You are all going to be so disappointed. My hobby is horse riding. Ta da!! I really wasn't trying to be coy. I didn't realise you were all so nosey took such an interest in fellow thread members Grin I am totally mortified that it is not hang gliding or rally racing or anything a bit more adventurous Blush

Hi all I'm room rescuing the lounge after ds2 goes to bed atm or it just seems fruitless, and I still have mountains of laundry to sort, I also need to nip into town after peeling the boys away from the wii, to get gas and a new tv aerial. we got chicken for dinner so I want to do this early. Got my caravan booked for next years hols just need to pay the deposit and it'll be done. LI is trying to get a house down this way at the min and I really should txt him back after my 2 lovely wake up gorgeous txts this morning lol.

I'll pop back on later and tell you how it all goes.

Carrotsandcelery · 19/10/2011 11:24

Gossip I am [henvy] of your lovely texts. My dh is currently cutting his toenails. Not quite so enticing [hhmm]

I think I will have to live vicariously through your exciting love life instead [hgrin]

Ds has a new wii game (Super Paper Mario) and I am tempted to leave him to it. It has a lot of writing in it so I am trying to persuade myself that it is actually encourgaging his literacy.

Dd is at the stables for the day, in her thermals as it is baltic here. Cold and windy although still beautiful and sunny. I made her a flask of soup to take with her to keep her cosy.

bessie my dh is good at lots of things but nothing home related eg cooking, diy, decorating, gardening etc are not his are of skill. Give him a physics equation and he is off though. That had its appeal but right now a man who could bake a cracking birthday cake is very appealling. So it sounds like I am [henvy] of your love interest too bessie. [hhmm]

Poor dh. He is lovely really!

Carrots I get a lovely text every morning with a complement which makes me feels fantastic throughout the day, its lovely. I'm sure your dh does lovely things occasionally too, I only brought the wii in the first place to encourage fine and gross motor control, the fine is getting better but the gross is questionable lol.

bessie your dh's cake is fantastic you must be very proud of him.

I still haven't done anything, I,m waiting for my motivation to come [hgrin].

Carrotsandcelery · 19/10/2011 13:59

Well I have hoovered and dh has loaded the dishwasher. That is about it Grin

bessie26 · 19/10/2011 15:16

I am very impressed with DHs cake efforts. He said following the instructions on the website made it quite straightforward, but I know alot of people (probably myself included) would have been afraid to or not be bothered to try. I think that is one of his best qualities (& the one I want the girls to inherit) - he will always have a go at anything & doesn't worry about looking like an idiot trying. He does however struggle to reply to emails & txts, and will only attempt to do something vaguely romantic on our wedding anniversary!

I think our Wii has a thick layer of dust on it. I love to do Wii Fit, but don't have the time anymore as i spend too much time on mn

I took DD2 swimming this morning, I've only just had lunch & a shower so I'm sat here in my dressing gown & bed socks! (it's cold today!)

I've phoned the party place & all I have to do is bring a cake & some party bags - they do everything else! So if DD2 wakes & feeds in time I'll pop to the supermarket to buy some stuff for the party before picking DD1 up from nursery, otherwise it will have to wait until tomorrow.... I'd better go get dressed!

Carrotsandcelery · 19/10/2011 15:35

bessie the wii seems to be a very male affair. The boys in the house love it whereas dd and I only dip in occasionally. She loves Just Dance so your dd might like Just Dance Junior or similar.

It does get more use in the Winter time and we were very grateful for Just Dance last Winter when we had no heating - it is a great way to get the blood pumping as Gossip says.

I do like a bit of Mario too though Blush

BlackCatinaWitchesHatonaBroom · 19/10/2011 17:47

Hi all, didn't completely manage to stay off MN. I think the only way to do that is go out all day!Hmm

Today have done:
Get dressed
made beds
some washing up/drying up
Trying potty training again
went to town
ds to school and back
cooked dinner.

Now I'm having a bit off chill out time before the dc have to go bed.
DH is working long hours lately so I almost feel like a single parent. But he has got next week off same as ds so we can hopefully get a bit of family time.

