Hello everyone
Thought I'd better update to January given that my baby is now one month old and hadn't arrived when the last thread was begun!! Can you believe a month has already passed!

OP posts:
scattyspice · 11/01/2011 18:39

Good idea to avoid poorly people wendy can't be too careful with a newborn, esp other kids!

Congratulations OFM!!

Done:
buy broccoli
laundry
cupboards
wash up
turn up dds trousers

OverflowingMum · 11/01/2011 20:00

evening all

well...as you know I got the job!!
Was a bit more complicated than I knew in the end. I had to choose between a 3 day job WITH on-call duties (1 night/week and 1 weekend in 7) or the 4 day jo WITHOUT on-call.
I hate on-call, and really did not want to go back to having weekends and evenings disrupted by work....so I went for the 4 day job.
I'm quite stressed about going to 4 days...and in an ideal world would have preferred not to ..... but needs must and all that. Am trying to focus on the positives...and not dwell on the negatives as I keep getting upset/stressed....
anyway...new Nanny is going well so far...
House relatively under control despite not much FLYing by me (yay!)

Drank rather too much wine last night, but have made for it by going for a 3mile run tonight LOL
now going to get something to eat...

BBtomorrow, whan I'll hopefully be a bit more organised!

wendy hope you had a good day today. Nothing wrong with staying in and taking it easy if you ask me!

Makingchanges · 11/01/2011 21:37

Quick fly by - congrats OFM don't blame you re on-call work.

Essay nearly done then i'll be back

wendyhappysmile · 12/01/2011 09:31

hi all
OFM sure you'll find a way of coping with the increased hours, and the new nanny sounds great. Well done!
changes hi hope essay going well
scatty and everyone hello

Baby DS been very sleepy yesterday and today but seems ok otherwise, still feeding well and slept all night apart from a feed. He is getting very good at going to sleep on his own! Smile

I am trying to adjust to how much more I have to do - the washing, cleaning and general trips out/activities/appts seems to have exploded! Sure that I'll get used to it but at the minute I have gone from 2 children with busy activities etc but nice and calm and ordered to chaos and lots of extra stuff to do! Confused

Right, need to do some of the stuff now! have a good day all

To do
washing, ironing, drying
bottles
sweeping
tidy upstairs (tip!)
ballet tonight
dishwasher
what's for lunch/tea?

OP posts:
swanriver · 12/01/2011 11:04

Wendy 3 = more cleaning and washing, but with less visible effect Grin
you are doing very well to manage all of that

Grouchy hope you are having a good day with the ankle and not getting too frustrated

OFM you'll be brilliant, it is just adjusting that makes one feel so wobbly, and just think in spring ds2 will go to nursery n orning an dyou might actually get a morning OFF. I am trying to emulate you with the running btw...Wink jst a bit of chasing dcs, but enough for me to see it makes one feel great!

funtimewincies · 12/01/2011 11:42

Hello, lovely to see you all again, congratulations OFM Grin.

Unfortunately, over Christmas I've not so much as strayed from the true path, as launched myself into the ditch beside it and am lying in the mud cuddling a bottle of something strong in a brown paper bag Blush.

So this morning I'm taking the ecover by the spray and cracking on!

Done...
Nappies on airer to dry.
Sheets wash done and on radiators.
Ds1 sorted and at school (thank you dh Grin!)
Breakfast cleared and dishwasher on.
Towels wash done.
Worktops scrubbed and sink cleaned.
Kitchen clutter and recycling sorted.

Still to do...
Sweep and wash kitchen floor.
Tumble towels.
Clean bathroom or downstairs loo.
Hoover lounge.

Ds2 (13 months) has been up all night with a revolting cold, so is obligingly having a nice long nap this morning Smile.

