I have a confession to make....

I am going to give flylady a go (blush) :o

I thought it is worth a try, and I won't join their thread, just see how I get on (hopes slatterns don't boot me off the thread)

Alibabaandthe80nappies · 10/07/2011 19:16

Alice I will join you. We are having a party here in a fortnight for DS1's birthday, and from nowhere we suddenly have 20 people coming Hmm
There are grubby corners in my house that need banishing before then. Grin

minkiemoo · 10/07/2011 23:44

Hello all! Can I say thank you to you all - read this thread on Friday and it gave me the kick up the bum I needed to get cracking on all the jobs I've been stalling on. Now feeling chuffed with progress made and very motivated to carry on.

TimeWasting · 11/07/2011 07:37

That's great minkie! Smile

We're nearly ready to go on holiday, I'll be back at the weekend with big lists I tell you, big lists. Smile

Poweredbypepsi · 11/07/2011 08:54

Hi:)
Hope it's ok to join you here I have finally realised I may need some sort of a plan for the day my house has turned into a tip and no amount of avoiding it seems to be helping!
We have 4 dcs and pregnant with dc5 I blame morning sickness for my current lazinessGrin
dh is currently working really long hours on a project so at the moment getting it under control is pretty much down to me.

I'm going to start small as I feel so awful.

Main problem is clothes washing so will try to concentrate on that today ( seriously the pile is taking over our bedroom now Blush

Washing x 3
Tidy kitchen
Make the cakes for tonight
Tidy kids room

See how I go with that i think rather than make a huge overwhelming list.

Alibabaandthe80nappies · 11/07/2011 09:56

Well done minkie :)

Hoover downstairs
Hoover upstairs
Pick up ds

DedalusDigglesPocketWatch · 11/07/2011 12:05

So, shortened version of todays task is clean round the back and sides of the loo (actually did that last week, so v quick and easy) and go through laundry area and chuck any rubbish (empty powder boxes, bottles and in my case broken pegs and fluff from the tumble) and no I haven't done it yet :0 but I have:
Hung out washload
Put a load onto wash
Emptied dishy
Mucked out horses
Been to playgroup
Made lunch.

So still pretty productive!

FreakoidOrganisoid · 11/07/2011 12:33

Ooh I'm ahead of the flypeople! Did both of those last week Smile

PlumBumMum · 11/07/2011 13:19

Well I have declutter utility which is the same as second one, and I do first every time I clean bathroom, not too bad,
I do like though as it does remind you of jobs that don't spring to mind give

DedalusDigglesPocketWatch · 11/07/2011 13:21

Well done Freak!

More dones:
DD to preschool
DS for nap
Dry washing in and folded
Wet washing hung out
Loo cleaned (including back and sides etc)
Lunched cleared up
Under highchair and kitchen floor swept

Now just having a quick sit down and a glass of water before getting stuff together to go back to the school to help with sponsered walk. Unfortunately this means having to get DS up.

After walk:
If time, go back to horses, do haynets, feeds, water and wash numnahs
Pick DD up
Strip beds
Make dinner (macaroni cheese)
Clean sheets on beds
DCs bath and bed (early enough, DD will be exhausted!)
Put washload on
Put dishy on
Clear up dinner stuff
Shine my kitchen sink [hwink]
Tidy up toys
Watch another episode of Glee [hgrin]

Alibabaandthe80nappies · 11/07/2011 14:01

Freak I've got a 3 month old baby here, cut me some slack Wink

I also did the base of the loo last week so it isn't too bad. Has prompted me to wash the floor though.

Plum - that is why I like it, because it makes me think to do things that otherwise wouldn't cross my mind.

Just having a cuppa and feeding DS2 then I must get some more done before preschool pick up.

TODAY
Me up and exercise - exercise later
Boys up and dressed - done
Unload dishwasher - done
Breakfast and tidy kitchen - done
Me showered and dressed - done
Make beds and tidy upstairs - done
Wipe over bathroom - done + 15 mins cleaning - done
Hoover and sweep downstairs - done
1 load of washing on the line + nappies
Tidy up downstairs - done
Water plants - done
Lunch and tidy kitchen - done
DS1 preschool - done
Post box - done
Mop kitchen floor
Wash bathroom floor - have hoovered in preparation
Dust everywhere
Pick up
DS1 tea
DH home
Baths
DS1 bed
Our dinner
Tidy downstairs
Kitchen clear before bed

THIS WEEK
Plan DS1's party

  • Invites - done
  • Food
  • Booze (party is for family not weenies!!) - done
  • Cake
DS1's birthday presents - books done

Hi pepsi, hope you're making good progress today with your list. I'm using the same approach with a small list rather than a really long list that is a bit overwhelming.

Although I'm really optimistic that soon I'll be tackling lists like Alibaba, Freakoid, Plum et al in no time!!!

3 more of dh's shirts left to iron and then I'll have an empty ironing basket for the first time in ages - woo-hoo!!

JustKeepSwimming · 11/07/2011 22:02

Woohoo laptop is back!!!

laundry baskets are empty yey, but ongoing list/projects are going nowhere, so much to do....

back tomorrow with lists.

Alibabaandthe80nappies · 11/07/2011 23:06

Plum - how might I go about making a Gruffalo cake? Confused

On phone so can't update but list all done bar the dusting. Smile

OP posts:
PlumBumMum · 12/07/2011 02:05

Ali a couple of ways, depends how confident you are feeling

immediately I'm thinking blue cake with green icing at bottom, few trees, and the gruffalo like the cover of the book, but simplified it honestly wouldn't be that hard,

or do you mean just gruffalo? If you draw out or photo copy pic up to size of cake, that will give you outline to carve, cover cake with chocolate buttercream, score his fur and add face details with fondant, Make on top of the pic to get right size

give me a few more ideas of what you want, must have a google to see what has already been done, and I can give you more help

Friend came with her baby to visit and then PIL came for unexpected visit so didn't get anything else done tonight!

Alibabaandthe80nappies · 12/07/2011 08:38

Plum I can do that, the outline, fab. Might need to buy a bigger tin, rectangular I am thinking.
Would you cut both halves to shape before you filled it? I can't see that cutting through jam is going to work! But that means the halves have to match exactly - eek!

Right so shopping list is
Big cake tin
Food colouring
Big cake board
Ingredients
