Thankfully dh able to take ds to school so we could sleep in. She seems ok now just croaky. Hopefully we can have an easy day as I have work party tonight Xmas Smile.

And its snowing again!!

OverflowingMum · 16/12/2010 12:02

morning all
oh, why do things never go to plan????

DD3 now at home. Developed allergic rash over nigh, has had it before...very red and blotchy and itchy all over. Not sure what due to...maybe new fabric softener??
She was too itchy to go to school, but much better now due to large spoon of piriton...and now desperately WANTS to go in to do her nativity Xmas Hmm so have rang school who have siad I can take her...)after quizzing me about rash and confirming it wasnt anything horribly contagious LOL)

DS2 was up on and off all night...high temp and generally unwell...but he did drink some milk this morning without being sick...and went back to bed for a nap, after falling asleep on the sofa at 10.00 Xmas Shock
Sadly will now have to wake him in a bit to go to DDs nativity...sigh...

BUT meeting with LEA bloke went well. I had lots of official papers lying around, and quoted key bits of The Special Educational Needs Code of Practice at him. Got him to agree at one point that although the school had been crap in not providing the evidence he requested that they (the lEA) could have been pro-active in chasing school for info, rather than just turning down the rquest!
He then told me that I had "got everyone's attention focused, and set the ball rolling" Xmas Hmm Not totally sure what he means by that, but think it means they have realised I am not going to be fobbed off and are finally getting their arses in gear!
And finally he hinted that if I did appeal (which I am!) the LEA may not contest the appeal - which means I would not have to go to tribunal to get what I need Xmas Grin
So...just need to crack on with various bits of form filling and evidence gathering for that.

On the downside however, I have just had email form work consultant telling me the permenant jobs are advertised today, closing date tomorrow .... BUT as they are internal vacancies I can ONLY access them through the intranet at work...and I'm not back till Monday....Xmas Shock
But have rung HR who are supposedly emailing me a link so I can apply on line....phew!
And thankfully interviews now not until Jan 10th (were originally mean to be Dec 21st)
so a bit more time to prepare!

Right...need to go do something useful....have an hour before I take dd...

Please let it be the holidays soon....sigh

MsSanta · 16/12/2010 12:59

Back.... only for abit.
OFM That's really not on. They are mad!! Too much sherry if you ask me to expect people to focus on a job application this time of year. My job was advertised this way last year and I missed it. HoHoHo, no problem, as they had to re-advertise in Janaury as NOBODY applied Xmas Smile
Right
D/W loaded
Next week's timetable done
Now
load W/M
make beds
Hoover downstairs
Tidy downstairs
clean bathroom
Hoover and dust upstairs Oh! its 1pm arrrgh!
Xmas Smile

swanriver · 16/12/2010 13:42

OFM well at least Dd3 wants to do her Nativity now... you must be so relieved you took these two days off, still not what you wanted as far as leave goes. I think you'll have to bribe dh to give you a break in Xmas hols, it really isn't fair.

I have bought a hotplate, and got tearful on AIBU Xmas Sad

Santa what is the not fun part of Wimbledon LOL? It's def not an adult party now Wink everyone is bringing their children, everyone. Dh said he will turn away anyone who brings 4 (a bit mean really, but I can see his point) My poor parents! Ah well, they've made up for it now, as they permanently OUT.

Scatty hope all alright with dd and she is snuggling.

swanriver · 16/12/2010 13:45

I did do something else as well.
Bought two more strands of tinsel and some pyrex dishes.
off out again now. Will cook this afternoon, switch on telly galore, and enjoy a ready meal with kids.

Oh yes and I have to get them to wrap the teachers' presents or least label them. The secret santas and party bags and mufti this week have given me a complete headache.

swanriver · 16/12/2010 13:47

Scatty Our party is not till Sat LOL, I think I would be a bit more stressed if it was tonight Xmas Shock

MsSanta · 16/12/2010 14:50

Swan The bit that has a Pizza Express with bad, surly waiting staff & yukky food with a cold breeze not matter where you sit. As I'm part-time, I didn't get a vote until after the event Xmas Hmm
HoHoHo re party. Sorry, to laugh at your expense!Xmas Smile best laid plans Later I'll tell you about my poor brothers plans Xmas Smile quite amusing
Bathroom clean Done
D/W empty Done
Beds madeDone
Sledge back in shed.Done That way we will get snow for Christmas as I've put it away now Xmas Confused
Sorry to those that are fed up of it Xmas Blush

OverflowingMum · 16/12/2010 17:23

evening all

swan telly galore and ready meals sound the way to go!! and yes, it was such good luck I had the last 2 days off, although work would have been much more restful!

santa yes, they are mad indeed LOL

well....up and down here as usual! I managed to get DD to school for her nativity. Her rash was almost totally dissappeared by lunch time Xmas Grin
DS2 seems to e feeling better - was quite challenging throughout the nativity, and now is back to his usual levels of annoyance LOL
It seems however that DD3 may indeed have been alergic to her nativity costune (Shepherds outfit) as when she came out after the nativity she was bright red and blotchy again, all over her body, and on her face where the headdress had been Xmas Shock
She is really bad again, so has laid in a cool bath and been dosed with piriton....
and it is snowing again Xmas Shock really could do without that...

