy. I didn't realise you were all so nosey took such an interest in fellow thread members Grin I am totally mortified that it is not hang gliding or rally racing or anything a bit more adventurous Blush

I wasn't up for long, just giving DD2 some calpol & cuddles (teeth)

Hope Dr goes ok today.

I'm trying DD2 out in the highchair (she'll start solids in a few weeks) She's getting really annoyed at not being able to move with the toy I've stuck to the tray Smile

GossipWitch · 04/10/2011 18:30

Almost carrots he's been statemented for years so im hoping to hear something soon it might not be instant if at all though ( I'm still sure it could be my parenting :( )

Carrotsandcelery · 04/10/2011 19:41

Evening all.

I hope dd2 is doing ok bessie - I can't believe she is at the weaning stage already Shock

The doctor's appointment went ok in the circumstances. He has made huge progress and is showing massive maturity in his ability to try to manage his condition. I am really proud of him. [proud mum emoticon]

I also had a parents evening for him and it was all very positive - finally! Hurrah! It may be short lived but it is good while it lasts. Grin

Housework has gone out of the window today as I have been running around to appointments and doing some scary banking. I did manage to post some ebay parcels and list some stuff on ebay though which I count as productive decluttering.

I have the shivers now - I think it is a reaction to the stresses of the day. I will take it as a sign that I need to put on my pjs and have a medicinal Wine as soon as all the dcs are in for the day.

How has everyone else got on today?

OP posts:
bessie26 · 05/10/2011 03:05

carrots glad to hear DS is making progress & hope thec Wine made you feel a bit better!

I can't quite believe DD2 is almost 6months old either (or her sister nearly 3!) - it also means I have less than 6 months before I have to go back to work! Shock - I'm not even going to think about that for now!

I'm really looking fwd to getting DD2 up at the dinner table with the rest of us, if she enjoys her food as much as DD1 does it will be good fun & will force me to clean the kitchen floor a bit more often!!

I didn't get huge amounts done today, we did a baby class in the morning, which screwed up our routine for the rest of the day, but I did

  • change & wash our bedlinen
  • vacuum downstairs
  • Made these really easy oven fritatta for my lunch & DD1s tea
  • made thai red curry for DH & my dinner
  • got DD1s clothes & bags ready for nursery
  • got DD2s clothes & bags ready for swimming
  • spent ages looking for my new swimsuit, but failed to find it (I only got it a few days ago, what have I done with it?!?)
  • picked clothes order up from Next
  • returned some kids clothes to the supermarket
  • got parcels ready to take to PO
  • bought & wrote some invites for DD1s birthday party to take to nursery tomorrow

Back to bed for me now!

AngelDog · 05/10/2011 10:13

Brilliant news from the doctor, Carrots.

Your day sounds pretty productive, bessie. It sounds like hard work being awake enough to MN at that time of the morning though!

Done yesterday:
washing
dry washing away
finally dealt with e-mail backlog (hurrah!)
wrote up notes from course
found recipe for finger paint
took DS out for a walk

Not bad overall then.

I have a stomach bug today (and all last night) so I'm feeling a bit grim this morning so I'm giving myself the morning off FLYing, and probably the afternoon too.

DS is tired after being woken by me in the night but thankfully is fascinated by me discovering a new lift-up car park barrier for his duplo set. :)

bessie26 · 05/10/2011 13:43

angel I'm on MN so I stay awake! I've fallen asleep loads of times holding DD2, which not only scares me, it also means I get some rubbish sleep with my head lolling to one side instead of being all comfy in my bed.

What is your recipe for finger paint?!

So far today I have

  • taken DD1 to nursery
  • found new swimsuit
  • tricked DD2 into having an early nap before going swimming
  • sent back 2 parcels
  • bought stickers (potty training) and a load of birthday cards and a twirl
  • dried one load of clothes, another almost finished in the machine

To do

  • dry next load of laundry
  • clean kitchen floor
  • get pizza out of freezer for tea tonight
  • put (at least some of) the laundry away
  • buy some fruit for DD1 to eat after nursery
  • return coat i don't like to Next
  • pick DD1 up from nursery
  • start the dreaded meal planner (we are going away next week so I need some really quick & easy to make meals) ready to write the shopping list tomorrow
Carrotsandcelery · 05/10/2011 14:26

Afternoon everyone. I have been off for coffee with some friends. Grin

Since getting back I have been playing with the dog and listing a few more items on ebay (so eventual decluttering again).

