I am still sitting here in my overcoat and nightie Blush and eating my way through mum's christmas cheese selection [cranberry and wenselydale!)

Plumber has mended heating and hot water (two hours one way or another discussing and mending), cue me realising that every room in the house was unbelievably squalid and awful as he traisped through the rubble adjusting radiators.

I think going away for New Year is possibly too stressful Grin

Now I need to get dressed and have a bath Shock
I think considering how bad things are children may be watching telly most of the day Blush

Wendy I should value my sleep more - you have made a NY's lesson for me already.
Thankyou for the thread, and enjoy craft with dd. What are you planning?

OFM I see your dds do lots of craft too! Very blessed!

done
ds half his homework

Makingchanges · 04/01/2011 13:45

Afternoon all

Updated list

To Do

  • Take DD to school - done (just - She didn't get home until very late last night and she really didn't want to get up this morning)
  • Petrol in car - done
  • Post Office to post my sales - Done
  • Gym Done - and Shock apparently I don't drink enough water, need to lose weight, have too much body fat and have a very low calorie allowance - I'm surprised I stayed to do any exercise!!
  • Shop for a new lunchbox for DD - Hers broke this morning - Done
  • Uni work
  • Pick DD up from school
  • Take last of xmas cards down and parcel up decs boxes (When find or buy parcel tape)
  • Hoover around in lounge now tree is down
  • Put away clothes that DH sorted through yesterday
  • Dry DDs bedding - Done
  • Wash our bedding - Done

I was told off by DD this morning cos I took the tree down last night so in her school book this morning to drew a picture of it 'to remind her' Sad

I have just spent 40 minutes stood in the queue in the post office - I'm freezing and need a cuppa - Back when I have thawed

grouchyoscar · 04/01/2011 14:25

Well, I've been in bed ALL day, I'm going to get up and grab a coffee. Hello All X

swanriver · 04/01/2011 14:32

Snuggled up with dd and read her a chapter of her book
orchestrated lunch
continued with ds's homework - fractions - a fate worse than death, if there are 20 presents under the tree, and Susie has a fifth, and Santa throws away two fifths of her presents how many does she have? Try explaining that without becoming a raving loony. And more..Especially when you are trying to explain that 20 is actually one whole divided into twenty parts, not to be confused with one, although it is actually one.

Now going to sweep and mop the hall and kitchen floors
pay in cheque
and ring up about insurance

swanriver · 04/01/2011 14:35

oh poor Grouchy! very sorry to hear about your ankle in December - when will cast come off?

MC well done for taking tree down, glad dd has such good memories of it! I'm still freezing too, cold seems to have settled in my bones, vigorous sweeping may help me..

swanriver · 04/01/2011 14:37

MC I have never dared go to the gym (lycra is alarming), but remain reasonably very fit and healthy so boo to them!!

Makingchanges · 04/01/2011 15:32

Well I haven't been to the gym since August due to mystery fainting sessions so today was my first day back - I opted for the baggy t-shirt look rather than the usual lycra

I had to teach fraction of baubles on a christmas tree for my first teaching practice this year - got myself in a tiss and had a complete mind-blank on how to explain how to convert between fractions and percentages - not one of my finest hours

MintAeroBar · 04/01/2011 15:41

Hi All,

Can I join? Although I am crap at personals! Blush

Have been flying for a while, and I love it! I am now doing the missions as well, but looking forward to the kids going back to school to give myself more routine. DD has just fallen asleep on me so I will attempt to put her in her cot (yeah, right, good luck to me!!) and crack on while the older ones watch tv for a bit.

List
-put away remainder of dcs clothes
-iron my and Dh clothes (dcs done)
-hang up nappies that have ust finished washing
-sort/fold/iron dry load currently on the airer
-return pictures to mantel/bookshelves that dcs have removed to dust for me
-sort out something for dinner
-write menu plan for the week

wendy how are things? gosh, luittle Arthur a month old already! yay for good night's sleep.

well, today has gone quite well.
DS2 and dd4 especially seem to have taken well to new Nanny - YAY and more importantly new Nanny doesnt seem put off by DS2 "energy" LOL

I have managed to get almost to the bottom of the washing mountain, and do a quick sort out of the Futility.
Also been for wlk to local playground for 1/2 hour of bracing fresh air (and to show Nanny where it was!)Nanny has now gone home and DC not in too bad a mood...I expect it may all go downhill any minute though LOL!

I now need to go and contemplate dinner...not sure what to cok...will have to explore freezer I think!

right...I'm sure I have lots still to do...will BBL with a list I think..Grin

OverflowingMum · 04/01/2011 15:50

mint hi and welcome!

swanriver · 04/01/2011 17:05

Mint paperwork on the fridge - you have sent a shiver of horror through me - that's where I stash things I really don't want to deal with Blush

done
also taken twins to park for bracing fresh air and roller blading/scootering - darkness had fallen but they were still on the bicycle track gliding round...today has been a bit topsy turvey

baked potatoes nearly cooked
ds1 on the Wii - enjoyed a day bck at school I think!

house still a mess, have decluttered two bags of rubbish
put them in the bin
another load of washing

sweeping and mopping no

I think I will run a hot bath for all now and possibly tidy their bedrooms while they are in it. Dd is in quarrelsome mood - hope the bubbles sort her out

scattyspice · 04/01/2011 19:18

HAPPY NEW YEAR y'all Grin.

wendy thanks for the thread. There seem to be a confusing number of flylady threads going.

swan hope you had a good new year trip. When do yours go back to school?

poncy Me time. Good for you!

grouchy sympathy for the broken ankle. What a pain!

mint welcome aboad. How old are your DC? (just being nosey)

ofm glad the nanny seems up to the job.