Have however managed to do a big shop on the way back from school, so we do at least have food...

and have found link to on-line Job Ad and application form...so will be spending tonight filling in application form Xmas Hmm

oh....I sooooo want to hibernate till Spring....Xmas Hmm

wendyhappysmile · 16/12/2010 20:01

hiya all
surviving!
ofm go girl with the man from the LEA - you sound like you did so well! Poor DD, that's what Arthur was like, bless him - have you had allergic reactions like that before then? Am I to expect more of it!

Have had very bad head all day - too little sleep and not enough water. I haven't missed headaches whilst I've been pregnant!

bb tomorrow

OverflowingMum · 16/12/2010 20:17

wendy oh yes, poor Arthur - I bet it was more scarey on one so small....
DD has had this about 3 or 4 times now. First time we took her to GP, we thought it may be scarlet fever or similar...but he confirmed alergic rash and prescribed piriton. Still not totally sure what does it - seems a bit random. I cant identify anything out of the ordinary she has eaten in last 2/3 days. and the fact that it flared up again massively after nativity leads me to suspect maybe a contact allergy from the costume? It was really bad this evening - looked so itchy and sore bless her.
Do you know what triggered Arthur's rash? Is he OK now?
Glad you're surviving anyway...hang in there, hope headache recedes.

OverflowingMum · 16/12/2010 20:18

oh....and have managed to apply for my own job LOL - thats that done at least! Xmas Grin

NuttySanta · 16/12/2010 21:09

Oh! That's a better name change.
OFM Well at least that's out of the way.
Got DS to write a few Christmas cards for his pals. I know it's a bit late but November was too early then our house exploded with activities. I'll plan less on the run up to Christmas next year.
Write going to write more cards now! have a good night everyone Xmas Smile

I have given in all but one of school presents! All wine LOL. Ds1 picked up the carefully wrapped bottle of wine for his teacher and it slipped out of wrapping paper onto the tiled floor!!!!I'm too mean to use bottle bags...luckily it didn't break, but after that I triple bagged every present in plastic bags. Fudge is less easy to break, although easier to break into Xmas Wink

Ds2 asked me at school gate where his present to his teacher was. I asked him if he had written her a label yesterday when everyone else was writing theirs???? He admitted not..he said he was too busy to write one..No present for her then...Tough love. She will get one though..Xmas Hmm

went to bed very late....listening to next door's baby too...(had to stop myself putting glass to the wall Blush
Wendy there is a newborn baby next door -new parents (just moved in)...4 days old...it really takes me back [sigh]mind you I haven't seen baby (boy) yet, just heard the pacing and that loud urgent cry that no-one could possibly ignore...Hope they are alright..and hope your consultant's baby is doing well OFM

Right, more coffee required, but not so much that I go to pieces..then various party errands/ tasks...

OFM sounds definitely like the rash is the costume.
LEA coordination with school stuff must require professional training to negotiate, what do ordinary people do Sad It is soo difficult isn't it to feel that you are undermining school by saying they are not providing enough input for dd3, when you want school to be supportive as well (and they probably are in some ways) I was amazed by the alacrity with which our school put Ds2 on SN register when he is just below diagnosis of Asperger's - am I justified in thinking they get extra money for SN pupils even if they don't employ any extra staff to deal with them? Anyway it is just the start, I will wait and see. So far they have been very kind and ds2 still enjoys school a lot.

There! I've woken up now...rusty brain and all that...Dcs all at school tll 1.10 final secret santa present wrapped [sigh]

NuttySanta · 17/12/2010 10:04

Morning all I'm spreading germs around the house. I have a cold Xmas Sad

OverflowingMum · 17/12/2010 10:08

swan yes, the whole special needs/LEA/assessment/tribunal situation is a total nightmare to navigate tbh. Both myself and DH are prefessional people with knowledge of child mental health and developement and education, and even we are finding it a nightmare, so goodness only knows how partents withouthout the help of that knowledge cope with it. I suppose the answer is they dont pursue it as it is too baffling, which is a real shame as of course then it is the children that suffer. The whole system stinks TBH And yes, I am in a very awkward position with the shcool, they have tried some things, have been approachable, I dont want to fall out with them (again LOL) but then the LEA say they should be doing more Xmas Confused
Anyway..hopefully your DS will get all the support he needs without the need for all these complex negotiations...
Your sounding so busy atm - I dont know how you could possibly organise a party on top of everything else at this time of year - am most impressed LOL

Well....not too bad here today
Have 5 DC at school. DD3 no longer red and blotchy!
Did manage to send dd4 in uniform instead of party clothes Xmas Shockbut we did have clothes with us as I thought they were changing into them later (as that is what other classes are doingXmas Confused) so quick change in cloakroom and all was well Xmas Wink

Have older DC Carol concert tonight. Then older dc party on Mon. Sadly, due to very odd reasoning, the girls don't finish school till Tuesday, so have another 2 days to struggle through Xmas Sad DH and DS1 on holiday after today though, so at least DH can help with drop off/pick up etc...and TBH depending on how dd3 and dd4 are I may keep them off Mon/Tue anyway as they are just shattered !

