Hello everyone
Thought I'd better update to January given that my baby is now one month old and hadn't arrived when the last thread was begun!! Can you believe a month has already passed!

Morning all

Areo - Welcome I am impressed with your list. I don't tend to iron either, only as and when I need it cos I also detest ironing

Swan hope you sort the boiler out and find the permit - I am always finding paperwork etc in the wrong places.

OFM Enjoy your day with your nanny - Seems to be going well.

Today I need to put some serious work into both the house and the sorting - House isreally suffering from the xmas holidays and DD being home alot. DH is back tonight so could do with it being a little tidier than at minute.

I'm going to do 15 minute blasts of housework, and 30 minute blasts of uni work to see if I can make some headway. I'm also going to print my list out so I don't get distracted updating it and wander onto other threads.

To do

  • Update contact details for DH and FIL with school - currently only have mine which is no good when at uni
  • Washing
  • Hoover lounge
  • Wash up pots from yesterday (Clearly no shining of sinks for me)
  • Tidy up bag mountain at bottom of stairs
  • Delimescale shower attachment
  • Clean bathroom
  • Declutter en-suite bathroom - too many half empty bottles in there - Need to be ruthless
  • Parcel up last of decorations / cards etc
  • Wash gym kit from yesterday
  • Uni work
  • Whats for tea and dinner from my health eating plan (failed at this yesterday with choc pud and custard I found in the cupboard)
  • Empty and sort snack / baking cupboard out - things are falling out of there
  • Empty and sort cereal drawer out

That will do for a start - see how I get on. Off to get timer

wendyhappysmile · 05/01/2011 09:39

Morning old timers LOL
Poncey you are right, Flying is about lifestyle not housework and an attitude to life I think, to be philosophical! Trying to organise life so you can enjoy life! Good idea on the toy photos!
swan hope heating situation improving?! My DD did the uniform thing this morning too, you're not the only one! I end up with lots of worn once or twice uniform in the drawers and nothing absolutely clean!
Making blimey don't crash and burn, that's a huge list
Mint welcome

Trying to get Baby (can't seem to get my head around calling him DS2, he doesn't seem like a DS yet! Does that make sense he is just a baby! LOL) into a loose sort of routine, so he stops demand feeding at night and getting tummy ache and crying. sure that's what's happening! Otherswise just taking life easy and trying to enjoy every minute of it! That's my only New Year's Resolution this year. I think it covers everything - weight, getting fit, spending time with family, me time, etc etc!!! Smile

Morning all
HAPPY NEW YEAR Grin
Feeling very ill today and I thought staying in bed would make me feel better but it hasn't.
Sorry to be cheeky could we go back to daily threads as I just can't cope with the very long threads here! Confused
I've gone back to my old name!
Wendy and Poncy I think you are both right. I've done very little housework over the holidays and the family is still in together.
New Year's Resolutions
High on my list is spend less time on MN. I will always post on this thread though it an addiction Smile I love it but I spend 1 hour on it instead of exercise. I've got to lose 2 stones Sad
Right THE BIG NEWS we have planning permission so once the building starts we might be unplugged from the internet anyway!
No list today as I feel like death warmed up.

swanriver · 05/01/2011 12:19

starbear - sorry you are feeling so ill
Congrats on planning permission - my advice is Storage Storage Storage for your possessions/furniture whilst building work in process, worth every penny.

I fear that you and Wendy may have had tidy houses to start with (thus negating need for housework in hols Wink

wendy yes I think they get a bit sucky and don't know what they want in middle of night, sometimes just want to go back to sleep really. Ds2 was like that.

tackling paperwork! slight improvement in drawer crisis!

Starbear · 05/01/2011 12:21

Swan That's the point I've been cleaning instead of living. So I'm going to calm down and get out more. Just disinfect the loo and go! What do you think!

Starbear · 05/01/2011 12:22

Right I'm off to get a shower and put the W/M on!

swanriver · 05/01/2011 12:22

Now, my advice on diet front is think: I am going to lose just IIb in next two weeks, that's all. And so on and so forth. It will only take minor adjustments nothing drastic at all...I ate some Black Magic yest. It was revolting - put me right off choc for a long time...Still ate five though, it just shows how boring food can be.

OverflowingMum · 05/01/2011 16:53

afternoon all

am feeling quite stressed Hmm

Day was fine really. Nanny was fine, did lots of arts and crafts with DC...and cleared up Grin
But I do find it REALLY stressful having someone else in the house all day....don't think I could ever cope with a Nanny if I was at home Hmm I felt like I had to try and ensure DC were on best behaviour all day LOL I'm sure she will feel better when I'm out too and she can just get on with it! She was fab though, and dc seem to like her...

havent really don emuch on list...did laundry and bathrooms, half tidied my room.
Bought lots of arts and craft stuff....
didnt get chance to run...and have resorted to now chilling a bottle of wine so looks like that wont happen tonight LOL

Am now getting stressed about interview on Monday...will be a V stressful day! Girls first day back at school, new Nanny's first proper day and job interview...what a nice chilled out day....NOT
Also have to decide before next Mon whether to go for the 3 day a week job or the 4 day a week one....very complicated...
Prefer the age range of the kids in the 3 day job....prefer the staff team in the 4 day job...3 day job with Nanny would leave us not much better off...4 day job would obviously leave us better off...4 day job may not feel too much worse to what I was working ( 3 days hours but spread over 4 days so still 1 day off) BUT it would e nice to have 2 days off....plus can I cope with only being able to collect DC from school 1 day a week Confused will ponder after wine LOL

will BBL for individuals....cooking dinner whilst MNing just now!!Grin

scattyspice · 05/01/2011 19:24

Oh dear OFM sounds like a compromise is inevitable (1 way or another). I also find it easier to care for Dc if no other adult present (even dh) (esp my mum). I t means i can cheat LOL.

swan LOL beavers badge in dental file! Good attitude re weight loss.

starbear good news re building. When do you start? Weekly threads seem to go quick and always the faff of starting a new one on Mondays!