I need to get cracking though as I have 45 mins until I pick up the dcs and then we won't be home again until 6.45pm.

Angel Sad that sounds grim. I hope it is passing and you can snooze on the sofa.

bessie I had to take up feeding ds in bed with me as I kept falling asleep. It has led to us still cosleeping (he is 6!!!) so DON'T DO IT as I now sleep in the spare room with ds more often than I sleep with dh Hmm

Now someone please give me a massive boot so that I use this little window of time rather than spending it mucking about on mumsnet!

OP posts:
AngelDog · 05/10/2011 16:07

Carrots - BOOT!

bessie, I'd forgotten that I used to MN in the night before we started co-sleeping. I'd disagree with Carrots (sorry!) and say it was the best thing I did to survive (we still do it, but DS is only 21 months). We have 3 single mattresses on the floor though, so there's room for all of us.

The paint recipe is here although I realise now it's not really finger paint.

I've just slept for 2 hours while DS napped Grin so I'm feeling a bit better than I was.

bessie26 · 05/10/2011 19:11

carrots sorry I was too late to give you a boot!

angel that site looks good, I'll have to have a better look later

DD2 & I have co-slept a few times when I've been really knackered (learning to feed while lying down was one of the best things I've ever done!) but I don't like doing it because I don't sleep very well (& I'm afraid I'll end up doing it for years!) Her sleep is so much better than it was a few weeks ago (she's only up once, or sometimes twice in the night) so thanks again to whoever pointed me at babysleepanswers Grin

Done

  • dried laundry
  • cleaned kitchen floor
  • got pizza out of freezer for tea tonight
  • buy some fruit for DD1 to eat after nursery
  • pick DD1 up from nursery
  • phoned gardener (groupon offer)

To do tonight

  • write more party invites
  • do meal planner

And deferred to tomorrow

  • return coat i don't like to Next
  • put (at least some of) the laundry away
Carrotsandcelery · 05/10/2011 19:40

Angel I agree it was all I could do to survive at the time and it still is really lovely. We have an incredibly close bond and he is very affectionate still when some boys are pushing away from their mums now.

It sounds better if you don't have to be separate from your dh though and 21 months is fine for it really. It is not too socially acceptable though when you are nearly 7. I can see it could have an impact on sleepovers in the future and things like that too.

All that said, my ds does have mental health problems so I don't imagine our example is the norm Hmm Grin

You were all too slow with your boots - I expect better next time Wink

I am too tired now and apparently look grim (said by dh but meant in the nicest possible way) Hmm so it looks like tomorrow is another day.

I am hoping dh takes sympathy and brings me a Brew sometime soon.

Well done everyone for all the busy work being done. I have no excuses tomorrow so hope for a large boot early on please.

shouldbeelswhere · 05/10/2011 21:00

You sound like you've all been very busy.

Today DD and I cleaned the windows in the conservatory, she went off to clean her car (for an hr!) so I kept going and cleaned most of downstairs windows Yay

It did call for an extra bath during the day as she was drenched and she happily played in the bath while I put those blooming curtains back up. Actually after a while on the washing line the other day they are loads better and look like they've been washed Hmm

Feel like I deserve a bottle of Wine not just a glass.

Carrotsandcelery · 05/10/2011 21:18

It sounds like you do should - I bet it is all sparkly and fresh now. Grin

OP posts:
shouldbeelswhere · 05/10/2011 21:25

It looks great. Can't remember the last time I did it Blush

Carrotsandcelery · 05/10/2011 21:37

Our window cleaners came yesterday and it is £21 to do the whole house Shock and they still don't look good because the lounge windows are so dusty on the inside. Blush

I should do one window a day as part of my routine and would get round them all eventually, just in time to start again.