I too am feeling totally frazzled and exhausted. Am struggling to co-ordinate all the additional activities on top of usual chaos and sick DC...just so glad I had 2 days off work this week or dont think I'd have coped!
Anyway....

DS has gone for a nap at his own request Xmas Shock Xmas Grin
So I must crack on...Still have not done ANY wrapping which is not good...
may crack on with that now...and need to do lots of washing....

But first I NEED a cup of tea and a mince pie Xmas Wink

BBLXmas Grin

OverflowingMum · 17/12/2010 10:11

Nutty morning, Xposts! Hope cold better soon.

swanriver · 17/12/2010 10:14

Nutty we do it because we love it really! And we care what people think...
I rather admire my dh's insouciance in these matters...although he is totally involved in kids presents. And he quite likes buying odd presents for his niece like windup hamsters to annoyhis brother who has very good taste! He has never sent his parents/B a present or even a card, but speaks to them frequently; he claims they don't want presents.

OverflowingMum · 17/12/2010 10:17

swan yes, I think school do get extra money for all pupils on SN register. Although every LEA works slightly differently, here the school receive money from LEA depending on numbers of children on School Action, or School Action+ and then it is up to the school how that money is used.
It used to be that getting a statement would bring extra funding from LEA, but this isn't always the case now as many LEAs have already delegated their full Special Needs Budget to the schools anyway, although again this varies from one LEA to another.Am still trying to fully understand how it all works...very confusing Xmas Confused

OverflowingMum · 17/12/2010 10:22

OK....MUST go and wrap presents Xmas Grin BBL

OverflowingMum · 17/12/2010 13:35

wrapping going well...
DS slept for 2 hours, got up and came downstairs. Had a drink and some toast, then asked to go to bed again Xmas Shock tried to disuade him but he just sat crying, so I put hime back up and he's asleep againXmas Shock bless him. Think it will do him good though...just as long as he doesnt then want to stay up and play all night Xmas Hmm

Right...off to continue wrapping

I am trying to resist urge to eat Christmas cake...have had a ryvita raisin and fruit cracker instead....but dont think it has worked...Christmas cake is still calling me...why did I buy it Xmas Hmm

BBL Xmas Grin

swanriver · 17/12/2010 15:23

well, mine's gone already Xmas Wink
suppose I could buy another one....

Snow has fallen, just in time for first afternoon of hols! Very scenic, except have to drag dd to singing lesson and she is in v grumpy mood and has done no practice at all. And I have to drag the others too...too slippery to drive I suspect. Will have to think of it as country walk.

sometimes it can almost be peaceful when they are ill...Xmas Hmm I'm sure he'll sleep tonight too.

OverflowingMum · 17/12/2010 16:00

afternoon all

swan hope you get to signing and back. And yes, have had most peaceful day Xmas Blush - he has slept for most of it, flet almost child free!! Just hope I dont pay for it tonight by being up till all hours with him Xmas Hmm

Have made good progress with the wrapping, have done DDs1-4. Will try and do DS 1&2 tonight...
DH home early as he finished at lunchtime - so he has gone to collect girls, and taken DS2 with him.
I have just taken dog for long cold brisk walk - we dont have any more snow here, but still V cold and icy. Lovely walk though. Dog happy as she has been having shorter walks this week due to weather and poorly DC....poor dog !
Have decided I am going to try and go for a run tomorrow as I havent been for about 3 weeks Xmas Blush think the pavements are just about cleared enough now...although now I've decided that it will no doubt snow again tonight...Xmas Hmm

Older DC at Carol Concert tonight...will be lovely I'm sure, but could do without it if I'm absolutely honest Xmas Blush

Then have a few last minute bits of shopping to do tomorrow that I never got done Weds/Thurs.
DS2 has randomly announced yesterday that Father Christmas is bringing him a Thomas Blanket - and now he keeps going on about it!! Sadly Father Christmas was not aware that he wanted a Thomas Blanket Xmas Confused- so there could be a problem there!
Not sure where to look - have a feeling I saw some in Sainsburys(and they have them on-line)...will try there, or mothercare? Asda maybe? Trying to avoid huge shopping centre with big department stores if possible...will have to search!

right, now off to consider whats for dinner before they all get back in...

BBL Xmas Grin

OverflowingMum · 17/12/2010 16:01

and perhaps I just need to eat the Christmas cake as quickly as possible, then it's over with LOL