Carrotsandcelery · 19/10/2011 18:20

black I view mumsnet as the office equivalent to the photocopier/water cooler/drinks machine. Being a SAHM can be a lonely business. We all need a bit of adult human interaction in our day. Why not set a timer when you sit down for a browse? View it as the evil boss stalking his way through the office scowling at those not at their desks. When it rings you have to whizz back and get going until your next tea break. Then you can browse guilt free. No one is expected to work every minute of every waking hour of the day. We are allowed to enjoy ourselves too Grin

OP posts:
BlackCatinaWitchesHatonaBroom · 19/10/2011 18:29

Yes I agree Carrots but I know that on some days I could spend too long on MN and not get much else done. I might have to think about your idea of using the timer. I don't limit my time in the evening though as that is chill out timeWink, unless I'm busy helping ds with homework.

I'm off to dig out a pair of gloves as it is very cold here today.

Carrotsandcelery · 19/10/2011 18:35

We had a touch of snow today. There is none on the ground but it is wet and windy. I have dug out my fleece gloves but I don't want to get out the big guns just yet. I will work my way up.

I have ordered a possible Winter coat today as well. I think I need one of those big duvet, padded, long ones. I am fairly curvy so I suspect it won't be a pretty sight but I am fed up being cold. Shock

OP posts:
BlackCatinaWitchesHatonaBroom · 19/10/2011 18:46

I think this time of year it is more important to be warm than worry too much about what we look like.[hsmile]. Especially where we live. it must be even colder where you are. We are fairly close to the sea so we tend to get cold winds blowing here.

bessie26 · 19/10/2011 22:55

How cold is it where you are? I think it was around 10deg here today, which seems bloddy freezing to me, but is probably tropical to you guys up north! I'm hoping to do Buggy Fit in the morning, but need to find some appropriate clothing for me & DD2!

I just got a long padded winter coat from Next, I'm hoping it will be casual enough to go with jeans & smart enough to wear to work (if it's still cold when I go back)

My flying has really gone to pot Sad I'm sat in bed atm, and the room is an absolute tip, I've got stuff piled up everywhere and 3 baskets of clean laundry to put away! I'm going to sleep now so I don't have to look at it!

Carrotsandcelery · 19/10/2011 23:11

bessie I have just ordered a long padded winter coat from Next - due to be delivered tomorrow. Shock

The car said it was between 4 and 5 degrees here today, depending upon where we were. The higher up we went the colder it got obviously.

I am riding tomorrow and I have no clue what to wear when it is this cold. I don't like wearing anything "good" to the stables and I get fairly hot once we get going so I don't want to over layer it.

My flying is a bit odd at the moment too. I thought I would get back into routine when the dcs went back to school but because dh is home for a while it may not. On the plus side, even when we are slobbing about he does the odd thing and so do I so some of it is happening, just not as much as could be happening. Dh is currently decluttering the sideboard but has got sucked into looking at a catalogue

OP posts:
bessie26 · 20/10/2011 04:09

Oooh, which one are you getting? I have this one

I've been up since 1am with DD2 so don't think I'll be getting much done today Sad

Carrotsandcelery · 20/10/2011 10:25

Oh dear bessie that is grim. I suggest a peaceful day on the sofa and just pottering around.

Your coat is much nicer than the one I have ordered. Is it really cosy? I have ordered this as I need a really warm one and the reviews say you still have a shape when you wear it. I am not sure what I will look like in it though. I am very curvy and need to emphasise my waist or I just look like a blob.

I have also ordered a parka from Boden as my ddad said he would like to get me a nice coat for Christmas. It will take a few weeks to come though. I am being decadent as I would like a "good" one and one I can wear to walk the dog, hang around waiting for dd at the stables etc. Last year we had to stand on blocks of ice in the snow and -15C, in the dark, for an hour while our kids were riding (they were flood lit but the lighting didn't extend to the viewing area, and it was tough going, so this year I am determined to be prepared.

