But rather than a one a day baby step, we do a two a day one.

I need to get back on top of things, plus I will be on my own for the first time in over 5 years.

Oh you poor thing, KAQ. You do sound like my Mum symptom-wise. When you're tired, does your voice go husky? And are you husky/croaky first thing in the morning? Mum has lots of instances when she experiences adrenalin pain (if that makes sense?) she describes it as shooting pains through her arms and legs - almost as if the adrenalin is kicking in after a fright? I think she just wore herself out - and I think it sounds like you might have too.

She hasn't learnt to deal with it properly - I think I mentioned up-thread that if she would just pace herself, her quality of life would improve tremendously. I did try to get her to set a timer to do short tasks (but she doesn't listen to me!!).

Your DP sounds like an absolute star. What a treasure.

You rest as much as you can. Really , try to give in to it for now. Rest is the best thing - washing will always wait.

Thanks for the list - yes - I might borrow BIL's head torch and we have candles.

No - haven't got any arnica - but I might take a walk to the health food shop tomorrow - I should get some raspberry leaf tea and some clary sage too!

Things are niggling - I'm all over the place emotionally and feeling a bit restless and fidgety. BHs are stepping up a gear, too. Nothing ainful yet though.

DH has got a 2 hour driving lesson tomorrow - I'm a bit nervous about being on my own while he does it...

How are you doing MeMudmagnet? Enjoying the festivities and recharging her batteries for the new year, perhaps.

Will keep you posted if there are any developments.

KickArseQueen · 27/12/2010 23:00

deffo take that walk tomorrow thereis! It helped me loads last time( will they be open on a bank holiday tho?) Boots also sell Arnica 30c pillules if thats any help.

I promise to try to pace myself ( for a bit at least) :) Dp is lovely. :)

Don't get stressed about the driving lesson, just think, its a lesson, not a test! He can come home if you need him.:) Tell him to give his mobile to the driving instructor, then if you need him you can ring and the DI can answer the phone.

Actually, um, what time is his lesson, because dp says we could have a LOT of snow 1st thing tomorrow, he's a fisherman and they always know..

thereisalightanditnevergoesout · 28/12/2010 00:12

Oh - is it a bank holiday tomorrow too? I've lost track a bit. Even if it's not open - I might still have that walk - I agree that definitely helps! We also have a Boots attached to the surgery which might be open.

The lesson was supposed to be on Wednesday but instructor asked if he could do tomorrow at 2pm - I had heard that there's due to be snow so that might scupper the plans a bit.

Changing habits (like pacing yourself) is hard. Much easier said than done.

Well - I should've been in bed ages ago - but I'm strangely not tired.

Might go and read for a bit.

Night x

KickArseQueen · 28/12/2010 10:19

Hiya, yes we've got 2 bank holidays Monday and Tuesday, :) I've been ibbing dp about the marked lack of snow outside and he just says "its coming" oh well we'll see, last time he was wrong was about 5 yeas ago, he said showers, we had a massive storm. He did at least get the type of weather right tho Wink

Oh well we'll see.............

thereisalightanditnevergoesout · 28/12/2010 13:06

I'd seen the weather forecast and there was a huge blanket of snow the length of the country moving from West to East - so BBC got it wrong. Or it went a different way. Relatives in Scotland definitely have got the snow.

Thanks for the bank holiday info - I've lost all track of where we are and what day of the week it is. It's quite nice in some ways... Trip to get arnica will have to be tomorrow though.

KickArseQueen · 29/12/2010 01:07

I'll have to mock dp in the morning for getting the weather wrong, but sods law says I'll wake up to a blanket of white Wink

thereisalightanditnevergoesout · 29/12/2010 09:23

It never hurts to mock our other halves!!

No snow here so far... looks a bit foggy.

MeMudmagnet · 31/12/2010 00:02

Hello you two,
Glad to see you both survived Xmas!

Are you due to pop soon Thereis?
I had a homebirth planned for dd2, mainly because dd1 arrived so swiftly. The midwife that visited me at home had a brought a list of suggestions and things to have in place.
In the end, I had some bleeding at 37 weeks, so I had to get it checked out and went into labour while I was there.
I was chucked out again 4 hours after she was born though! Smile

How are feeling KAQ? Are you still managing to pace yourself?

All our snow is gone here Sad it's warmed up and gone all soggy underfoot...yuk...mud everywhere.

DH has had manflu over Xmas and I'm about ready to kill him. The more I ignore his attention seeking, the more he steps up the drama! Ahhhhh!!!!

thereisalightanditnevergoesout · 31/12/2010 18:30

Hello - and Happy New Year.

Glad you survived Christmas. Honestly, all that build up for a few days - it's crazy isn't it?

Today is my due date.

I thought it had started last night - I had very intense Braxton Hicks and something like period pains (not as bad as some period pains I've had though) for 3 hours - even after I had a bath. Went to bed and was woken at 3:47 by a monster contraction followed by another 2 (not as bad) an hour or so later and then... nothing.

