Where do you put wet towels

Where does everyone keep wet towels.
changed the radiator in the bathroom so it’s no longer going to look like Dunelm with 4 massive bath sheets on it.
We don’t have an airing cupboard.

I don’t really want them dumped in bedrooms.
what’s the solution. A rail? A rack? Some hooks?

Hooks either on the back of a door (bathroom or bedroom) or on the bathroom wall.

I hope you don’t pick them up !

Haha, nope! They can use manky wet towels. I’ve got enough of my own shit to do

Wash after every use? 😲Do you live in a hotel!

Even when we stay in a hotel we don't request fresh towels every day!

How wet to your towels get? I hang mine neatly on the towel rail. They dry fine there

When we stay in self catering places, we find that hosts use very thick towelling and have put fabric conditioner on the towels, this makes them soaking wet and very difficult to dry. I think some people must do that.

@IloveJonBonJovi

i love the new window in the shower!

my Dad put one in, in our family bathroom, when I was young, I loved it! Some idiot put the bathroom internally here. First thing I did was put a decent size skylight in!

it's a lovely new radiator, but I'd still get an 'over the top rail' with hooks on it (specifically designed for those radiators) to put the towels on. As well as beautiful it needs to be practical. I'd love to keep mine empty too, but I appreciate having properly dry towels.

IloveJonBonJovi · 06/06/2026 08:39

@JuneAlready I had to go back and check then. It’s just a reflection from the actual window. Imagine having a window in the shower. The poor neighbours

Hooks either on the back of a door (bathroom or bedroom) or on the bathroom wall.

I really cant understand why anyone would want wet/ damp towels hanging on doors/ walls or over bannisters???

I fold mine so they all sit nicely and uniformly on the towel rail thanks Anthea Turner
They dry quickly and are lovely and warm ready for when you get out of the bath/ shower in the winter .

sugarandcyanide · 06/06/2026 10:57

Those hooks that go over the door. Our bath towels are massive and they always dry. We have a rail for hand towels.

Snackpocket · 06/06/2026 11:05

We’ve got an over the door towel rack which hangs on the spare room door.

BorisJohnsonsUnderpants · 06/06/2026 11:44

First of all, we don't use bath sheets we just have ordinary old-fashioned bath towels, which are a sensible, manageable size and perfectly adequate. So we don't have huge sheets of damp towelling to hang up.

We put our used damp towels onto the towel radiators in the bathrooms. The bathroom windows are always open throughout the year and the towels dry quickly even when the radiator is not on.

That's outrageous.

Is it? I thought it was normal. These comments are cracking me up.

I have specific (small) laundry basket for towels, they get used once and go in there until it’s full and then I wash them. We don’t have specific towels, beyond the cute hooded ones for DC, and I don’t fancy using a towel used by someone else or having damp towels around the place.

We have plenty of towels so it’s not like I’m doing unnecessary loads with just a couple in it.

New thing of beauty. No wet towel shall be looking in its direction.

Oh dear! To me that looks very unsuitable for a bathroom. A bathroom radiator needs to have horizontal bars so that towels can be placed on it.

BorisJohnsonsUnderpants · 06/06/2026 11:57

This is the sort of thing you need.

It’s very pretty and I get that you are actively planning to have no towels on it on purpose, but it’s very impractical because bathroom heated radiators / towel rails is where towels go to dry quickly. If you aren’t using that, you need plenty of spaced out hooks either in the bathroom or on the backs of everyone’s bedroom door. Or space on the radiators in everyone’s bedroom.

EmmaB1309 · 06/06/2026 12:16

We have a towel rail in our bathroom that is heated in winter when the heating is on, but we use it year round. Our towels get two uses for showers usually. It can fit two towels.

It's not so wasteful if you don't wash them every time, but I wouldn't want wet towels hanging about in a laundry basket until I'd made up a full wash.
Much nicer to let them air out a bit, I think.

TwelvePiecesOfFlair · 06/06/2026 12:25

Old school towel racks! Everyone has one in their bedroom. They are not huge and not heated but you can spread a damp bath towel over them and it’s dry the next day.
I don’t even know if they still exist- inherited them from my mum.
Hand towels stay on the heated towel rail in the bathroom.

Ohdearnotthisagain · 06/06/2026 13:26

Heated towel racks in both bathrooms in cooler months.

In the laundry basket, we use them once, then wash them.

But then the damp towel is in the laundry basket. Doesn’t this smell? If I wash towels after using them I have to put them straight in the washer or wait until they are dry to put them in the laundry basket. Otherwise I worry it would smell damp?

FeliciaFancybottom · 05/06/2026 13:19

In the laundry basket, we use them once, then wash them.

It's actually unhealthier to do this but there we go.

You can get bars to go across them but I’m not having any of it. I’m just being an awkward fussy git

Grrrrrr- hope a big spider takes up residence under them. Slovenly!

Thingcanonlygetbetter · 06/06/2026 17:24

I bought a treadmill just to hang towels on. It should be called a towel mill as that’s the only thing that goes on it 😆