Starbear · 12/01/2011 19:31

congratulations OFM Grin

OverflowingMum · 13/01/2011 12:23

thanks all!
Quiet round here today...
well, today is day off paid work for me. Am trying to catch up, but I'm not feeling great Sad
Am getting myself a bit stressed about the whole job thing, plus all trying to adjust to new nanny and routine etc... I havent been sleeping well and am totally shattered. I have been grumpy with ds2 this morning ( who is also stressed by new routine and very tired bless him) so am now feeling guilty for being grumpy...which makes me feel more fed and therefor more grumpy ....sigh... Am trying hard to snap myself out of it...

I have managed to go shopping for last bits for dd4 bday tomrrow, so that's good Grin
now going to go and wrap presents whilst ds2 has a nap.

very sadly though my laptop has died Shock it just switched itself off last night and wont turn back on Confused
I am now using dh work one, but will struggle tonight as dh will be home, and ds1 also uses this one for homework....how will I survive without my laptop?!? Could help with my new years resolution though of spending less time on the computer LOL

Right, off to do something useful.

BBl Grin

Starbear · 13/01/2011 12:34

There you are I was looking for a new thread before I posted. The first few days are awful when you have a new routine. Plan a treat for you and a different one for the kids for next week then you'll have something to look forward to. How about a lovely breakfast with everyone?s favourite things (not just the health stuff) Or get yourself something new to take to work with you. Like a new bag something simple. Me I would treat myself to coffee & cake in town with a magazine for me and a magazine for the kids.
Well I've been to a lovely coffee morning at a Mum's house. The house was lovely and originally the same size as ours. I have loved the extension they have put on it and the way they have decorated. I'm going to have to copy!!!! More play dates in the diary.
Very lazy this morning 1 load of washing in the machine. Blush
No time for a list now back later with things ticked off a on going list.
Ds at a play date so I have time to catch up

Starbear · 13/01/2011 13:42

Right 15 min break and post my list.
I have overdosed on tea, cake and pastries! So I?m feeling that I?m on a sugar downturn! Must change my habits but people keep making lovely things around me Blush.
Right my list today
Clear the countertops of food & plates (the cakes and pastries went in my mouth instead of the bin!) Done
Make beds Done
Fold clothes Partly done
x 2 or 3 Load W/M
x 2or 3 Load dryer Done
Clean bathroom
Hoover
Dust
Take out rubbish
Recycling
E-mail to Soroptimist International I have been asked to be an After Dinner speaker!
Shopping
Make a list for tomorrow

scattyspice · 13/01/2011 14:55

I love visiting peoples houses starbear, inspiring Smile.

Its bound to be stressful ofm, how did DS2 get on with the nanny on Mon? If he is ok then everything else should fall into place eventually Hmm. I am saving for a laptop of my own too, between DD, DS and Dh I can't get near the comp!

To do:
school run
make GP appt for DS (nosebleeds again)
reboot laundry
put away clean clothes
dust
kitchen clean up

Hey Ho best be off.

Starbear · 13/01/2011 15:04

About to walk out the door to collect Ds playdate fell through as the other kid has a tummy bug and has been taken home early. So I might not be able to catch up! Maybe I'll get Ds to do some dusting!
1 more load in the W/M
I'll take the rubbish out as I go to school.

Starbear · 13/01/2011 15:05

Hi Scatty I want to take photos & DH around to show him Blush Maybe if I'm very nice they'll invite us for dinner te he!

wendyhappysmile · 13/01/2011 20:53

hi all
another manic day, except I snuggled with Baby DS this morning when he had his morning snooze Smile instead of doing jobs! Had to catch up all day but it was worth it.
Felt better for visiting a friend.
DH driven to Kent for a funeral then visiting a university friend on the way back. Managed admirably to get three DC bathed and to bed reasonably on time! Haven't done many jobs though and off to iron and watch The Good Wife (soapy TV drama but I like it Smile)

swanriver · 14/01/2011 00:16

Star soroptimist speaker! wow, very impressed
OFM thinking of you, and hoping you are feeling a bit better, horrible when one gets that tense feeling, knot in stomach - like one is perpetually waiting for something to go wrong