MC DS cannot get his head around fractions at all! despite me cutting up apples by way of practical demonstration.

DD was up at 5.30 this morning, couldn't wait to get back to school (I'll swap her for your 4wk old wendy).

Back to work. Hospital is heaving!

Done:
laundry

To do:
banking

OverflowingMum · 04/01/2011 20:38

Hi scatty , wow 5.30 us early!

swan hope bubbles worked for dd!

ok...have spent the evening trying to teach DD1 and 2 how to purl LOL they have only just got the hang of knitting, but knitting kit they got for Christmas requires purl too! DD2 did suprisingly well, DD1 got massively frustrated LOL

now need a quick list for tomorrow to help motivate myself...

S&S bathrooms
reboot laundry
meet nanny at shopping centre to stock up on arts and craft stuff, and must buy potatoes!
home for lunch
drive up to DC school to show nanny where it is, quick (cold) play in playground near school

reboot laundry
tidy our room
maybe fit in a run leaving nanny with DC ...
find important documents for interview next week
FIND BOOK BAGS!
Dinner - roast gammon
littlies bath and bed
another 3 rows of knitting with DDs (deep breaths!)
another 10 rows of my knitting
probably more!!

BBtomorrow Grin

swanriver · 04/01/2011 21:55

and the pressure on the boiler is falling SadSad which means there is a leak in the system somewhere...which means hours of plumbing work ahead this week as there are a lot of pipes under floor boards...

I should not have turned off heating when I went to Ireland! Dh warned me. Sad must be some sort of movement in system caused by cold weather. This house is so so cold without central heating..and the electrics tend to fuse when we put on electric fires.

So ladies Enjoy your warm houses! still warm here but I suspect not for long...

Back to school tomorrow, ds went back today, twins had no sleep last night due to cold bedrooms so kept them home to recover/sleep. Not that they did, much...Hmm

swanriver · 04/01/2011 22:01

OFM dd was knitting this hols (8 yrs)and so was I. Got very bored by my scarf pattern in Ireland and tried jazzing it up with squares of alternating moss stitch (I think it was moss stitch Confused...can see now why people invented all those impossible patterns, sheer boredom on cold winter evenings, turning serviceability into art. Dd is not good at knitting and lost patience almost immediately.

Her new thing is to want to embroider like SIL (who is about to give birth). She was asking me if SIL would teach her when baby is a month old and no longer any trouble to look after ShockWink

MintAeroBar · 04/01/2011 22:35

Thanks for the welcomes!

List
put away remainder of dcs clothes
-iron my and Dh clothes (dcs done)
hang up nappies that have ust finished washing
sort/fold/iron dry load currently on the airer
return pictures to mantel/bookshelves that dcs have removed to dust for me
sort out something for dinner
write menu plan for the week
-sort out paperwork on the fridge
27 fling for today
15 mins decluttering for today

See what I did there?? Missed the bloody ironing and paperwork!! Deliberate procrastination in the form of sorting out the older DCs things for school tomorrow including polishing shoes! I DETEST paperwork and ironing! Angry

Off to shine the sink!

swanriver · 04/01/2011 23:51

well done Aero, still paperwork is out in open at least, I'm sure you will tackle it soon, if it's only just a pile on top of the fridge Grin

Searching for one vital letter to confirm an appt. Nope. Piles of paperwork to sort in drawers. I think I must have done crisis tidying before Xmas aka as stuffing things in cupboards and under tables.

Found ds2 Beavers' badge though, by chance. in Dental section of concertina file. Blush

Cannot find parking permit which I so so cleverly renewed in October, expired Dec 31st. Using visitor's permits instead. May have to buy new one. Sad

oh dear off to bed..

OverflowingMum · 05/01/2011 09:06

morning all

swan oh no, oiler situation sounds bad. Hope you've still got heat this morning. LOL at DD expecting a one month old baby to be no longer any trouble , bless her!!

aero I never iron anything (hardly) and only tackle my paperwork when I cant fit any more on top of the microwave Blush

ok... we are all up and breakfasted and dressed. DH gone to work, DS1 gone to school
Girls have done some impromptu reading of various random reading scheme books Shock
Am off out to shops for craft stuff in a bit.

OverflowingMum · 05/01/2011 09:07

boiler not oiler LOL

swanriver · 05/01/2011 09:19

LOL oiler! Yes, that would be even worse..

house still warm...{sorry, I know this is boring}

kids to school with PE kits, and everything else they need.

reprieve from recycling due to bank hol on Monday..which means I can now tackle:

KITCHEN
PLAYROOM
broken down into
Laundry put away
breakfast wash up
cereal away
dw unload
saucepans in sink
toys redirected
milkbottles out
uniform piles back in drawers - am I the only mother who puts out their kids' uniforms, only to find they have got dressed from the drawers instead Hmm?

then all the other stuff...can't bear to think about it yet..
