You are all going to be so disappointed. My hobby is horse riding. Ta da!! I really wasn't trying to be coy. I didn't realise you were all so nosey took such an interest in fellow thread members Grin I am totally mortified that it is not hang gliding or rally racing or anything a bit more adventurous Blush

They look o.k. but still feel a little odd. Just to top things off I went over on my knee this morning so now that hurts too! I seem to be accident prone at the mo.Blush

Carrotsandcelery · 09/10/2011 11:31

Robot we have black slate in our bathroom and they are a nightmare. Even once I scrub them they never look sparkly and clean. You have my sympathy.

I have done a thorough swish and swipe of both bathrooms, decluttered the hallway (again), decluttered the kitchen table (again), loaded the dishwasher and cleaned the worktops, hoovered the hall and kitchen, tidied the vestibule and made some soup. I have also put away the ironing board and ironed clothes (rare event). Phew!

Not my usual routine but dd is having a new friend to play in a couple of minutes and I thought we should at least try to make a good impression. She is having another friend as well who is very used to the state of our housekeeping. We don't need to scrub and polish for her coming. I love having her over Grin

This new friend is obviously a big deal for dd though. She asked me to, "Try to be normal." and to, "Try not to embarrass her". Blush I wasn't aware of my freak status but maybe I should hide in the garage while she is here. My dd is only 10 fgs! I thought I had a few years left before I shamed her just by existing Sad

I am rebellious by nature and very tempted to make sure I dance and sing loudly for the duration of her friend's visit Grin (I need a devil emoticon - maybe there will be one for Halloween)

I"m using Method tub and tile for cleaning it and then Homebase sealant. Sealant applied on the floor (walls and shower another day!) and it's drying now. I have to say the first time I did this I was full of high hopes but as you say carrots it's an ongoing (never-ending?) effort.

DD is only 2 but I'm sure I'll embarrass her given time Grin. I do remember what it was like to be that age though - anything that wasn't bog standard normal and approved of by your friends (and it changed by the week). It's a minefield, being a kid...

BlackCatinaWitchesHat · 09/10/2011 13:38

Hi all,
Carrots do you mind me keep coming on the thread?
I'm only asking cause you might think I am being cheeky seeing as I "left" a couple of weeks ago. I like you all on here and if it's o.k. I would like to be on both threads. But I am not completely ready to try again with all the baby steps. Hopefully one day I might feel ready to do them again.
I have done some decluttering this morning and am feeling a bit more motivated than usual. I am off to sort my kitchen in a bit but first am having a tea break.Wink

Carrotsandcelery · 09/10/2011 13:43

Black I am delighted when you pop up on the thread. It is not cheeky at all. The more here the merrier as far as I am concerned.

Aww Thanks for that.Smile

bessie26 · 09/10/2011 14:49

Hi everyone,

The dining room & my bedroom are still crammed full of stuff that shouldn't be there from the carpet cleaning on Friday. I'm really hoping we can "lose" a few toys when we put them back, but right now I am packing for a few days away... Well, I was, but now I'm lying down sat on the bed doing this & keep thinking a little snooze may be needed...

I have just organised a birthday party Grin

I am excited so suspect my 6 year old will be unbearable.

OP posts:
bessie26 · 09/10/2011 16:15

carrots any tips on party bags? (or on parties in general) I've got to sort some out for DD1s party & have no idea as it's the first kids party we've organised. I don't want to fill them full of tat that will go straight in the bin, but also don't want to spend too much money!

Carrotsandcelery · 09/10/2011 16:17

When my dcs were little bessie I used to buy a pack of books from The Book People and give each child a book as they left. It usually worked out as less that £1 per child and it felt more worth spending and somehow more environmentally friendly and wholesome Blush

Something like this bessie.

Parents usually seemed grateful.

I am very poorly, was sick last night and ill this morning I feel achy and cold to my bones and it hurts....

I have only succeeded in making the boys lunch and breakfast which was a major effort and i now have to muster up enough strength to give them dinner.

I am so glad that I washed ds1s uniform yesterday.

GossipWitch · 09/10/2011 16:43

ohhh and I took off and cleaned the morning nappy mess which really didn't help

Carrotsandcelery · 09/10/2011 16:57

Oh no Gossip I hope you shake it off quick. That sounds grim.

OP posts:
GossipWitch · 09/10/2011 21:16

Ohh my house is in total chaos, its infuriating me because ds2 seems to be doing more cleaning than ds1 and he's 6 years older, I know he's sn but he is capable of putting things in the bin or taking things to the kitchen gggrrrrrrr!!!!!!! I am grumpy to go with ill :(

BlackCatinaWitchesHat · 09/10/2011 21:22

Hope you get better soon Gossip.

bessie26 · 09/10/2011 22:23

gossip hope you feel better soon. Remember to drink lots of fluids! (although perhaps in small sips)

Thanks for the book link carrots, I was going to buy some packs of books to give away as presents at all the upcoming parties, so it looks like I'll be doing a nice big order! Grin

AngelDog · 10/10/2011 11:24

Oh, Gossip, hope you're better soon.

bessie, best of luck on the packing. I hate doing it!

