CC I am so excited, its stretching us abit but as dh says its a long winter, thankfully I happened to go on computer just as aerlingus had dropped prices so got flights way cheaper than last year, although we will try to be more organised in future as flights have been cheaper. and apartment costs the same, prob could get a cheaper apartment somewhere else but these ones are 5 *, A/C, dishwasher, washing machine, sky, dvd plasma tv, the kitchens have better apliances than I have at home.

Anywhere that is not holidaying in your own home is good JKS, I suggested maybe doing a Keycamp holiday in spain next yr but DS near had a melt down, wants to go back to Trabolgan where we had about 5 holidays there. Was discussing it with my Sil on our way to a wedding last Sat and they said sure we will see if we can get everyone to go Shock, I turned to DH during the meal and told him if all his family were coming for 1 week, I was going for 2 Hmm.

LOL it's at a soft play so limited bravery tbh. I just have to provide cake (forgot balloons until i was leaving Asda so not worrying as they do tie some to the tables anyway). They do sweets in a cone for party bags so no effort required there either!
It was meant to be back in May, when DD would've been only a few weeks old so wanted something easy for me.

Week ahead:

  • cake & balloons for DS1's party on Sun Cake DONE
  • as much gardening as poss
  • maybe jetwash the patio if poss
  • paint & mount DD's casts; drying atm
  • parents anniversary presents; Started

  • lunch DONE
  • check spare room is ok DONE
  • wrap/collect together parents presents DONE/see what else to get
  • small gifts for nieces & nephew DONE
  • follow ebay stuff...all finishes tonight, i get so excited watching the bids come up, lol
  • glass of wine & some tv

Ongoing:

  • Find new dentist that is taking on NHS nervous patients for me/investigate private; DH thinks his will take me on too
  • order blind for kitchen side door
  • pictures to label 'animals' & 'people' & 'cars' boxes
  • see if any toys can go/be put away
  • watch Prison Break DVDs & give back to PIL; Started; Done more
  • DS1 Party; Get cake in a bag & find big bag for bringing presents home (nt sure if he'll get many as so far from his birthday)
  • clean oven; Bought Oven Pride
  • bathroom needs a blitz; Shower head descaled
  • check length/take down/shorten front door curtains & store in vacuum bag until winter
  • finish hand & foot casts of DD; sand rough edges; leave to dry out; paint; dry; glue in frame
SilverSky · 30/07/2011 19:08

Hello all!

I'm on ML with a nearly 9mo who only sleeps in the car or when out walking. Would love tips on how to get anything done with a mobile child in house?

MIL Unhelpfully suggested getting up before the baby and doing jobs then. Can honestly say I'm knackered and this ain't gonna happen. Of course I could do stuff when he's in bed but by then after racing round after him and doing the few chores I can I'm fit to drop by then.

Any tips welcome!!!

DedalusDigglesPocketWatch · 31/07/2011 07:47

Hello.

silversky, welcome. I have an 11m ds and a 3yr dd and although ds does nap, I have horses to do then, so my housework has to be done at other times. What I have started doing is making dinner, dishing up, then while the kids food is cooling, clear up the dinner stuff, wipe down the sides etc, feed everyone, bath kids, get them ready for bed, stick them in front if In The Night Garden while i clear up dining room, get the dishwasher on, put some washing on etc, get them to bed then if I need to hoover, do it straight away. My house is not spotless but it is improving.

I have a confession to make.... I have joined the fledglings thread (blush) however, I am planning on becoming a good housekeeping thread whore, so if you will still have me, I do want to stick around :o

No list today, big, heavy, smelly job to do at the horses (fun)

SilverSky · 31/07/2011 08:18

Thanks! I too have a horse and on DIY but luckily out 24/7 for summer so I have daily responsibility to sort hoss out. Do you get to ride much? I've a smelly rotten job to so before winter too.

Yesterday I was shattered and literally peeled myself off the sofa having fallen asleep and took myself off to bed. Toys everywhere. Next pile of washing ready to go but it's on the landing. Blush

Trouble is Him Indoors adds to the mess by not putting things away that he's got out. Eg he brought DS's mobile downstairs to sort and it's been in the kitchen for four days! Angry

Today is mission get sorted!

DedalusDigglesPocketWatch · 31/07/2011 08:56

Yes, 2 horses on DIY but only out during the day, don't really get to ride much tbh, but when I do it makes my day. Today is digging out one stable and laying some rubber matting. Did one box last weekend, I stank afterwards!

I often have piles of washing to get done, I think with having horses and dh having a horse job, we get through a lot of clothes

PlumBumMum · 31/07/2011 10:25

Morning all

Hi Silversky, my best tip is not to put too much pressure on yourself to get everything done, he will only be like this for a little while longer.
Once I had 3 dcs I found I needed to get a wash in the washing machine first thing in the morning, and then you have rest of day to get it on clothes horse etc
Have you tried a travel cot with some toys put it in or outside the room you want to get stuff done, I remember when dd was that age any cleaning involved crazy dancing and singing which she thought was hilarious but distracted her from the fact I was actually cleaning and not playing solely with her.

dd1 doing practise paper
Right big basket of smalls to sort & put away
my washing pile (might do during race)
go on exercise bike
hoover (bloody hall carpet, grrrr)

Alibabaandthe80nappies · 31/07/2011 12:40

Hello all Smile

Lovely weekend with my DB and his DF. DH starts his new job tomorrow - eek.

House is essentially under control because I did a big clean on friday before they came, so just a few jobs to leave us straight for the new week.

Welcome Silver Smile I have DS1 3 and DS2 4 months. My tip is that you have to get children used to seeing you doing housework. Let them help when they are bigger, make it into a game if you like but don't fall into the trap of thinking you can only do jobs when they are asleep. Otherwise you will end up with a massively overdemanding toddler who won't let you do anything without throwing a tantrum Grin
Little routines are the key for me, for example I spend 5 minutes at the boys bath and bedtime putting away clean clothes. Clean laundry stays in a basket in the living room until I get a chance to fold it so that it doesn't get dumped somewhere in a crumpled heap and forgotten about. When I clear away the breakfast things I do one small cleaning job in the kitchen - wipe the microwave, or the cupboard fronts, or the toaster or something.
And declutter. It takes months, or it did for me anyway, but now that it's done everything has a place to live which makes it so quick to tidy up.
