But rather than a one a day baby step, we do a two a day one.

I need to get back on top of things, plus I will be on my own for the first time in over 5 years.

Shock! dp is in kitchen scrubbing out the manky washing machine draw - and says he will shine the sink! I'm drinking wine! Its a miracle Grin

thereisalightanditnevergoesout · 12/09/2010 19:49

I hope you've all had a good weekend!

KAQ - thank you that's exactly what I need - though I don't know if I'll ever manage it, but I'm going to give it a try because anything is an improvement.

I'd love your 3 week rolling menu and stock check too - at the moment, I'm still a bit too disorganised to get there by myself, I think.

And I'm going to try the 10 minute thing too. I have DD2 and DS with me tomorrow so that will bring its own challenges!

It's good to know that it can be done - I'm just going to have to work really hard.

Still, I'm pleased with my efforts today - though I've not done loads.

Keeping on top of the laundry monster
3 loads of washing
Sorted out the dishwasher (it'd been leaving bits on the dishes - discovered the rotating arms had bits in so it was just chucking it back out again - nice)
Have cleaned out the rabbits
Sorted out clothes for kids for tomorrow
(done most of packed lunch for tomorrow - will make sandwiches just before I go to bed.)
Stripped and re-made the childrens' beds
Oh, and shine my sink!

So after the school run tomorrow, I'll have to:

Tackle the girls' bedroom
Tackle our bedroom
Take a trip to the charity shop (get rid of baby girl clothes now we know we're having a DS)
clean and hoover DS's room
Clean bathroom
Still haven't tackled dining room hotspot.
Give kitchen a once over and mop the floor.
Make dinner for evening.
School work with DD1.
Get school stuff ready for next day.

KickArseQueen · 12/09/2010 20:35

sorry it hasn't c&p'd very well - you will need to put spaces like where it says wipes 8 packs ham

( mick is the cat Blush forgot to remove that!)

KickArseQueen · 12/09/2010 21:51

I've scared everyone away haven't I??? I'm a threadkiller you know :(

thereisalightanditnevergoesout · 12/09/2010 22:43

No you haven't and you aren't - I was just watching Notes on a Scandal!!

Great - I'll c & p and amend and see if there's anything else I can add in/substitute your cat for mine!

Think I might try to get to bed early-ish now though.

How come it's Monday already tomorrow?

KickArseQueen · 12/09/2010 22:50

Dunno, the weeks seem to spin by very fast. I'm off to bed too Night :)

thereisalightanditnevergoesout · 13/09/2010 07:07

I'm feeling quite motivated and energised this morning. So far I've:

got kids up and fed them
cleared away breakfast stuff
put away piles of clothes
drying one load
another load in
about to have bath then clean bathroom.

I wonder how long it'll last?

frazzled74 · 13/09/2010 09:46

can i join in? i have joined fly threads before and they really help me feel organised.DS starts school today so now that i have no babies at home it is a good day to start a new routine! I am aiming for a calm clutter free home by the october half term.
today i have
hoovered downstairs
washed my bedding
wiped over kitchen
am off to clean bathroom before i take ds to school at 12-30.
kickarse, i love your menu and shopping plan!

thereisalightanditnevergoesout · 13/09/2010 10:35

Welcome frazzled!

Yes, I'm surprised just how motivating a thread like this can be!

How did the school start go? I hope there were no tears.

I've just put one down for an nap, one's watching a DVD and I'd better see what I can achieve by the time I have to go and collect DD1. It'll be OK as long as I don't get side-tracked with MN....

MeMudmagnet · 13/09/2010 13:18

I tackled the bedroom this morning!
My god, I have a lot of crap in one small room!

I have a large, fitted wardrobe that's half full of clothes (most of which aren't worn) and half full of god knows what. That'll have to be another day's effort, I think.

I need more storage space!!!

thereisalightanditnevergoesout · 13/09/2010 18:56

Storage space would be lovely, wouldn't it? The only problem I think (for me, anyway) is that I could fill it with rubbish so I didn't have to deal with it and the advantage of having more storage would be wasted.

I have to change the way I think, I suppose.

MeMudmagnet · 13/09/2010 19:57

That's so true.
The only reason I deal with the rubbish stashed everywhere, is because it gets to the point I can't move and can't find anything!

