This is absolutely not to my taste. But to be honest if it is your house , decorate it as you will. Assuming they will be taking all the frills and furbelows with them , then I am sure people will see the bones of the house. I would be checking out the cost of removing or painting as a cheaper measure those gates though, retiling the bathroom & the bar stools blocking the hallway is a bit bonkers - unless guests all come in through the back door.
