Offers for 2025

I noticed that in 2024 there was an offers thread where people shared when their children. had submitted to ucas and what offers they had received. Anyone interested? We have offers for Manchester, Bristol and Leeds all within ten days of submitting ucas but still waiting on Edinburgh. We do know others who submitted at the same time who have had Edinburgh offers already.

Feeling quite left out of all the Edinburgh joy Wink. I do wish they'd hurry up. I think DC1 is at a point where she'd actually rather a rejection than being left hanging, so she can sort out what she wants to do and start thinking about accommodation.

Dery · 01/04/2025 08:49

@TheTurn0fTheScrew - same here. Still nothing from St Andrews and Edinburgh. I’m proceeding on the basis they will be a ‘no’ when DD hears. Her favourite is Durham so she’ll just proceed with that but fingers crossed for you and your DC if they’re very keen on Edinburgh. Our eldest is studying humanities + a language at Edinburgh and loving it.

Coldilocks · 01/04/2025 08:59

Still nothing from Imperial even though they said they’d send out notifications by the end of March. Nice to know that DS is right at the bottom of their heap. Just say No already.

manpan1 · 01/04/2025 12:09

@TheTurn0fTheScrew I wouldn't worry about slow responses from Edi. Some subjects are still processing applications. Our DD got an offer yesterday and she has an elite sport flag, those offers often go out a bit earlier, so there will be lots more offers on the way. She is still waiting to hear on another subject, which offers haven't been sent for yet.

My YP has offers from St Andrews & Warwick for economics but is still waiting for lse & ucl. Such a long wait… 🤯 they applied in October!

MintTiger · 01/04/2025 20:12

I am not sure who is getting more worked up with this progress myself or my DS, probably me. He is still waiting for offers for computer science RUK non-contextual from Durham, Edinburgh and St Andrews. Has anyone heard from these universities for CS and similar status? Offers days are all coming soon and frustrated as can’t arrange train tickets and accommodation. Any information gratefully received

Yetanothercrazycatlady · 02/04/2025 13:18

I know of someone who got a rejection for CS from Durham. I was very surprised.

Dery · 02/04/2025 14:22

It’s interesting to hear that some others are still awaiting responses. Fingers crossed for everyone. Elder DD got offers through much more quickly when she was going through this process but had applied for MFL (like me, eons ago), so less competitive.

Coldilocks · 02/04/2025 23:05

Well, DS has just got his rejection from Imperial. He doesn’t seem too despondent as he really likes Bath. Now to check out the accommodation…

LighthouseCat · 03/04/2025 08:38

Still waiting for Warwick Maths…
Pretty certain it will be a rejection now so just wish it would come through so DD can move on.

Dery · 03/04/2025 12:56

I’m also pretty sure it will be rejections for DD but she wants to hear from them before confirming choices. Durham is favourite in any case so if she doesn’t hear very shortly, hopefully I can persuade her just to get that acceptance in. Good luck for anyone still waiting and hoping for an offer.

DC1 will be holding out 'til the bitter end! She does have an offer from her first choice, but it's very aspirational, so she wants to have an insurance that she's happy with as there's a good chance she'll end up there. She really, really liked Edinburgh and definitely wants it as her insurance if they do make an offer.

BennyBee · 03/04/2025 20:34

Just to say to those still holding out - my DS got his offer from Durham two years ago very, very late. I think it was about a week before the deadline. He had been holding out for it and has been there for two years and is very happy. So, just because its late does not mean it will be a rejection.

Dery · 04/04/2025 18:46

@TheTurn0fTheScrew - good luck to your DC!

@BennyBee - thank you for the encouraging words!

Dery · 06/04/2025 10:28

@TheTurn0fTheScrew - no update here but just to say - so far: DD also planning to wait until she’s heard back from everywhere. Fingers crossed for both our DCs!

QuirkInTheMatrix · 06/04/2025 10:31

Rejected by Cambridge, UCL.
Unconditional Offer for Manchester (has grades in hand).
not heard from Edinburgh or Loughborough but is going to accept Manchester

Dery · 06/04/2025 10:33

@QuirkInTheMatrix - congratulations to your DC. Manchester’s fab. Not on DD’s list because they don’t offer her course but I know of various youngsters there (friends of DCs/children of friends) and they love it.

Thanks, it’s actually ranked above Cambridge for the subject so everything happens for a reason 😁

DD still waiting for St Andrews or Edinburgh… we’re off to offer holders day at Queens, Belfast this weekend… then hopefully she’ll choose her first choice from there or Nottingham ( both have made her the same offer)… she was hoping for an unconditional from Edinburgh ( we’re in Scotland so she has highers in hand) to put as insurance…hopefully we hear soon… she also has unconditional from Stirling but doesn’t want to go there now! Waiting is annoying…

motheronthedancefloor · 06/04/2025 14:29

Scottish parent here. DD is waiting to hear from
Strathclyde and Stirling. What did your DD apply to @TalkedTooMuchStayedTooLong

TalkedTooMuchStayedTooLong · 06/04/2025 14:56

@motheronthedancefloorEnglish Literature & French

Ineedcoffeenow · 06/04/2025 16:40

Another Scottish parent. DD accepted a conditional offer for film at Edinburgh Napier. She just needs a B in any one of the three subjects she’s doing. Fingers crossed she’ll manage it. She only applied for two places and was rejected for the Royal Conservatoire so it’s Napier or nothing.

TalkedTooMuchStayedTooLong · 07/04/2025 10:03

Unconditional from Edinburgh in this morning! She’ll likely use it as her insurance and firm either Nottingham or Queens (who made the same conditional offers) depending on how this weekend’s offer holder’s day in Belfast goes… and withdraw from St Andrews if not heard by then.

NCTDN · 07/04/2025 11:41

Unconditional from Edinburgh sounds amazing!

TalkedTooMuchStayedTooLong · 07/04/2025 12:02

@NCTDN one of the great advantages for Scottish students applying to Scottish universities( aside from the fees!) is that likelihood of unconditional offers based on Highers taken in the penultimate year in school. Even some English universities will offer unconditional: my eldest received two such offers when they were applying.

Apologies if you are also in Scotland and I’m just telling you what you already know!
