You are all going to be so disappointed. My hobby is horse riding. Ta da!! I really wasn't trying to be coy. I didn't realise you were all so nosey took such an interest in fellow thread members Grin I am totally mortified that it is not hang gliding or rally racing or anything a bit more adventurous Blush

Yay! Glad you had such a good time gossip, when are you seeing him again?

It was DD1s party this morning, DH & I are relaxing on the sofa with a cup of tea and some cake before we wake her up from her nap to open her prezzies!

Really, really must refocus on flying soon - it'll be Xmas soon!

Carrotsandcelery · 23/10/2011 16:56

Did it go well bessie? Ds's is fast approaching and I am usually much more organised by now. I need to make a food shopping list and get cracking.

He'll be coming round tomorrow for dinner with his ds, I'm going to make a lasagne, my brothers always comment on how great it is so I'm going to make that.

Carrotsandcelery · 23/10/2011 17:21

That sounds perfect Gossip. How old is his ds? Hopefully he will get on with your ds's.

OP posts:
bessie26 · 23/10/2011 18:49

mmmm lasagne No man can resist that! Wink

The party went well, we hired out a soft play place, so the kids ran round for about an hour, then had some food (provided by the place) - all we had to do was bring the cake & party bags! It was all very easy & the kids all seemed to have fun which is the main thing Grin

blackcat - a potty training quiche? Wink. DD1 is doing really well with her potty, but isn't keen on using actual toilets or even other potties, so I think I'll be carrying our travel potty around with us for a while yet

Tonight I need to write thank-you cards & start getting back into my proper routine, although I have already failed to change the kids bed linen, they will have to wait until tomorrow!

GossipWitch · 23/10/2011 18:55

His ds is six so at the minute he's smack bang in the middle of both of mine, 3 years either way....

AngelDog · 23/10/2011 22:13

Glad it went well, Gossip. Keep us posted. :)

Good luck on the potty training, blackcat.

That's good about your DS's playdates & parties, Carrots.

I've had more sleep lately so I'm feeling much better. DS has slept better since I put him in extra layers (though tonight the bedroom is a sweltering 18 degrees so he might wake up hot!)

I took your advice about seeing the GP, Carrots - I had to go anyway so I mentioned the tiredness etc and she's sending me for all the usual tests just in case (though I suspect the issue is a wakeful DS rather than anything more sinister).

I was a bit over-optimistic yesterday and didn't get round to listing nappies, but I did insulate the loft and put loads of stuff away in the cupboard (including things that'd been hanging around for 2 years Shock). It was a job well done I think.

Carrotsandcelery · 23/10/2011 22:31

Well done on the cupboard Angel. I am glad you are getting checked out. It is probably nothing but if you do have an iron deficiency or a thyroid imbalance it is really easy to sort out and you feel a lot better for it. Good luck.

Hi all,

I definitely need a declutter.

Tomorrow I need to sort through DS's clothes and toys to get rid of anything that can be thrown/charity shopped.

I also need to cull my own wardrobe.

Half term - yay!

BlackCatinaWitchesHatonaBroom · 24/10/2011 09:21

Morning all, Not sure what I have planned for today yet apart from potty training. DS is still in bed asleep as it is half term here this week.

Welcome acrunchie [hsmile]

AngelDog hope your results come back ok from GP.

I am starting to feel a bit better now since I've been on the iron tablets.

DH and DS made a lovely chocolate cake yesterday! Yum Yum.

GossipWitch · 24/10/2011 11:52

Hi all, back to normality well a little normality, so far I've room rescued the lounge and will be hitting my grubby kitchen with a vengeance soon, going to have a cig first, good news is I don't have to reboot laundry as its all done, however I do need to blitz the boys room as I'll be having a new 6 year old kipping in there tonight.

Catch you all when the kitchen is done.

Carrotsandcelery · 24/10/2011 13:42

Hi crunchie Smile

Pass me some chocolate cake please Black

Good luck everyone with their plans for the day.

I have posted 14 ebay parcels and now have another 2 to post so that is permanent decluttering achieved.

Hoping to do more Playmobil sorting and some laundry folding today as well and usual dishes, worktops and table routines.

Cheeseandseveredfingersarnie · 24/10/2011 14:35

can i join you?
im being good at the moment-amazing how a big pile of coursework can suddenly make you want to do houseworkGrin.i am a slob,my house is full of 'stuff'.i wear blinkers and dont see the mess!
so far today i have-
hoovered, tidied and stripped beds in 2 bedrooms after sleepovers
wiped down kitchen
swept kitchen floor
stripped my bed
got 3 loads of washing washed, dried and folded although not yet put away.

for me this is progress!Grin

BlackCatinaWitchesHatonaBroom · 24/10/2011 15:11

Hi Cheese

I have been lazy busy today playing on the computer.
Housework.... I have only hoovered. Blush

To do:
wash up/dry up
load washing machine
put away dry washing
make dinner
wash up after dinner.

