Where do you put wet towels

Where does everyone keep wet towels.
changed the radiator in the bathroom so it’s no longer going to look like Dunelm with 4 massive bath sheets on it.
We don’t have an airing cupboard.

I don’t really want them dumped in bedrooms.
what’s the solution. A rail? A rack? Some hooks?

In the laundry basket, we use them once, then wash them.

Oh my goodness! What a waste!!

Cappuccino5 · 06/06/2026 17:26

Straight in the wash. We don’t reuse them as having them hanging damp for hours just encourages bacteria growth

Not if you care about body odour. No point in getting freshly washed and then using an old towel.

DD has back acne and the most important thing for her has been never reusing old flannels/towels

Aren't you clean when you get out of the bath or shower?

DustyMaiden · 06/06/2026 17:31

On the heated towel rail. Which sadly works all year around.

Not 100%. We all have naturally occurring bacteria which like to collect and grow on damp material.

FeliciaFancybottom · 06/06/2026 17:35

The virtue signalling over a bath towel is hilarious.

I bought a treadmill just to hang towels on. It should be called a towel mill as that’s the only thing that goes on it 😆

Oh yes I used to have an exercise bike that was for the same purpose!!

They need drying, not washing.

Most skin bacteria are beneficial. It doesn't actually help to remove them.

Guidance is to wash towels every 3-4 days. In 50 years I've never done them that often and never had a skin infection between my OH and I. My towels get washed if I can smell them.

Which is great for you but as an eczema/acne prone family, washing towels after each use is what works best for us 👍

Well my comment that you responded to wasn't addressed to you was it? I knew about your reasons, I was talking to someone else. It didn't occur to me to check your user name , because you had already explained, I thought I was in conversation with someone else.

I hate to break it to you but you’re posting on a public chat forum!

Grrrrrr- hope a big spider takes up residence under them. Slovenly!

I don't mind spiders in the least. I pick them up and put them safely outside, otherwise my cats eat them.

SuitcaseAndSecrets · 06/06/2026 18:31

In the washing machine/laundry basket... I only use mine once then wash them..

Maddy70 · 06/06/2026 18:48

Wet ones hang on a hook in. The bathroom

minipie · 06/06/2026 18:53

DH & me - on our towel rail, it has much bigger gaps than a ladder one so there’s space.

DDs - over the banister. In theory.

I think hooks would be better though.

🤣🤣🤣 I too had a treadmill that was great for draping wet laundry on!

IwanttoWFH · 06/06/2026 19:26

In the summer, on hooks on the back of the bathroom door. In the winter, over the radiator in the spare bedroom. We do have a heated towel rail but not enough space to dry the bath mat, the microfibre cloth I have to use to dry the gold hardware so it doesn’t go mouldy (won’t be buying this again) and towels!

Why on earth do you wash them after every use? You do know you’re drying a clean freshly washed body? you must have time on your hands

And not helping the planet either ...

Hook on back of ensuite door.

Fighting talk!

Why fighting talk. You don’t want to dry yourself with a dirty towel.

Plenty of people don’t consider a dried towel that’s been used by yourself to dry your clean body a few times to be “dirty”.

This, who uses a towel more than once?

I wash the towels once a week. We each have a hand towel, body towel and hair/face towel.