OP posts:
Carrotsandcelery · 20/10/2011 10:26

On the flying front, dh is taking the reins today as I am riding and then taking dd into the big city. Grin

OP posts:
GossipWitch · 20/10/2011 11:34

Those coats are lovely Bessie and Carrots, for some reason Carrots when you were on about a long padded coat I though of those ones that grannys used to wear in the 90s lol, but nope its a very nice black one, I would wear both tbh and if its cold enough at the same time lol. Flying isn't going as well as I planned but I am going to my mates later for a sleepover, so it means I can finally off load the clothes that I've had saved in my room for months to her. I'm still receiving texts every morning so I'm happy and I need to get off to do my flying before I go out and i need to cook a chicken before it goes off.

bessie26 · 20/10/2011 12:56

carrots I only got it last weekend & haven't worn it yet so don't know how warm it will actually be. One thing I have learnt from my brief obsession with Next online is to order everything you think you might like & send what you don't want back (I can get free delivery & returns via a nearby Next home store). I ordered 3 coats to try on before choosing that one!

If it's really cold I wear my 3-in-1 coat (like this), it's not glamorous or shapely, but it does keep me lovely & warm. It has been with me to NY in the winter, to look at glaciers in Canada, and to beaches in Devon & Norfolk Grin

I've hoovered downstairs and sorted some clothes out ready to go up into the loft so my room looks a bit better.

Carrotsandcelery · 20/10/2011 18:27

bessie that is what most people wear most of the time around here. We are actually at the stage where we ooh and aah in the playground over new ones - we have learned what to appreciate!

The duvet coat has arrived but I haven't tried it on yet.

I have had a lovely day with dd and now I am snuggled on the sofa in my pjs.

Dh has made a fairly good job of flying today (just basics) so I wouldn't like to insult him by implying he had missed anything Wink

Gossip have you figured out what you are going to wear on Saturday?

OP posts:
Carrotsandcelery · 20/10/2011 20:19

Well the jacket was a great big fail. I thought it looked ok but dh was not keen at all and that put me right off. Back to the drawing board!

OP posts:
GossipWitch · 20/10/2011 22:10

Yes I bought an lbd last week and I'm going to wear that with some sheer shiny tights and a coat because the temp here is dropping to 5 degrees at night, also I made that mistake last weekend and I could have hung my coat (that I left at home) on my nipples.

Carrotsandcelery · 20/10/2011 22:17

Grin Gossip That made me laugh.

Your outfit sounds perfect. We will be waiting for the details (well some of them Shock) on Sunday you realise?

OP posts:
AngelDog · 20/10/2011 22:18

Oh that's a shame, Carrots. Hope you find another one soon.

Blackcat, you've been quiet today - hope everything's okay.

Grin, Gossip at your coat being able to hang off your nipples (and I know exactly what you mean).

I have a duvet coat too - the main problem is that the hood blows straight down when it's windy. Hmm It's nice & warm though.

I've not even been attempting flying. Mostly I'm concentrating on sleeping - making sure I go to bed at a reasonable hour and today DS and I both napped for two and a half hours! Shock I had no idea I was that tired, but I obviously needed it. :)

We're battening down the hatches for the cold weather. We have a new curtain-closing regime to keep the heat in and are using towels as temporary draught excluders.

I've ordered DS some gloves for outdoors and dressed him in lots of layers at bedtime. It turns out I'd been dressing him for a room temperature of 18 degrees +. Our bedroom was 13 degrees when we woke up this morning. Shock Maybe he'll sleep better being a bit warmer

Tomorrow I need to have a look at the pushchair footmuff as the zip is broken so it's pretty useless.

Off to hang out some washing now then to snuggle in bed.

Carrotsandcelery · 20/10/2011 22:48

Angel you have just reminded me. I went to Poundland for the first time ever today - mostly mumsnets fault but also because it is new here. They had things called "damp traps" that looked similar to the things I suggested for absorbing the condensation over winter. They were only £1 so a much smaller risk to the budget if they weren't going to do the job.

How old is ds again Angel? A lot of my friends used sleeping bags that the baby wears rather than blankets to make sure baby didn't get cold in the night throwing off his covers. Both of mine couldn't bear them but wore all in one fleecy babygrows over their pjs and that seemed to do it. All of that seems like a lifetime ago now. How weird!

I don't know what to do about the coat. I will have to browse the Next book for more ideas I think. Maybe bessie can review the cosy factor of her one once she gets a chance to try it out.

Angel are you tired because you have a baby who is up through the night or is it something else? Do you maybe need your iron and thyroid bloods done? Thyroids can go a bit wonky after childbirth.

Hi all, just checking in. had a busy day yesterday and I think today may end up being the same. Have to take some forms into school plus go food shopping also have a lot of housework to do. [hsmile]