Potty training, dd seems to have amazing control as she keeps holding it in. we have had no accidents and nothing in potty Shock.
She did this yesterday but had one pair of wet pants. Not sure how to potty train when she doesn't want to let it out....?
Sorry if TMI.

bessie26 · 24/10/2011 15:35

Hi cheese sounds like you've been busy!

blackcat what is her reward? Stickers worked really well for DD1

I'd better not have any more cake, I still have left-over birthday cake in the house! I am going for a (short) run later though

I took DD1 swimming this morning, so I haven't got much done. Dinner is in the slow cooker though & both clean & dirty laundry baskets are almost empty. My bedroom is looking much better too since DH put 5 vacuum bags of clothes up into the loft! (my maternity stuff & DD2s baby clothes)

Must go wake DD1 up from her nap now. I hope to get the kitchen tidied while she is having her tea later.

Cheeseandseveredfingersarnie · 24/10/2011 15:38

i dont miss potty training!youngest who is 5 is still in nappies at night so dreading the night training when hes finally ready.

thankyou for cakeSmile

ive slumped now!
still got to get dinner-although stir fry tonight so easy
load dishwasher
remake my bed
put another load in washer/dryer

BlackCatinaWitchesHatonaBroom · 24/10/2011 16:06

Bessie We are trying stickers too. We even just give them if she sits on potty.

I better go and sort dinner soon.

Carrotsandcelery · 24/10/2011 16:30

thanks black.

Hi Cheese! Smile Welcome to the thread.

Night training is fine. I just waited until they had dry pull ups every morning for a few weeks and then stopped putting them on. I didn't really mention it to them, just gradually let it happen. Dd was at least 5 and ds was 3. No stress, no pressure.

I have run around and decluttered all over the kitchen. It is not tidy yet (still playmobil everywhere) but much better than it was.

Gossip I am but a weak - I have had to make lasagne for tea tonight. The thought of yours bubbling away was too much for me. I had spaghetti planned so it wasn't too big departure Grin

OP posts:
Cheeseandseveredfingersarnie · 24/10/2011 16:33

my older 2 were fine night training.ds2 is just too wet through!we did try,he asked to sleep with no pull up but after 5 weeks and only 1 dry night a week on average we gave up.were not thinking about it,i8tll happen-although school nurse thinks im incredibly slack(shes not wrong there!).

Carrotsandcelery · 24/10/2011 16:58

Dd took her time but got there in the end. The worst thing you can do is make a big deal out of it.

The school nurse is just doing her job. We are constantly harrassed about my ds low weight and slow weight gain. There is only so much food you can put in a 6 year old. Shock We were basically told that they know that we are doing our best but that they have to mention it or they would be hauled up if it became an issue at a later date.

I am excited. We have already had 2 replies to ds's party invites, both saying they would love to come. What a relief. You never know how people are going to react to these things when they know your child has problems, especially when the problem does impact socially. It restores your faith a bit after some very negative reactions Grin

OP posts:
bessie26 · 24/10/2011 19:01

Ahhh, good news about the party replies carrots Smile what are you going to do?

I don't see how you can train them to be dry at night, we're telling DD1 to shout (for DH!) if she needs a wee when she's in bed, but other than that what can you do? I'm assuming it's a deveopmental thing & at some point she'll get better bladder control while asleep or wake up when she needs a wee?

I wiped down the worktops & most of the cupboard doors in the kitchen while DD1 had her tea. I've also changed all the kids bed linen & it's in the machine now.

Tonight I need to

  • pack DD1s bags ready to goto GPs tomorrow
  • go for a run
  • have a bath
  • eat dinner
  • order some stuff online
  • tidy up the remains of the birthday cake
Carrotsandcelery · 24/10/2011 19:59

bessie we are going sledging on a dry ski slope near here. It's great fun and brilliant for boisterous boys. There should be enough sledges for me to have one too Grin

OP posts:
Carrotsandcelery · 24/10/2011 19:59

BTW bessie I will happily help with the cake Grin

OP posts:
BlackCatinaWitchesHatonaBroom · 24/10/2011 20:41

I have:
cooked dinner
made beds
washed up/dried up
done cat litter tray
swept kitchen floor
mopped up wee from carpet (two accidents)
put washing machine on.

I made a pasta bake for dinner tonight. DH and I enjoyed it but the dc wouldn't touch it. So I had to make them something else.
