Hi All

School cancelled tomorrow so we have now officially broken up for hols. Yay.

Both Dds starting with runny noses though so hoping nothing comes of it.

I wrapped all pressies last night. Plan to go to supermarket tomorrow assuming not snowed in and get last minutes bits for xmas then NEED TO BLITZ HOUSE.

Will need to know flyzone and kelly's mission tomorrow, a la proper flylady ;)

OverflowingMum · 20/12/2010 19:01

evening all

scatty well I'm not working Thursday or Friday so you're sister will be on her own then LOL

satin yay for no school tomorrow.

well, day was quite nice really LOL. Think DH struggled though! He sent me 3 text messages about the Turkey, and then rang me later on to tell mat DS2 has lost a shoe in Asda, and then again later to tell me that the LEA bloke had rung and needed me to ring him back (but I was in a meeting with a family...grrr)Xmas Hmm
Came home to find slightly frazzled DH LOL

Now need to have some dinner....then do something useful (?tackle washing mountain) before bed!

BBtomorrow Xmas Grin

funtimefairyintinselledwincies · 20/12/2010 19:29

Sorry that I've not been keeping up to date with the news Blush, but hoping that Nutty's journey was OK and pleased to hear that Swan's party was a success.

Well we've not had any more snow here and if you can get down to the main road it's not too bad, but none of the roads down to the main road have been gritted so I'm avoiding taking the car out at the moment [cowardy custard emoticon].

Today...
Take ds' to local post office (thank heavens that we have one!) to post last of cards/parcels done
Wash 2 dark loads, 2 bedding loads and a nappy load done
Empty, load, empty and load dishwasher done
Make mince pies done
Wrap remaining presents done

Dh at his work Xmas do, so all is quiet now that the ds' are in bed (ds1 with threats that F.C. can see him not going to sleep nicely Xmas Blush).

Makingchanges · 20/12/2010 19:33

Evening all

Sounds like you were in the right place OFM I like to see DH struggle now and then, think it makes them appreciate what we do every day.

Satin yay also for school break up - hope those germs and snow stays away.

Hello to others

Good day here - Bad night for DD but a little lie in because of it (very much needed) - think she is now starting with night terrors Sad rather than illness.

Been to play centre with DDs friend and mum and one of her friends - lovely morning and lasted nearly 4 hours Shock

Back home to watch toy story 3, 3 loads of washing and lots of cuddle time, then lovely tesco man has delivered my food order - suspect most will be gone by christmas Hmm as I know DH and DD will start eying up the nice things.

Tonight am doing last minute changes to yesterdays essay then tomorrow plan to clean and drop essay off at uni.

Hope everyone has alovely evening - back tomorrow for some proper flying to get the house ship-shape for christmas

StAnne · 21/12/2010 13:13

Hi all No problems here. No time to look over Thread and chat. Might have time tonight but must post this!
Last night DH and I wrapped friends and family presents. I?ve decided not to get precious over his wrapping and let him get on with it. We?ve got mismatched labels and paper but Hey the jobs done now. Going to use old cut-out cards next year for labels they look better.
Food shopping for the holidays now done yippee!
Cleaned out 2 cupboards and my New Year?s resolutions are now are follows

  1. Don?t buy Herbal & Fruit teas you and all you know don?t drink them! Apart from 1 new age freind! Xmas Smile
  2. Don?t put food where they don?t normally go 2009 Peanut butter jar untouched behind the Fruit tea bags!Xmas Sad
  3. Put Chutney and pickles in the fridge not because we need them but other wise we forget.
  4. Stop buying ingredients for things you will never have time to cook e.g. chocolate Florintines. Various packets of nuts with 2009 date! Strange chocolate not still in the cupboard.
Well Lunch time better feed Ds. Hope snow doesn?t stop play Xmas Smile
StAnne · 21/12/2010 13:14

