You are all going to be so disappointed. My hobby is horse riding. Ta da!! I really wasn't trying to be coy. I didn't realise you were all so nosey took such an interest in fellow thread members Grin I am totally mortified that it is not hang gliding or rally racing or anything a bit more adventurous Blush

Have a great day black. We are doing a tidy up today, as a team Grin then lots of little jobs outside the house.

GossipWitch · 21/10/2011 14:28

lol Its very good you can get practically anything on this street its awesome... hairdressers, avon, childminder, cheese , nurse, beauty and nails its a bit rich of the skilled and jobless lol

Carrotsandcelery · 21/10/2011 14:56

It sounds great Gossip. Ours is nice but not so useful in the skills dept unless you want an oil worker for any reason Hmm Infact dh and I are probably the most useful - which doesn't help me much does it!!

OP posts:
bessie26 · 21/10/2011 23:08

I'm impressed you know that much about the people in your street! We occasionally chat to our next door neighbours, but I have no idea what they do for a living... I only know one of their names!!

Carrotsandcelery · 21/10/2011 23:12

Just wait bessie - the older your dcs get the more involved you seem to become with everyone around you. Make sure you get to know the neighbours whose kids will be older teenagers as then you will have handy babysitters who you can walk home after a few Wine Grin

OP posts:
GossipWitch · 22/10/2011 09:35

Its a very small street and when I was an avon rep I delivered to all of them so that helps, also i'm known for my garden parties around here lol, lots of bbqs in the summer etc.

Carrotsandcelery · 22/10/2011 10:58

We have shared garden areas in our street so we get to know each other organising paying for the gardener to keep them in order. I also taught a lot of the dcs in our street so know a lot of families that way. One of them worked in the maternity hospital when I had dd so that is how I know her. One is our local nurse which is Blush when you have to have a smear. One works at the school. A few are Mums whose kids go to the same school as ours. Some walk dogs so I see them when I am out with mine... It adds up over time. What I do miss is a really close friend living in the street. I used to have a friend here whose dcs were the same ages as mine. We were a lot of support to each other eg if one dc is poorly then the other mum can take the other dc to school etc. It was nice just having adult company for the walk to school. Sadly they have moved away so I only see her once or twice a year now Sad

Anyway, on the flylady front:

I have washed and dressed (not found shoes yet)
I have hoovered (because dd stomped dried mud everywhere wandering around the house in her riding boots)
I have put the sheets from the double bed in the wash.
Ds and I have decluttered the kitchen a bit (ready to make a big mess with Playmobil Grin)
Dh seems to be managing the dishes so I am leaving him to that one.

To do:
Set up Playmobil and potter with that for a while.
Fold laundry
Iron some clothes

Then I will see how I am getting on.

What is everyone else up to today?

Gossip have you started preening yet? Eeeeek!

Hello carrots We had ds tread mud through our house last Saturday cause he was playing out and must of gone on the grass across the road.

bessie26 · 22/10/2011 12:46

DD2 got up late (coz she was up in the night) and we had lunch early (as DH has gone to play golf) so I'm a bit confused about what to do when today!

My new kitchen bin arrived this morning, so I rearranged stuff in the cupboard under the sink so it fits, and put the big stand-alone bin in the garage. This will give us a bit more space in the kitchen, which we need as we'll have to make the table bigger when DD2 starts joining us for meals.

I've also vacuumed downstairs, tidied up the dining room, cleaned the floor (it was still covered in spaghetti cake & icing from Monday's birthday lunch!) and pushed the table & chairs back against the wall.

We've also been doing colouring in, stickers & singing, but need to go give DD2 some pear now. No idea what I'll do later yet...

Carrotsandcelery · 22/10/2011 13:13

Ds and I have made an almighty mess with Playmobil. I am sorting it and ds is hauling bits out again and spreading them all over the kitchen. I am trying to get it so that all the pirate stuff is in one box, all the hospital stuff in one box and so on. I do this on a fairly regular basis but I never quite get it as I would like it. Dh thinks I am mad but I think it is hard to play with if it is all mixed up together and it puts the dcs off taking it out.

Dd is having a sleepover tonight so I have been moving furniture around for that too.

What were you singing bessie - we were all singing Adele the other day and it was the Proclaimers before that Blush. Gone are the days of Old Macdonald and his farm Sad. My dniece will have to put up with that with me instead Grin

BlackCatinaWitchesHatonaBroom · 22/10/2011 13:20

Carrots we have that sorting /tidying problem with lego. We also have to keep an eye on dd while ds plays with it as there are lots of tiny pieces.