Wendy amazing! I still can't manage it alone without it taking hours and or falling asleep in someone's bed. Glad you had a lovely morning with baby.
Scatty hope all is well

Starbear · 14/01/2011 09:11

Morning all
Wendy How lovely, yes worth not doing jobs.
DS was poorly last night and he fell asleep next to me in bed while I listen to the radio. Nothing like giving your child the memory of snuggling next to mummy.
OFM Enjoy today. I hate that worried feeling.
Swan When you get asked to be an After Dinner speaker you know you've reached that serious bit of middle age. I can't help thinking of Fred Flintstone and his lodge. I think this is the respectable women?s equivalent.
Well! DS is off school as he complained of a tummy ache and I couldn?t risk sending him to school and the school complaining that I sent him in knowing he had a tummy bug! He is a cheerful chap so I don?t know if he is having me over. So I?ve told him he has to stay in his room all day, no telly, he?ll have to come food shopping with me! I won?t play with him, otherwise he might get the idea that being off school is great.
Back after breakfast with list Smile

OverflowingMum · 14/01/2011 11:07

morning all

star wow, most impressed by after dinner speaking!

scatty poor ds with nose bleeds. DS1 had such a bad one once he was sent home from school, it lasted ages! (only one he has ever had though Confused

swan morning, hope day going well

wendy I used to love snuggly naps with dc when they were little. DD4 was such a snuggler, she still comes into our bed in the morning for a snuggle sometimes!

well, today is dd4 bday...bike and presents all well received! she has gone to school as giddy as anything - I pitty her teacher today LOL

I slept well last night but still feel rubbish Sad

DS2 was really happy to be left with nanny first day...but has got progressively more upset as I left as the week went on and I suppose he realised I was going to work and wouldnt be back for a while. He was very upset when I left on Weds Sad He does seem to like her though, and always is happy with her when I get back...bottom line is he just wants to be with me really .... sigh...
I'm hoping he'll settle more as he gets more used to her, and it is definitely nicer for him being at home, going to the park, feeding the ducks etc...

anyway...have been for meeting with head teacher re dd3 this morning...seems they are now able to provide her with the 1:1` sessions that were recomended but they originally said they couldnt provide. Shows that kicking up a fuss is worth it! So that is good at least, and probably means I dont have to pursue the appealing against the leas refusal for a statement at this stage...
Then been to Morrisons and we went in cafe as it is DS2 new obsession since DH took him one day in the holiday ("go to Morrisons get a reindeer bun!")so have been for an Elephant Bun (no reindeers any more LOL) and a coffee (me not ds - he doesnt need caffeine!)
Have loads to do now, but I am seriously lacking in motivation...will get on with it in a bit I think...

Right...BBL Grin

swanriver · 14/01/2011 12:57

OFM really feel for you over ds2, parting is so hard. You sound very motivated to me, I think you are allowed to be "in repose" sometimes you know; elephant buns sound perfect antidote to life's more serious responsibilities....Have also been feeling rubbish these last few weeks, like bursting into tears constantly, so it's not just you or work, I think it's just Life. Trying very hard today to turn around my negative feelings and not be stressed/seize up. Sometimes one feels trapped in circumstances of one's own decision making which somehow feel like they weren't one's decisions Confused

Holed up in the playroom, as rest of house covered in mess and muddle from painter, I seem unable to cope with the disruption. I suppose house will look better in the end!!![ever hopeful]
Car taken for MOT and essential repairs so have had a long walk home which is good. Now going to try and tackle some of these piles of stuff (from car...[blush)

OverflowingMum · 14/01/2011 13:47

swan "Sometimes one feels trapped in circumstances of one's own decision making which somehow feel like they weren't one's decisions" That is it EXACTLY I think! You are always so insightful! I am now also off to try and stop negative thoughts positive business LOL

OverflowingMum · 14/01/2011 14:40

DS2 has spent the last hour playing with DDs new Doll's House! He is being so sweet, keeps telling the dolls to "come wash hands for tea time" and talking to himself! He never plays by himself usually! Bless him, he's been quite sweet for him!