Oh it Nutty again I've name changed for the Christmas Navitity thread! Xmas Grin Join in it's got really quite! Xmas Sad

swanriver · 21/12/2010 13:18

StAnne LOL at the choc part of the florentines..I do that, have still an awful lot of dried cranberries [all that imaginary cranberry fudge I was going to make!

today going justabout alright, children watching a film (shame I can't watch it with them, but too much to still sort out before we go out this afternoon]

OverflowingMum · 21/12/2010 18:24

evening all
StAnne I do that too, and yes LOL at the chocolate strangely not being there any more LOL

swan hope the rest of your day went ok

MC how has your day been? Any of your tesco food still there? LOL

well another fairly nice day Xmas GrinTis all lovely and relaxed at work...with the odd glitch! Think it makes it feel quite chilled as the school is on Holiday, so the teenagers are doing other fun stuff, like party games, crafts, watching DVDs etc LOL
Spent a bit of time getting a crash course on the Wii from some of them today LOL

DH seems to have survived the day...he is shattered though!
Thankfully DDs now finished school. Poor DD4 seems unwell again though Xmas Sad and has a temp and asked to go to bed at 5.30 Xmas Shock I am so hoping they are not poorly Christmas day Xmas Sad

I have also managed to brave the freezing cold and went for another 3 mile after work Xmas Grin Surely that means I can have at least another slice of Christmas cake Xmas Wink

My last day at work tomorrow....then have Thursday and Friday to sort all the final bits...

ok...off to contemplate Christmas cake!

swanriver · 21/12/2010 23:04

I have been shattered today...not the peaceful day I was planning really Xmas Sad

quarrelling kids, loads of last minute things to wrap and post Xmas Blush yes I know that was my fault, but party took out most of last week's organisational space.

Still clearing up after party LOL or not so LOL Xmas Hmm

Dh had to give me a gin and tonic when he came home as I was actually close to tears, mainly from the perpetual bickering Xmas Sad
and I still hadn't manage to even load the dw Xmas Sad or do washingup!

however, did get kids to make some homemade cards for gps for about 20 mins!!!!!Xmas Shock and write festive messages to their cousins...
now cleared out fridge (dh now saying there is no food so that was possibly a mistake Xmas Grin
now made casserole for tomorrow
now did loads of washing up, clearing
today took kids out for long walk
bought more groceries

MC hope your day went well, I'm sure you must have been more relaxed than me Xmas Wink

tomorrow is a long trek with all three to see dd's Orthodontist, very festive I'm sure Xmas Hmm

SatinShoes · 22/12/2010 09:57

kids full of colds, coughs....

funtimefairyintinselledwincies · 22/12/2010 10:30

Another household with snotty stroppy children Xmas Sad. Making a snowman later with ds1, so hopefully that will cheer him up.

Loads more snow last night so I now officially GIVE IN. Christmas will happen with what we've got and we'll be damn thankful for it! We have some presents, there's food in the freezer, the tree is up and we have a co-op within walking distance for essentials like wine. Now that I have accepted this I'm feeling very zen Xmas Grin.

I'm not digging the car out for the delight of fighting my way around the supermarket. Dh walks to work and we're lucky in that the buses are running into town.

Makingchanges · 22/12/2010 10:53

Morning all

No time to get on here yesterday - drove to uni, handed in assignment and spoke to Tutor - DD most upset as she thought she was going to school with me to teach children how to do a full stop (guess what they have been learning in reception) - also thought she had to get dressed up. - Really cute when she wants to be. Xmas Grin Made it up to her by taking her in the uni bookshop and letting her pick some christmas story books and then McD's on the way home Xmas Blush

then ended up round local shopping centre getting DDs present to DH (Doesn't trust me to sort this apparently) and wrapping paper. Now realise I've got to get me sister another bit so got to go back again.

Any then tidying - phew was exhausted by the end of it.