Marvellous. I really thought he was on his way, my aunt would be able to deliver him, go home and go partying, but it's not turned out that way :(.

Oh dear - I don't think I would have any patience with my DH either, MedMudagnet, I don't make a very good nurse. Still, I do check on him when he's ill - which is more than I can say he's done for me on occasion Grin. Still, like they say revenge is a dish best served cold .

I hope you've recovered from your relapse KAQ.

Well - will keep you posted about any events.

I wish you both good health and much happiness in 2011.

Speak to you next year!!

x

KickArseQueen · 31/12/2010 21:03

Hi you two! I'm doing ok atm but I think I'll miss seeing the new year in tonight. Too tired. :)

When does your aunt go home thereis? Is there no chance now?? :(

Thanks for being there in 2010 both of you! Hope we all have A FANTASTIC New Year!!!!

I'm looking forward to decluttering and getting this house straight!

See you on the other side of midnight :)

thereisalightanditnevergoesout · 02/01/2011 14:11

Just to let you know, I'm snuggling in bed with a new baby boy. Born 10:55 am this morning at home - weighing 8lbs 2oz. No name as yet x

KickArseQueen · 02/01/2011 22:20

YAY!!!!!

thereisalightanditnevergoesout · 04/01/2011 22:53

School tomorrow - school run (boo!). Still house is VERY tidy as DH is off and he keeps doing the housework while I sit and nurse baby - marvellous. I've been in bed for 2 days, though did get up today to get a few things from waitrrose (DH doesn't drive yet) and felt a bit wobbly - so will do the school run tomorrow then come back home to bed for a bit.

How are you feeling KAQ? Better I hope.

How are you MeMudmagnet?

KickArseQueen · 04/01/2011 23:19

Wow! trip to waitrose? you are doing well!

I'm the same, still have low lying sore throat. Gets a bit better / worse.. meh! I'm ignoring it.

My house looks like a tip!

I have turned out some stuff over the holiday - 4 boxes!!! Big ones!!! Grin

and our bedroom is the tidyest I've ever seen it, but I still need to get the buggy out of the car for the walk to school tomorrow and reload the PE bags, find the water bottles, lay the table Blush probably shouldn't be on MN!!

Hope school run goes well - hope our alarms all go off!!!!

Memudmagnet, where aaaarrreee yoooooou???

thereisalightanditnevergoesout · 04/01/2011 23:48

Well - I wish I hadn't gone - felt a bit wobbly in there and have been a bit achey since. It's because I got up and felt almost human that I thought I could manage it.

Will do the run tomorrow and go back to bed I think!

Well - don't ignore your sore throat too much - if it hurts a lot, try to ease back a little, maybe? But I know it's not going to be possible to put everything on hold, I suppose there is an element of having to ignore it sometimes.

I'm very envious of your tidy bedroom... Still, once ours is decorated, I think it'll motivate me.

Oh yes - the night time routine and prep for tomorrow. I shouldn't be on MN either.

Night night.

KickArseQueen · 05/01/2011 00:01

Double buggy is up, bags are packed, PE kit is packed, book bags are full of school books! Just need to do water bottles, school lunch form, milk form and lay table!

YAY!!!

If my throat flares up badly I do pay attention and ease back, but otherwise, all systems go!

My bedroom hasn't been tidy since we moved here, its been used to store everything that didn't have a home. Its still not perfect, but it'll do! If I actually get it finished I'll post a pic!!!

Try to remember you have just done the equivilent of a marathon!!!! Take dp with you on the school run if you can, you drive, he can take them in!! Then go home and eat lots of toast/drink tea and REST!! :)

MeMudmagnet · 05/01/2011 18:57

Oh wow you've popped!
Congratulations xx

Did it all go ok?

My head's spinning with everything atm. I've decided to give myself a big kick up the bum work wise. I've just been floating about for the past couple of years earning here and there, more luck than judgement I think.
But I want to get going. The dd's are both at school so I've no excuses. Some people manage full time jobs, with kids AND an orderly house. I should be able to work part time from home without compromising one or the other!
I need set working hours and I need to stick to them. No faffing half the day and working half the night.

Sorry for the rant, but new year and all that.

That reminds me Happy New Year!!

Do you to have any plans for the year?

KickArseQueen · 06/01/2011 00:49

LOL! I probably have too many! I don't know if Im going to fit them in. Most of them are to complete smallish tasks that have been hanging around for a long time. I'm wondering whether I should try to complete 1 a week / month.

Got to go get set up for the morning.

Happy New year to you too Memud!

thereisalightanditnevergoesout · 08/01/2011 13:26

Now - I thought I knew what a laundry monster looked like.

That was until I had 4 DCs!!!

Oh my goodness.

He's very sweet though and just loves a cuddle. It went really well, MeMudmagnet - and I'm much less sore than I was (I can sit down without wincing now!!)

We think we're going to call him Angus.