OP posts:
bessie26 · 05/10/2011 22:50

Our window cleaning costs £10 every 6 weeks, but if I want him to clean the (white plastic) frames, it costs me £20! I can see why, because it does take him a lot longer to wipe them all down than to just squeegy the windows, but even so... it does look nice though when I've cleaned the insides too. Will we do them as part of the zones? (when we get that far!)

After finally cleaning the kitchen floor today I have decided I need a new mop, got any recommendations? I quite like the one that looks like cut up bits of J cloth when I'm just giving it a quick once-over, but I sometimes need something a bit more scrubby (white Lino with grooves in ) A non-stick pan scrubber does the trick, it's just a bit hard on my knees!

bessie26 · 06/10/2011 02:04

carrots, here is your morning boot!!!

AngelDog · 06/10/2011 08:00

Yes, our windows need doing too. They only get done once every 2 or 3 years when I ask for window cleaning as a one-off birthday present. Blush I've been thinking I should get round to doing the downstairs windows myself before the winter sets in.

I've still got the stomach bug today but it's improving. I didn't do anything yesterday except wash & dry one lot of laundry, so I'm going to make a bit more effort today while still taking things fairly easy.

About to put away last night's washing up & load the washing machine so that'll be a good start.

AngelDog · 06/10/2011 10:45

I need a big boot, please.

We've had breakfast, I've washed up & wiped surfaces, have put on the washing machine and sterilised a couple of lids for jars of jelly.

I'm struggling to work up the motivation to go and have a shower and get dressed now.

Carrotsandcelery · 06/10/2011 11:00

Angel do you have a bath? Would it motivate you if you could lie in the bath for 10 minutes before you wash, since you are still a bit under the weather? I don't want to boot you if you are poorly so I am giving you a gentle nudge instead.

I feel more myself today. I had a horrendous time getting the dcs ready for school today. We are all exhausted and ready for the hols (ours start on Friday for two weeks). I bought myself a little bottle of Pepsi Max and just the thought I had a wee treat waiting seems to have spurred me on.

I have battled my way through a pile of ironing whilst watching The Wright Stuff. I still have more to do but stopped for a little drink and snack.

I still have loads to do but it does feel better to have made a start.

Thanks for the boot bessie Grin

AutumnHues · 06/10/2011 11:03

Hi angelDog I need a boot too!
I just had unexpected visitors (family) now I have sat down for a while I'm finding it hard to get going.

Carrotsandcelery · 06/10/2011 11:11

Come on Autumn set your timer for 15 mins and whizz around then make yourself a Brew as a reward. I am enjoying my mumsnet time now much more knowing I have done a little bit of my list now.

Gently boots Autumn off the sofa Grin

AutumnHues · 06/10/2011 11:20

Thanks Carrots.

If you see me on here before 12.00 give me another boot!

AngelDog · 06/10/2011 13:07

Thanks for the boot, Carrots. I feel much better for having a shower.

Sounds like you'll be ready for the holidays - hooray that they're here soon. Enjoy a Brew.

Did you manage to do some things in the kitchen, Autumn?

I couldn't go to sleep when I tried to nap with DS so I'm up & doing useful jobs on the computer. I feel pretty awake and good though.

I'm about to close down MN - honest! Grin

Carrotsandcelery · 06/10/2011 14:14

Hello folks. I am on a lunch break after a ridiculous mess around with the bank. They have been driving me nuts all week.

I drove a 14 mile or so round trip to one bank to be told I needed my passport to do what I wanted to do. They didn't tell me that when I asked them on Tuesday.

I went home and got my passport and went back to the bank and... it was shut for lunch! Gah! I had to hang around and wait for it to open as it would have wasted too much diesel to go home again. What a waste of a few hours for what turned out to be a 5 minute transaction. V frustrating.

I intend to channel my annoyance into some busy work in the house but for now I am having a veggie sausage sandwich Grin