Todays list

  • Back to shop for DH and DDs last present. Think DH needs me to get FILs as well - It is never ending.
  • Putting christmas tree up today if I can persuade DH to get in loft for it before he goes off to his xmas party.
  • May visit GP to pick up presents and deliver card
  • Doctors check up this afternoon
  • More tidying - Trying today to remove all my uni books etc from hall and lounge
  • More washing - did three loads yesterday - still not reached end
  • Sort out freezer so that some of Shopping delivered the other day can go in here
  • Make fresh veg soup for tea

Hope everyone is well and not too stressed with the run up to xmas yet

OverflowingMum · 22/12/2010 13:29

afternoon all
Am at work - last day whoo hoo!

Bit hectic here today though...couple of unexpected problems...and have ward round this afternoon, then meeting with locum consultant...sigh...will be late home methinks!
Had a slight panic when I looked out of window at work to see it snowing and realised we STILL don't have a turkey Xmas Shockso rang DH and told him he had to go get one this afternoon (he has been saying for past 3 days he'll get one Xmas Hmm
Snow now stopped thankfully, and as long as it holds off till I get home all we be good!

Right, best get on...

BBL Xmas Grin

swanriver · 22/12/2010 14:11

OFM you do sound v.important Xmas Grinand professional!

no turkey here either, I am looking for a small duck or pheasant...as three veggie guests.

Dd needs four teeth out for crowding reasons, paedaetric orthodontist said to dd "why are you crying?" [fgs - I think most adults would cry if they were told they needed four teeth pulled out Xmas Angry Feeling zen about it now though, (good idea *Fun) as [annoying] consultant said I needed to be very matter of fact about the op to dd. Not for another month or so though. Think all will be fine...ZEN ZEN ZEN.

Children in better (if rowdy) mood, although disappointed that we never found Chelsea Football Stadium on the Fulham Road - it is very very long and Hosp the other end....Nice cafe lunch, and lots of walking.

No snow again, although Arctic blasts predicted. All I know is that I didn't need gloves this morning and this afternoon my fingers were freezing, so temp is dropping.

MC ah, she will be keeping you up to scratch with the curriculum!

scattyspice · 22/12/2010 15:34

Everyone sounding busy and Christmassy!

swan poor dd and Angry at Dr!

Having the same trouble here as everyones else. DC still under the weather and tending to crash and burn often!
I am doing my best with crafts and biscuit making as well as housework/laundry/shopping. Bought the beast yesterday (it is the size of a small toddler!).

At least dh is home now so help is at hand.
Cinema tomorrow and guests from Friday so probably won't be back.

MERRY CHRISTMAS GIRLS! Hope you all get a moments peace and goodwill amongst the cooking and chaos. Its been another great flylady year. I don't know what I'd do without you all Xmas Smile.

swanriver · 22/12/2010 16:15

dcs have wrapped (oh I wanted to put warpped..it did look good...)presents to each other and me, and sprinkled them with glitter glue Xmas Grin

craft is very thin on the ground here Xmas Hmm
I have turned off the telly again Xmas Grin
dd is about to do some colouring Xmas Shock which is very unusual.

swanriver · 22/12/2010 16:19

sorry she turned off the computer..

more cards and presents addressed and stamped/, somehow feeling rather more festive and relaxed today.

might venture out for christmas tree later on with dcs if we can carry it between us.
Dh not off till Friday.

SatinShoes · 22/12/2010 17:13

we have had the tv on ALL day.

But DDs are poorly.

Makingchanges · 22/12/2010 17:19

Evening all

Had a good day in that I got the xmas tree up but I'm struggling to get DD to help much with anything other than making a mess and its stressing me a little (I know shes 5 but a bombsite would look less messy)

So christmas tree up - more washing done - other decs up and looking a little more festive.

Just about to go off to evening surgery at docs then need to go to shopping centre for last minute pressies that DH hasn't bought yet (Not sure why i'm fetching them whilst hes at a xmas party but there you are) Then need to go to huge shopping centre for DHs pressie - Not sure whether to go tonight (risking a late night for DD) or be there when it opens tomorrow) risking madnes, choas and possibility of more snow falling.

