Will try to add old threads, maybe good for us to give an update of where our DCs are at

@Lurea Congratulations to your daughter.
Wonderful news!

Miloarmadillo2 · 13/02/2025 11:04

Congrats @Lurea ! My son got a UEA offer this week too. Still waiting for Sheffield which is his preferred uni but so much more relaxed now there is an offer on the table.

Congratulations to your DS. Yes, I can imagine an offer just makes all the difference.
Wishing us all the best as we wait

Lurea · 13/02/2025 15:19

Congratulations @Miloarmadillo2
I agree that receiving an offer relieves the anxiety.

cosygingerkitten · 13/02/2025 21:30

Thank you lots to everyone on this forum especially @mumsneedwine . I'm really so sorry for the current mess that is jobs post Fy2. I have signed the petition and thank you for raising awareness.
My DD just heard yesterday that she has an offer from Dundee and she is over the moon. As others said it really takes the pressure off. She is also waiting on Glasgow and Sheffield but is so happy to have an offer from a place she is really enthusiastic about. She is rUK so didn't know if it was a gamble. Good luck to everyone else with the hard waiting

mumsneedwine · 13/02/2025 21:44

@cosygingerkitten 🥰🥰 so lovely to hear of offers finally trickling through.

We are fighting for our F2s so yours will be ok, so thank you for the support. Do love the poster who thought I'd given up - nope, I was at work 😂

Lovely to check in and see some offers. Many congratulations to @cosygingerkitten and @Miloarmadillo2 's DC.

Nousernamefree · 14/02/2025 18:17

Thanks all for the reassurance last week - DS received an offer today for Birmingham.
Many congratulations everyone on the other offers coming in.

I'm so happy for your son, many congratulations! I think you said earlier in your thread that he was the only one applying to medicine from his school and didn't know anyone who had applied or was a doctor? If so it is an extra achievement so he must be extra good and he is trail blazing for others. Birmingham is a fantastic medical school.
Fingers crossed for offers for those waiting patiently or not so patiently and sending strength to students ploughing on to get those A level grades

Justlikingit · 15/02/2025 12:29

@Nousernamefree congratulations to your DS. Thanks everyone for the well wishes and encouraging messages
Hope we all get some relaxation this weekend

JuMcGoo · 16/02/2025 10:40

So lovely seeing all the offers DCs are getting. If you e not received one yet- hang on in there! It seems like a very long process!

For people with DCs going to offer holder days, are you going with them? Leicester has parent sessions but my daughter is adamant she wants to go on her own to experience what it will be like. There I was thinking I was a cool mum 😂

ItsYourMoneyRalf · 16/02/2025 11:12

Yes, either me or DH will go. DS has additional needs so that's a factor for us.

WeCantGoOverIt · 16/02/2025 11:40

I don’t think it has even occurred to DC to have me along to an offer holders day! I haven’t been to open days or interviews days either. But DC is quite confident and independent and when weighing things up, I am probably considered more of an embarrassment than help 😂

My DD is also really confident and independent but I do think it’s a big decision which is why I wanted to go. At least I would save money on train tickets by not going! 🤷‍♀️

For us there are very definite differences between DC options which I don’t need to go to an open day to hear. The preferred options (one of which we are still waiting to hear from post-interview) differ significantly in course structure. So I would only be emotional support/unhelpful baggage at an offers day. But I can see with a different selection of choices it might be more of an even balance and useful to have someone to help you weigh it up

WeCantGoOverIt · 16/02/2025 12:27

That’s not to say I wouldn’t be really interested to hear the talks and see the campus/buildings.

We are also waiting on an offer so she may not even need me to help with the decision if she doesn’t get an offer for her top choice. Thanks for your advice, it’s very helpful.

WeCantGoOverIt · 16/02/2025 13:07

Yes, we are waiting on top choice too. The third choice is pretty much ruled out by being higher offer than the second choice.

Thefatbutteredpig · 16/02/2025 13:51

I went to the UEA offer holders day with DD. It was really well planned, dd went off with the other offer holders and the parents went to parents talks, campus tours, accommodation tours etc. I met DD at the end of the day.

Ib1234567 · 16/02/2025 14:07

@JuMcGoo Can I ask when is the offer day for leicester.