I'm off to set my timer for a bit.[hsmile]

Carrotsandcelery · 22/10/2011 13:29

I don't even try with the Lego. We build the special set once, then the pieces get put in the big box and so do the instructions. Ds seems to prefer to make his own creations anyway Grin Dd is currently building a dolls house with it in her room though so Playmobil it is today.

OP posts:
bessie26 · 22/10/2011 14:51

I can't wait to get my Lego out for DD1 to play with, I used to love sorting it all out! I seem to remember building houses & stations to go with my Lego & Brio trainsets Grin I was very lucky though & had a playroom where I could leave my creations, our DDs won't be so lucky.

I was singing classic nursery rhymes today. I do try to get the radio or my music on whenever possible, but sometimes "hey diddle" is the only thing that will do! We were listening to They might be giants on spotify earlier (they do children's songs) & DD1 liked some of them so I might have to get her the CD for Xmas

Since the girls have gone to bed, I've had the vacuum out again to do the utility floor (I forgot earlier) and to suck the air out of another 2 bags of clothes to go in the loft. I've also got some tofu draining ready for tea (stir-fry) and now I'm going to have a little lie down!

AngelDog · 22/10/2011 15:13

Just popping in for 30 seconds - will read posts a bit later.

DH has taken DS out for the afternoon. He only does this once every 3-6 months so this is my time to GET THINGS DONE.

Unfortunately the place looks like a bomb site; I feel groggy after a nap and exhausted after the tears required to get DH and DS out (DS's tears and mine, that is! Wink)

Plan is to:

  • finish lunch
  • shove stuff in loft cupboard
  • insulate back of loft cupboard door
  • draughtproof loft cupboard door
  • hoover & dust loft
  • list nappies for selling

At some point I also need to:

  • cook dinner
  • unload/reload dishwasher
  • wash up breakfast & lunch
  • empty this morning's shopping from pushchair
  • resist the temptation to go to the shop and buy chocolate. I'm making do with a Biscuit instead. Grin

Right. Onwards and upwards. If you see me on MN this afternoon, please shout at me. :)

GossipWitch · 22/10/2011 16:09

BlackCatinaWitchesHatonaBroom · 22/10/2011 16:14

I'm off to sort my kitchen and do dinner. see y'all later.

bessie26 · 22/10/2011 18:30

Hope you have fun tonight gossip! Grin

Either DH or I have to pop up to the supermarket & buy a cake and something to put in a party bag for a 6month old! I need to cook/purée some apple for DD2 to have tomorrow & then need to have a bath, do my hair & goto bed early incase I'm up with DD2 again in the night.

Carrotsandcelery · 22/10/2011 19:04

Gossip have a fantastic time.

bessie I have had many a happy hour at my parents house playing with the lego I had as a child. Some things are worth hanging on to, despite my new love of decluttering. Grin

Our kitchen is still covered in Playmobil. I have built and sorted quite a lot of it and now have a sore back. I have now got to the one we don't have the instructions for which will take me ages. They must be in the house somewhere but goodness knows where. I am a bit frustrated as I am usually pretty good with Playmobil and Lego instruction. Pah!

It makes me laugh. Gossip is out on a hot date and I am scrabbling about on the floor building Playmobil Hmm

Morning all!

We are waiting for some of the gossip Gossip. I hope you had a great night.

I really enjoyed myself with the Playmobil. I am hoping to get some more boxes today to store it all separately so the dcs can play with it more easily.

What has everyone got planned?

OP posts:
BlackCatinaWitchesHatonaBroom · 23/10/2011 11:12

Morning all, I have joined a potty training quiche on here. We are going to give it a proper go today and try to avoid nappies till bedtime!

Not much going on with housework today as I done some yesterday.Wink

Carrotsandcelery · 23/10/2011 11:55

Good luck Black. Are you going straight for a trainer seat on the loo or a potty first? Is your house warm enough for your little one to go bare bottomed for the day? That helps some dcs. (and would save on laundry, if not floor scrubbing).

I have:
washed and dressed
cleaned worktops and loaded dishwasher
cleaned kitchen table
hoovered
had a horrible row with dd Sad (she wouldn't clean her teeth to go out with friend)
had a cuddle with dd
sorted some more Playmobil

Still to:
pick ds up from playdate (rare event for him) Smile
take ds to a party (another rare event for him but becoming more frequent) Smile
pick up boxes for Playmobil
make sure we have uniforms and gym kits ready for school going back tomorrow.
watch ebay constantly because I am a bit excited about it finishing tonight
wait for Gossip to spill about last night