Right...off for school pick up then after school chaos...will go for run later in hopes it will cheer me up! BBLGrin

Starbear · 14/01/2011 14:50

Afternoon,
OFM Think of DS2 upset as a bit of character building. My Ds?s life is so lovely that I have concerns that when he becomes an adult he?ll have a nasty shock. He safe, she lovely, as time goes on you?ll get used to the idea.
I am so grateful to the new order that I can earn a good wage to help my family when it?s needed.
Swan really not looking forward to the disruption. I hope DH will forgive my moaning when the time comes.
Right, Ds is now having a nap. We had a confusing morning with him not looking or behaving very ill! By 1.30 pm he decided that he wanted to go to school and started crying. Not sure, if he totally understands the concept of manipulation Hmm I have made the morning very boring for him by just getting on with housework and he wasn?t allowed to do anything but play in his room or read books. The last book he was looking at was his children?s bible!!! I do feel ?had over? and DH won?t be pleased if DS is jumping about! I not taking him swimming just encase, which is making me cross as it?s such a waste of money. ......Or should I Confused
Back in a mo with my done list.

Starbear · 14/01/2011 15:09

Today I have........
Made my bed Done
Made Ds?s breakfast Done
D/W emptied and reloaded Done
Given the bathroom a good clean Done
Sorted out some more of Ds?s clothes and drawers Done
Hoover?d the house. Even brushed my room with a floor brush as my sister suggested to get rid of hair in the carpet. But I must say there wasn?t very much as I think the ?Henry? appears to do the job Done
Dusted my room Done
W/M x 3 Bathmats, washable rug and now whites Done
E-mail bounced back from Soroptimist so now have to do a letter it will be cut and paste Hmm
Right Wake up Ds & food shopping!

OverflowingMum · 15/01/2011 09:52

morning all

Am feeling a bit brighter this morning! Went for a 4 mile run yesterday evening and actually came back in a much better mood!

Have also had a lovely lie in today for the first time in ages, am still in my pjs LOL

I do have lots to get done today though..so a list:

Dark washing on X2
Lights washing
whites washing
pursuade girls to tidy room
tidy littlies room
tidy our room
dust upstairs
hoover upstairs
tidy lounge and dining room
dust downstairs
hoover downstairs
order grocery shopping asap

also have dd4s bday party from 1.30-3.30 Thankfully it is a soft play one, with party bags included, so not too stressful!!

right...off for a bit coffee to kick start the day! BBL Grin

scattyspice · 15/01/2011 12:05

OFM DS2 sounds a bit like my Ds, he cried on leaving me from nursery right through until half way through year2! By which point he would say, 'I don't know why I cry, I just feel sad when we say goodbye' Sad. He still goes througha rather protracted goodbye routine (even if I'm just popping out for milk!). Good luck with DD4 party.

swan Tis the time of year. Blue Monday coming up!

star don't feel had. When dd is off colour she swings wildly from high energy to collapse and back again.

DD wants coleslaw. Back later.

Starbear · 15/01/2011 17:24

Afternoon, have a saturday afternoon to myself DH has taken Ds to see his Uncle and grown-up cousins & uncle.
OFM Love your willpower to go out for a 4mile run. I must,I must do something about my fitness. Glad it made you feel better. I know I know it could work for me too!
Right today
I have taken Ds to Beavers
sorted 1 W/M and reload.
Checked my bank balance and credit card Sads then which shopping and only brought pants for DS. I have stumbled on a 'How to save money' tip. Check your credit card balance before you go and you really won't spend on anything you really don't need. Now the lattes have to go and the packed lunch has to come in Sad
Watched the film 'The Black Swan' with Tyrone Power and Maureen O'Hara. Boy! they don't make films like that any more [smile
Right, I'm am going to do some Ironing Shock
