Why didn#t I think of putting massive golden gates on my 3 bed semi?

I'm enjoying those too. The spiky gate thing is quite popular round my way. The gold really sets them off and adds an extra touch of class.

Violinist64 · 28/10/2025 19:19

It's very.... instant migraine in every room. All that bling. Where is there any space to sit down? Or sleep? It is immaculate, though. I would say that the style is influenced by Laurence Llewlyn Bowen. I think my favourite is the disco ball. That's really something else.

Nichebitch · 28/10/2025 19:20

It’s giving swingers party place

Whatshesaid96 · 28/10/2025 19:21

Normally when you first move in you take in your rubber gloves and your vacuum. I think with this house I'd leave those and take the wallpaper steamer 😂. I imagine it's immaculately clean throughout.

I wanted to call this maximalism but it’s not, even maximalist design has structure and cohesion (and accessible hallways!)

It’s just hoarding.

These images are a good visual of what it’s like when someone styles their house in a period that doesn’t suit the property itself.

I wonder what style you think would suit this kind of property? I think it would be a shame if everybody was restricted by what sort of house they live in..I didn't have loads of choice about what kind of house I could afford. I'm aiming for a cottage garden for my new build townhouse!

I think for me it’s the juxtaposition of the shiny white counter doors and everything surrounding it in the kitchen for example. Like if you’re going to do a theme, fully commit. It’s jarring to see the conflicting styles.

Stravaig · 28/10/2025 19:32

It's very much not my taste, but I love seeing the creativity and individual personality shining through. Someone has put a lot of love and hard work into this. (Albeit possibly alienating the attic-dweller.)

I don't drink or do girly girl anything, but I quite fancy a cocktail and natter at the drinks bar. Possibly some tipsy nail painting too. It wouldn't be dull!

From a buyer's perspective it is immaculately clean and well cared for. The only concern might be the cost of redoing the tiling and wallpaper if you don't like what's there already.

MotherofPearl · 28/10/2025 19:39

I feel claustrophobia verging on mounting panic just looking at the photos.

Not my style, but most of it is furnishings that would be removed on sale, the house underneath it all looks clean and well presented.

Agree! My house has probably just as much stuff (very different style) but it is a bit bigger and nowhere near as tidy and clean! Maybe they were living in a slightly bigger establishment prior to this and are struggling to adapt. My only bugbear is the empty jardinier plant stand in the window, always a pitiful sight.

PennyRest · 28/10/2025 19:48

If I went to view that house I’d feel
confident it had been really well looked after. That’s some serious housekeeping there, it looks spotless.

EveryMeandEveryYou · 28/10/2025 19:51

Almost missed the pet White tiger in the kitchen...

RyanFudgingMurphy · 28/10/2025 19:52

The old phrase, Champagne Lifestyle on a Lemonade Budget comes to mind.

I would pay for three large skips to clear it out.

Bananaandmangosmoothie · 28/10/2025 19:56

I’ve visited a similar house to this before. I would guess it belongs to a family from the traveller community.

Pbjsand · 28/10/2025 19:58

Disco ball in the kitchen, now there’s an idea 😂

AutumnLover1989 · 28/10/2025 20:01

Looks like a member of the traveller community house, with the Chanel/Versace,silver etc. Not to my taste at all but then it's not my house 🤷‍♂️

Hotflushesandchilblains · 28/10/2025 20:03

Its spotless and obviously well loved. How refreshing to see people who dont just paint everything magnolia or grey.

JudgeJ · 28/10/2025 20:06

DontbesorrybeGiles · 28/10/2025 19:05

I respect the estate agent for not trying to make out that it’s a nice looking house c

Where's Roy Brooks when you need him to write the spec? He was an estate agent in London in the 60s and 70s, his descriptions of property in the Sunday papers were hilarious, sadly missed.

StrawberryJangle · 28/10/2025 20:08

Why have all that faff and all those photos, and leave the toilet seat up?

I'm on homeswapper and see it time and time again... Here is my spotless house... Here is the bathroom... Bog seat up.

Are they trying to show that it's clean? Is that what I'm missing?

Cherrysoup · 28/10/2025 20:15

And now I’m getting a mumsnet advert for a neon plum blossom…I don’t know what it is…light? Ornament?

NautilusLionfish · 28/10/2025 20:18

Justastupidgirl · 28/10/2025 14:55

Under 200k though!

indeed. I never new there are houses in England below a mil!

NautilusLionfish · 28/10/2025 20:19

Can we talk about the fact that there is a glitterball and a stuffed tiger in the kitchen? WTAF is a glitterball and tiger doing in a kitchen?!

And the bed. Where do they sleep?

mindutopia · 28/10/2025 20:23

I bet their neighbours are grateful to be seeing the back of them.

Tigerbalmshark · 28/10/2025 20:29

pigsDOfly · 28/10/2025 15:17

Missed the tiger on the first look. Had to go back for a second look.

I can't imagine they do much cooking in that kitchen. I'd keep tripping over the bloody thing.

My immediate thought was: where the hell did they find all that stuff? Is there a shop somewhere dedicated to people with a particular sort of 'taste' in furniture?

Yep there are a couple of shops like that near me (I’m in Brixton, one in Camberwell). Lots of mirroring and silver and gold. Somebody must be buying it.

TheFifthTellytubby · 28/10/2025 20:34

Seems odd that there's still no floorplan after it's been listed for two months. Maybe there was just too much stuff to be able to measure the rooms properly?