The good thing is - I'm feeling energetic and motivated (not sure I've got the stamina quite yet, but getting there) - so I feel I'll be back to getting on top of the house/chores very soon. And you know what? I'm actually looking forward to it.

MeMudmagnet · 08/01/2011 13:33

I can't begin to imagine the laundry monster created by 4dc's!!!
I do a wash or 2 every day and I've only got 2!
Glad you're feeling good though. It's relief to be able to move about, bend over and breathe at the same time isn't it!

I'm not doing too bad over here. Although my hoover is broken!
I just need to sort a routine!

KickArseQueen · 08/01/2011 17:50

Thereis, Angus sounds good!

As of yesterday I had stunned the washing monster, but I haven't followed through and walloped it today - that is my mistake, because by tomorrow it will have reenergised!

If it helps at all:

I only have 3 types of washload, Lights, Darks and Whites, Whites are school shirts and odd bits and are only done on a friday night - I save them up all week! Iron the shirts on a saturday ready for the next week.

I always try to put in a washload as soon as the kids are in bed, that can then be hung before I go to bed. Shortest washing cycle and hardest spin to get the turn around time down.

If I put a light load in when the kids went to bed, then I put a dark load in as soon as I take the lights out and then switch it on before breakfast the next morning.

What I should do is put away each washload as soon as it is dry, I invariably don't, and that is my down fall :(

Memud! OH No! at your hoover, I'm a sad cow I think, I have 2 dysons - 1 upstairs, 1 downstairs 1 little hand held dustbuster thing and 1 bigger wet/dry hand held thing for when we are away in the caravan!

I really should try to use them more this year!

I blitzed the house on Thursday, and am back to being sore throat woman. Dp says I must be allergic to housework! If that means he's going to do it instead then I'm happy to accept that as my official diagnosis!!!! Grin

I need to sort out a routine too!

MeMudmagnet · 09/01/2011 13:05

Ah yes. It definitely sounds like a housework allergy Wink That can be nasty you know, even fatal. Avoid it at all costs! Grin

My dyson broke just after we'd dragged the Xmas tree out of the house! The tube split in half. So I had to get the worst up with a dustpan & brush, then dh and I picked out the stuck in needles by hand! It was BAD.

I agree the worst bit about getting the washing done is putting all away. It's just so BORING and repetitive.

All the after school stuff starts back next week, so must get my routine planned and put into action.
I'm good at the planning bit. It's actually making myself do it and stick to it that's the problem.
I think I need to spend at least 2-3 hours on work stuff while the dc's are at school. After walking the dog and time spent getting stuff done out and about, that should leave me about 1-2 hours during school time to get stuff done around the house.
I should be able to fit in another couple of hours of work in the evenings and obviously fit in a few small housework type jobs around the after school activities, homework and meal cooking.

In theory I should have quite a bit of time to get straight and organised! In reality I spend to much time faffing and getting distracted, ping ponging from one half finished task to another.

KickArseQueen · 09/01/2011 13:57

That sounds like a nightmare!! What do you mean by the tube? do you mean this bit?

I ping pong continuously! I actually set myself 2hrs of cleaning / tidying downstairs and then 2 hrs of cleaning upstairs I was child free for the whole 4 hours and at the end of the time everywhere was tidy enough! (not perfect but good enough, you know what I mean?) I think I'm going to try to set myself a specific amount of time for cleaning / tidying. Maybe that way I won't feel quite so much as though I'm constantly doing housework in a messyish house.

Anything is worth a go!

thereisalightanditnevergoesout · 12/01/2011 01:14

Still battling the laundry monster.

That's my job for tomorrow - putting the clean stuff away.

We also need to blitz the girls' room - sorting out all those bits of toys that can't be played with anymore or those toys that they've outgrown along with the books and another sort through their clothes.

So the plan is to do this before DH goes back to work.

Like FLY lady says, there's no point in trying to organise clutter - de-cluttering is the way forward.

How's your hoover MeMudmagnet? And your housework allergy, KAQ?!!

KickArseQueen · 14/01/2011 00:05

Argghh! I need to declutter and properly tidy the girls rooms too!

I did a big sort out of all the toys that had emigrated downstairs just before xmas and used all my washing baskets to sort the bits and pieces back to the right bedrooms. I really need to go through the bedrooms now to get them straight. My girls clothes need doing too!

Things are ticking over ok here at the mo. Its not immaculate, but its tidy enough downstairs that I would let pretty much anyone in for a coffee! Upstairs the floors are tidy - no bits to trip on in the dark at al, but all the tops of the chests of draws etc are cluttered with bits.

Must sort it!

Throat still sore. Its a low background thing, I really need it to go away now! I need to be fit and well for something thats coming up. A sore throat could really mess things up!

I'm going to go back and try to get the gp to reswab my throat - last time they swabbed me at the end of 2 weeks antibiotics which might have made a difference to the results.

Hows the babe thereis? everything going ok?

Are you making headway memud?