Tonight I am wrapping pressies when DD has gone to bed - think I may open some christmas choccies as well as I have been left to sort christmas it seems

Hope everyone has had a good day

OverflowingMum · 22/12/2010 18:36

evening all

swan Poor DD Xmas Sad and Xmas Shock at dentist
glad your feeling more chilled at least. Oh,and I'm not really important, but do try to be professional (not sure it works LOL) and do try to give impression of being more important than I am (at least until they've given me a permanent contract LOL)Xmas Wink

scatty happy Christmas...hope all goes well Xmas Grin

satin hope dds better V soon

MC Crystal Peaks not looking too bad when I left work, I popped into Drakehouse retail on way home, also V quiet..hope you get on OK. And Good Luck is all I can say if you're thinking of braving Meadowhell LOL although getting there at opening time may be the way to go...

well I have finished work for Christmas whooohooo
Ward round went well (we were V fast in absence of Consultant LOL) then meeting also went well with locum consultant.
Got away not too late...popped to shops for more emrgency shopping on way home (was only 10 mins though) as DD4 has decided she is getting an ariel doll for Christmas (apparently it is on her Christmas list that she did in school Xmas Confused anyway..ariel doll aquired!

DH thankfully has been and bought a Turkey...so we are just about all set for Christmas day Xmas Grin

Poor DD4 was really not well when I got in though...flu type thing with temp...and DS2 also poorly with cough, V croaky and temp Xmas Sad
both gone to bed early...

DH and I were meant to be going out tonight...(remember our argument???) but as DS2 and DD4 not well we have decided not to go, as they haven't been sleeping well, and teenage babysitter, though lovely and actually V good with DC, would possibly not cope with both waking up. Must say I am V relieved as I am V tired and just want to chill LOL Xmas Wink

have to try and get last few bits for DH tomorrow if snow holds off...
then am going to make mince pies and biscuits with DC...

right...BBtomorrowXmas Grin

Makingchanges · 22/12/2010 21:19

Well local shopping centre done and retail park done and Meadowhell done - All christmas pressies bought and whilst on local retail park noticed that boots had some of those £25 soap and glory boxes so purchased one for myself Xmas Wink

Only just home though so DD having a very late night and very little time to do wrapping so may have to do most of those tomorrow - will make a start tonight and see how I go.

OFM Meadowhell was awful - queuing to get in but was lucky and fell upon a parking space and the shops not too bad except argos that was horrendous and I queued for aged.

Anyway all done now - Nothing planned for tomorrow - DD wants a PJ day so I think I may have tomorrow as my clean up day as DH working from home on Xmas Eve and I have a hairdressers appointment

Right off to put DD to bed now she has put toys away - Back tomorrow

Makingchanges · 23/12/2010 00:38

Right off to bed - wrapped up all pressies that are in sight and hidden away - Still another load to do but its after midnight and I've had enough.

Done tonight

  • Kitchen Tidied
  • Presents wrapped
  • Paperwork sorted

To do tomorrow

  • Last load of clothes washing
  • Bedding washed x2
  • Make veg soup
  • Make Chilli for tea
  • Make Banana and Blueberry muffins as bananas have exploded and not going to throw them away
  • Find my lounge floor under decoration boxes and uni paperwork
  • File uni paperwork and sort out books and folders out of the way
  • Clean bathroom and en-suite
  • Toy cull - Seriously in need. DD has watched me put tree up then emptied her toy box out onto floor at side of this so now it looks a mess (after I'd tidied to put the tree up)
  • Try and book / plan some xmas activities to stop bah humbugness that creeps in.

Right I will be back - Someone make sure I get through at least 50% of my list

Night all

SatinShoes · 23/12/2010 09:45

Aw, dd1 has high temp, sore throat, cough. noooooooooooooo.

swanriver · 23/12/2010 10:04

oh Satin - poor you. Did you have lots of plans/outings? At least there is more to Christmas than just the 25th itself.

swanriver · 23/12/2010 10:06

well done MC you sound like woman on a mission! Good luck with xmas activities..it takes me a while to get to that stage of energeticness usually only about Day 4....