We had a lovely weekend after all and it was nice to spend a bit more time with DH.

I'm feeling very slummy as it's nearly 11.30 and I'm still in my PJs. Shock DS and I didn't wake up till 8.30 and have been mostly playing since. He has a really bad eczema flare up on his face which is waking him loads at night (often half-hourly Shock) so we both appreciated the lie-in.

However I have managed to do today:
breakfast
sent 3 e-mails
written a card
put washing machine on
washed up
put handwashing in bowl to soak

That sounds pretty good after all. :)

BlackCatinaWitchesHat · 10/10/2011 13:17

Hi all, Am having a tea break so thought I would pop in.
I am fairly pleased with myself over the last 2 days as I have actually got a few jobs done and not just sat MNetting.Grin

So today I have:
Made beds
DS to school
Hanged wet washing on airer
put away dry washing
made lunch
washed up/dried up.(Still have more to do)
and decided what we are having for dinner tonight.

GossipWitch · 10/10/2011 16:01

I feel a lot better today but now I feel stinky and smelly, but on the plus side I get to help ds1 with his amazing peice of homework (its what I live for) were ahem he's making an anderson shelter !!! eeekkkk im excited so ill see you all later when ive cough hes done it Grin

BlackCatinaWitchesHat · 10/10/2011 16:23

Glad you are feeling better. DS has homework too. It is a crossword and all the answers have consonants in them.

Gossip What is an anderson shelter?

Carrotsandcelery · 10/10/2011 16:46

Gossip are we getting a photo of your ds's homework once it is finished. How on earth are you going to do it? I am glad you feel better.

Well done Black. I thought of you last night as dh drank his beer out of a jar as he couldn't be bothered to wash a glass (we had friends in on and off over the day on Sunday and there were no clean glasses left) Grin I was far classier and had mine out of the bottle Grin Grin

No homework here as the dcs are on hols now for 2 weeks. Instead I have been shopping with dd as she was in desperate need of some presentable clothing that actually fitted. It took us 6 hours Shock but she now has 2 outfits and a long sleeved top that goes with both of them.

I am Shock on so many levels:
a) at the prices in New Look
b) that Next don't sell clothes above age 12 in store
c) that the belt we bought from Accessorise cost more than the skirt it was to go with
d) about just about everything to do with Hollister - what is that all about?

And of course that was where the top fitted. I thought I had a few years before I had to shop in Hollister. I blame her young trendy teacher who wears Hollister to work and has taught them to dress fashionably. I thought, living in a wee country village, that they would be totally naive to the nonsense joy that is Hollister.

Sorry, that has zero to do with flying except to say that I am totally skint now worn out now so I have shoved the dcs in the bath and I am having a sit down wishing I had bought some crisps and ignoring the mess around me for just now.

An Anderson shelter is a bomb shelter that people used to put in there own back gardens in world war 2, they had beds and bare essentials like a wind up radio and candles in ( I think I may have gone a little too far with the miniture tea set I brought today Hmm)

I've cut a square whole in a bold box, got some green corrugated card for the shelter and arched it over to fit snug in the box, I've made lolly pop stick bunk beds and a tiny table ds has painted the box, however we had to give up because ds had a meltdown so I'm calming him with a dvd, I knew it was coming as he had a late-out-of-routine morning and tbh I'm surprised he held on to it for so long.

as for the baby steps I have been crap yet again...... but the sink is shiny, after being poorly yesterday and taking it easy today not much else has happened.

bessie26 · 10/10/2011 19:49

Well I packed everything. But unfortunately our suitcase didn't make it into the car, so DH has had to drive home to get it. Oh dear. It's "only" an hours drive home, and he has got out of putting the DDs to bed (both by 1930, impressed?) but he's still going to be in a grump!!

I know what an Anderson shelter is, but I have no idea what Hollister is. I have always hated going into town to do clothes shopping, and since having DDs it's just got worse, so I get my clothes from supermarkets or online. I am so uncool. Grin

Carrotsandcelery · 10/10/2011 20:38

bessie I only know because my dmum and I were so intrigued by the beach shelter and strong stench of perfume that suddenly appeared in our local mall that we had to investigate. Never did two people look so out of place. (dmum is in her late 60's and a very classic dresser - I am curvy to say the least and a complete scruff)

You need an X files type torch to shop in there as it is virtually pitch black, even in the changing rooms I discovered today, and everything is about 4 times the price you might consider acceptable. It all has a tiny red bird embroidered on it somewhere with white stitching around it and that (and the ridiculous surf paradise decor) seem to be what the extra cash is for.

You need to squint and peer to see the price of anything and then a stiff drink to recover from the shock. I could only tell the colour of the item dd had set her heart upon by taking it to the one small bowl sized spot of light I could find, tucked at the edge of a table.

Oh, and it is so loud in there you cannot speak - presumably to drown out the cries of sorrow from parents at the till.

Rejoice in your dds while they are tiny bessie Grin