I've got a few minimalist friends and sometimes quiz them on where they keep all they're 'stuff'. It would seem they don't have any!
I asked one such friend for an opinion on how to tackle my clutter. She went round saying, "That can go, you don't need this, you don't need that" Shock

.......But I might do, one day...Blush

KickArseQueen · 13/09/2010 22:51

Hi Frazzled Blush and thankyou! My friend tells me I do things backwards, most people write a list of all they need mine is all I should have! ( but at least I can't forget anything.) I keep meaning to do a week 4, with things like pie and pizza on because the kids never get them at the mo!

I've had a fairly productive day today!

I've put through 2 washloads put away 1, swept floors, swished bathroom, cleaned out and refilled sand table for ds1. been to playgroup done dishwasher, cooked tea, cleaned up decluttered one end of the kitchen and trapped another pile of clutter in a laundry basket ( less chance of it breeding that way!Wink)

Answered all bookbag letters, reading with dd1 and 2. table laid packed lunches ready.

I'm done in.

I'm going to bed! Night all see you tomorrow!!

frazzled74 · 13/09/2010 22:53

first day at school went well! no tears from me or ds.I am going to use my 3 hours tomorrow de cluttering either mine or dcs bedroom (depends how energetic im feeling).it always amazes me that some people dont have loads of books, dvds, photos to store, dont think i will ever be minimalist.

thereisalightanditnevergoesout · 13/09/2010 23:46

I know I'm constantly amazed by how few things like books people have for their kids - then I remember what they did with them... they gave them to me!!!!

Night everyone.

Drawers - six of them, sorted. Filled a black bin bag with clothes to give away.

I found that if I kept on top of the laundry monster - I had nowhere to put the clean stuff.

But now I do Grin!

KickArseQueen · 14/09/2010 21:36

LOL! I have the same problem!

I've had a really terrible day today. I haven't even emptied the dishwasher, there is clean washing on our bed and I didn't cook dinner. :(

On the upside I have sorted my electricity switching, rearranged the way our bank accounts work and done my "is everything as cheap as it can be check" ( must check phone and internet tarriffs and had the treat of F & C for tea.

I am seriously wondering if I'm coming down with something because I am exhausted. I've got 1 washload in and need to move it on, I will clean the sink, and go to bed. Fresh start in the morning....................................

Night All - I think we are on baby steps 11 and 12 too tired to link them, I'll put it on tomorrows todo list Wink

frazzled74 · 14/09/2010 22:04

bad day for me today, did 1 load of washing and everything that had to be done, but no decluttering or blitzing. I feel exhausted and a bit down, hopefully i will wake up tomorrow feeling a bit more energetic.

KickArseQueen · 14/09/2010 22:12

Hmm... I may need to hit the dr pepper Wink!

thereisalightanditnevergoesout · 15/09/2010 16:34

How is everyone today?

I have to say, I did nothing on my list today - been a bit of a funny one - DH didn't go in until lunchtime, so I dawdled. It'll be a busy evening though, as DH won't be home until 11ish so I really could've done with being a bit more organised. I have to do supper (I'm doing soup - sweetcorn chowder - and bread). Then it's bath- and bedtime.

Maybe I'll get some things done after the kids are in bed.

I think I'll probably only manage to:

Get sorted for tomorrow (lunches, clothes)
Sort out kitchen and shine sink
And I'll give the lounge a quick blitz so it's tidy for the evening.
And I'll order my Christmas cards

What do you have planned?

I think it's a bit like dieting - sometimes you have to give in and have a night off, or you can lose motivation altogether.

Enjoy your schanpps and chocolate. I think that's a brilliant idea - and one I will be adopting - well the chocolate anyway (no schapps - not in my condition, anyway!!)

KickArseQueen · 15/09/2010 22:21

Well, I'm back on track :)

2 washloads put away, 2 washloads washed and dryed, all kids beds changed, dishwasher done, reading done with both girls, House is 90% tidy.

Tomorrows goal...

do all the usual "keep on top stuff" (wshing and d/washer)
and then

Hoover upstairs and downstairs.

Go shopping

Daily play with the boys is playdoh tomorrow and outside if its dry :)

Knackered, Night :)