MC and minty wow productive!

wendy Wish I'd cracked down on DD at nights (then she might sleep better now!).

Done:
hall tidy up
fridge clear out
wrapping paper put away!!
laundry

wendyhappysmile · 05/01/2011 21:10

swan you are right about the weight loss. That's what I'm supposed to be doing, just cutting back, and I'm going to start just 10 mins of yoga every day, after the six week check with doctor. Feel like I'm allowed six weeks off!

star I will start a weekly thread on mondays if I remember as a compromise!
OFM Confused don't know what I'd decide there re: job! Sure you'll make the right choice!

Well, I was steely strong tonight and didn't feed Baby DS (new name!) and it took 12 minutes of yelling and he fell asleep. Hard to watch your baby crying but he just needed to sleep - that was over an hour ago and he's still asleep so obviously is fine! Fingers crossed for a good night's sleep for me LOL

Right off to get ready for bed!

OP posts:
swanriver · 05/01/2011 22:11

Scatty you are so right about the cheating LOL.
Wendy hurrah for settling baby! Sometimes they do just want to be left in peace.
OFM not sure what to advise..I think you have to go with gut feeling. I would try four days to start with as you are used to that, and then possibly change to three (if that job still available later?)when ou are more confident about Nanny being "you" ifysim. I suspect you are concerned about afternoons when they come back from school and how she/they will manage. But on the other hand it is a shorter time than you might think, certainly shorter than being at school, which they are at most of the day, without you...ifysim.

Starbear you do have a life already you know, well from what you say on this thread! But don't judge yourself by the cleaning at any rate...

Well, I tackled the paperwork today and the calendar, did some exercise with kids, and ate turnips instead of chocs...otherwise house is still AWFUL, decs still up, and dd still managed to have a tantrum before bed (although dh managed to be a saint and calm her down quite quickly) We also had no telly Grin and they played and listened to McFly!
House still warm Wink

swanriver · 05/01/2011 22:16

Oh, OFM I see you mean 4 FULL DAYS...or is Nanny going to pick them up every day even when you come straight home at 3.30? Sorry if I misunderstood.

Dh has told me to get an early night, so leaving mess all around me I am departing..

Jas · 05/01/2011 22:57

Oh, thanks Wendy for the thread. I like being an old timer. I looked the other day and thought I was going to have to join the new people thread.

I'm a fairly rubbish FLYerand very irregular poster at the moment, but as usual, NEED to get back to the old routines.

I will try and read up and catch up properly tomorrow.

OverflowingMum · 06/01/2011 08:36

morning all

wendy hope you had a good night's sleep...well done baby ds2!

scatty yes, there will be compromise somewhere...

jas good to see you again!

swan...yes the jo choice is between 3 full days or 4 full days...Current arrangement is I will be doing 3 full days (from next week) and nanny will collect from school. But when the new jobs start I prefer a lot about the 4 day a week job....plus it would help financially..BUT do I really want to increase to 4 days etc...
Anyway, hope early night helped!

right...a nice lazy start here today! All still in PJs! No nanny today, so as scatty says I can cheat LOL

house a mess...again...sigh, so lots to catch on!

A list:

reboot laundry
clear breakfast things
load d/w
tidy dining room, sweep floor
tidy/clean kitchen
sort out shoe cupboard
sort out coats
tidy hall

swanriver · 06/01/2011 09:34

OFM Four full days sounds like a big change of pace.

house still warm!
recycling done (piles and piles of soggy cardboard)...now off to hospital to check ds1's leg latest Grin

Starbear · 06/01/2011 09:35

Morning All Morning OFM Good luck with the job choices.
Swan You are a sweetie. We must get together soon anyone down our way is welcomes to join. Swan How about meeting at Petersham Nursery, Kew or Richmond one day?
Right must'nt dilly-dally as I have made a resolution not spend to much time on this machine.
Load W/M
Make the beds
Tidy kitchen
Shopping for food and bits
Make meatballs in pasta sauce
Clean the fridge
DS has a friend over, Must have downstairs looking at least tidy.
laters Grin

swanriver · 06/01/2011 12:39

Kew would be lovely...and I have a free guest pass[s] for the Gardens. Or Richmond, which you probably know better than me.
However I may need to wait for two weeks before I can think of a date as I am feeling overwhelmed by administrative problems/dcs' appts/builder is coming next week to do hall and ceilings. However once he is here, it would be lovely to get away from the dust etc so to meetup would be GREAT! Any date would probably do though from two weeks...so you are welcome to put one in your diary...(as I know you are more organised than me) any day except Wednesday! And mornings/lunchtime till 2.00pm are good as have to get back for pickup.

OverflowingMum · 06/01/2011 12:45

afternoon all

swan hope ds leg is doing well!

swanriver · 06/01/2011 13:09

OFM my mum has a hoover graveyard. Literally four or five hoovers that do not quite work that she cannot quite bear to throw away, in case they might come in useful...I am determined not to become her. The worse was a Dyson which used to live behind a curtain with a big post it note on it saying THIS HOOVER DOES NOT WORK Grinfor years...

Starbear · 06/01/2011 15:06

Swan You're on Smile We will do diaries later Must dash to pick up the boys!

Have a good afternoon see yas

OverflowingMum · 06/01/2011 18:50
