Welcome to the new thread ladies :)

Times recently said that in most households the women do the highest percentage of organisation and paperwork. Although I think the facts came from mumsnetGrin
It must be the multitasking thing. Tis annoying somewhat, although in our house it means I am in control
freezer done
washing done

JustKeepSwimming · 31/05/2011 12:46

Well I do all the paperwork relating to DC, DH does all finance/mortgage/bank type stuff (over my head most of that!), so all school stuff/medical stuff is down to me, but tbh i prefer to in 'control' too Grin

Not 'getting much done' here though i am going to try to stop saying that as I'm reading "What Mothers Do; especially when it looks like nothing" which says we shouldn't say that when we've been busy 'mothering' :) (not sure MNing counts though, lol!!)

See I do all the bank/financial/DCs/utilities and everything other thing - and shove bits of paper towards DH when he needs to sign/action. It really annoys me, because he has no clue about any of it. I joke about what would happen if I died - but he really would be all at sea and it does worry me.
How can he be so good at his job, and so shit at life admin???

Having quite a productive day here, we are off to the park in a bit for DS1 to let off some steam.

Hello I really lost you , I searched up and down goodhousekeeping, couldn't remember what thread was called so I kept missing it

dd1 is having laser treatment to get rid of her cataract grow back tomorrow and I have so much cake stuff to do
house is reasonable
dcs beds done today
but ironing has built up again grrr

JustKeepSwimming · 01/06/2011 08:20

Plum - hope laser stuff goes ok.

Managed orchestra with DD last night, though think she distracted everyone :)
Thinking of trying to start a bedtime routine with her from tonight so I can work towards getting out in the evenings.

Anyone ever used an online card making thing? Got all the way through one website with a cute thank-you with DD's photo, only to find the postage at it's cheapest was ridiculously expensive. (3.50 for a 21day delivery, up to £19 for a 2day delivery!?) Probably cheaper to just print 50-odd small photos of DD and stick them on plain cards.

Alibabaandthe80nappies · 01/06/2011 10:22

JKS that sounds really expensive!! We have just printed off some photos to put in with thank yous, although I am lazy and we will only send cards to people who posted gifts rather than gave them in person - because we've already said thank you for those!! :)

Slow morning here, I cannot get going. I managed to exercise yesterday evening, I have the Zumba fitness thing for the Wii. It was knackering, and I can't do the steps but it worked up a sweat so I will persevere!

I think I will get some cheap plain cards & stick a photo of DD on the front, I have thanked some people in person but tbh I can't remember if i was clear enough with everyone and some I know will get grouchy if i don't send them something, so it's easier to send everyone one.
Trickier is DS1's bday - obv family went with his birthday, but only 2 people from school gave him something. Wondering if they will give him a present in July when we 'redo' his birthday at the soft play party. should probably thank the 2 before then though!

Mini - I could do with some waist shaping, although that would involve having a waist to shape, which there isn't much evidence of here atm! Grin

JKS - PMSL at your DH and his hedge trimmer. Grin

I had an awful migraine this afternoon, I had to ring DH to come home from work because my vision had gone and I couldn't stand up straight. Went to bed for a couple of hours and I feel much better now.

Hope the mirgaine has gone Ali. Sympathies with that one, may be hormone related. Nice few days planned here,( although the last few were nice too) got to shop for dress for black tie 'do' thus need for finding a waist.(although I've only got a month to do it, so may have to resort to corsetry)
So
do waist shaping exercises
and again
starve self
shopping
rehab after shopping
more waist shaping
book counselling to deal with disappointment, grief and loss

PlumBumMum · 02/06/2011 14:24

Laser went well back again tomorrow for her check up

JKS with dd2 I printed off a thank you card that looked more like a book mark, so I got 4 on a page and printed a whole pile of wallet size photos that I stuck on, they were gorgeous

Although just recieved one from dhs cousin which was in the form of a postcard, and my friend used NSPCC and it had a couple of her baby on it.

Right I have a cruise ship cake to do for my aunt which I am getting into a right tizz about, as I'm doing it as a present so I'm hoping that it is going to be big enough

one cake baked
going to put a wash on
measure out ingredients for next cake
school run dd1 in afterschool so need to hang about for hour
homeworks & cake in oven
clean up
dinner
more cake stuff to be done

Alibabaandthe80nappies · 02/06/2011 14:33

Plum that is good news :)

Mini - I'm sure you will look fabulous waist or no. Will those shoes get another outing?

I am so, so tired. I'm seriously thinking of getting a babysitter to come tomorrow afternoon to look after the boys while I sleep, and just bring DS2 to me for feeds. Can such a thing be done?

Just back from shopping. have got a dress but not sure. Its ok and nice but I would like a bit more glam and eveningy, its brown and green silky, with sort of snakeskin type print. God it sounds hideous. Not sure if the red shoes would go. It would be a contrast I suppose. Still love me red shoes. Might HAVE to get new sandals.
Blimey, Plum cruise ship cake!!!!

TimeWasting · 02/06/2011 20:14

Evening all! Plum, glad to hear the lasering went well.

Ali, I meant to ask, I missed the birthing, did you end up with CS, or a VBAC?

We had scan and discussion with doc on Tuesday, but she wouldn't book me in for Elective cs yet. (Looks like it's a girl. Smile )

Getting someone round sounds like a great idea. It's half-term this week here, do you know anyone with a responsible teen? Or a teacher?

Evening -

  • DS bath and bed done
  • bring in washing done
  • fold all dry washing etc. done
  • sit down done
  • consider washing the pots doing
Alibabaandthe80nappies · 02/06/2011 21:01

Evening :)

Wasting - I had a CS. I went in for it two days after my due date, my ob did a VE and said my cervix was 'like a carrot'. ie. couldn't be more unfavourable so we went straight to theatre. It was totally different to my EMCS, it was scary being sober but so nice to remember what happened and we were BFing as soon as we got into recovery.
Ooh a girl, how lovely :)
I confess I am struggling to come to terms with the fact that I will never have a daughter. I think somewhere in the back of my mind I am hoping DH will change his mind and that we can try for another, maybe [need to deal with it emoticon] Sorry ignore me, hormones still talking Grin

Mini - new sandals without a doubt. You can never have too many pairs of shoes Grin

Plum - you are so clever with your cakes. I need inspiration for something easy to make for preschool on Monday. I'm wondering about banana loaf.

Right, new week, boys back to school, DH back to work, lots to get done. Nothing really got done over half-term, you think you have all this time stretching out ahead of you but it flies by.

Ali - not so much for going to bed, but I've got a teenage girl who babysits for me and I got her round one afternoon after school to play with DS1 whilst I got on with looking after the other 2.
