Offers for 2025

ontheturn · 04/11/2024 16:15

I noticed that in 2024 there was an offers thread where people shared when their children. had submitted to ucas and what offers they had received. Anyone interested? We have offers for Manchester, Bristol and Leeds all within ten days of submitting ucas but still waiting on Edinburgh. We do know others who submitted at the same time who have had Edinburgh offers already.

Yesterday afternoon, so very recently. Hope your DS gets an offer soon @Perzival.

Ph3 · 08/02/2025 15:30

Congratulations to you all. ☺️☺️ must be such a relief to have offers. DC are still too young but we have started preparing as the eldest as set his sight very high 🤦🏽‍♀️. Dreading it all.

Changes17 · 08/02/2025 15:34

Thanks @Ph3. I think the biggest thing for DS was getting the predicted grades - it all seems to go from there. Now for the small matter of getting the actual results 😉

Thank you, me too. Fingers crossed.

Congrats to all the DC with new offers!

DD still waiting to hear about the second Durham course (which now is the one she thinks she REALLY wants). She's booking her other offer holder days in the meantime. For a girl who really had no idea what she wanted to do when she was looking around last May/June, she's really zeroed in on courses and key questions now.

It's great to see, but it does mean she really wants to go to all her offer days so she can ask all the questions she didn't know she had on the Open Days. So she's now worried if Durham doesn't offer on course 2 til very late, she may miss all their offer days.

tourdefrance · 08/02/2025 21:44

We now have 4 offers, got 4th from Birmingham recently.
Offer holder days mostly booked, I will go to 2 to make sure he gets there but planning for him to go alone for the most local uni.
Just waiting on Cardiff now.

I think Warwick will give offers on TMUA results day, so patiently waiting. Ds had an early offer from Durham for maths, and has not even looked at colleges. All I know is he wants self catered and not to have to share. I'm going to try and press him to do it this weekend, but he'll probably just roll his eyes and ignore me

Sorry jumping into thread halfway but is this for maths? I heard they won't send offers until March/April.

Woollyguru · 09/02/2025 10:59

LighthouseCat · 03/02/2025 19:10

@crouchendtigerr I think that's a distinct possibility too. Not too long to wait if so. I know some with really high TMUA scores have got offers but DD's was not really high (it wasn't really low either).

My DD got 5.9 in TMUA and it's very hard to judge whether this might result in a STEP condition (assuming an offer is made). What do you think?

She's preparing anyway just in case.

crouchendtigerr · 09/02/2025 11:54

@Woollyguru I think she'll probably be ok, that's a very good score, well done to your dd! All I know is that last year the requirement was 6.5, but this year hasn't been decided. Other universities are giving offers to anyone who gets a 5. If Warwick don't lower from 6.5, they'll have some empty seats

@Woollyguru Read to the bottom of the page of this link. Warwick aren't committing but alluding to a 5 being the cut off point this year for maths.

DC has an offer for Discrete Maths with 6.2, but this is run by Computer science department and not maths.

Good link to your daughter 😊

DS has an offer for Warwick in History finally AAA

LighthouseCat · 09/02/2025 14:38

@Woollyguru that's a very solid TMUA score. I would be surprised if she doesn't get a Warwick Maths offer. They have said offers will be made by April/May for Maths. But I think they will actually come much sooner. DD's TMUA was not as good as your DC's so I suspect she'll get an offer that's conditional on Step (which she says she won't do 😬). We'll see!

Thanks! She's actually very disappointed as on practice papers and the old style test format she was getting 7-8. But the new test threw her a bit and she didn't do as well as she hoped.

Thanks! 6.2 is very good, well done to your DC. Especially in the new test conditions with the erasable notepad.

Yes they do seem to allude to a threshold of 5. It's not ideal though to not find out until May potentially if a STEP condition is part of the offer. DC can prepare anyway just in case but it takes time away from A levels.

Thanks! It's a decent score but she was doing much better on the practice papers.

Fingers crossed for us all!

LighthouseCat · 09/02/2025 15:55

@Woollyguru - a 6.2 would equate to a very high 7 in past papers. This year a lot changed including the score scaling. 6.2 is honestly great. Are you waiting on anywhere else? We're still waiting on Bath

Coldilocks · 09/02/2025 17:48

DS scored a 5.5. His friend scored a 7 and another scored 5. All of them were interviewed by Cambridge so a 5.9 is a very good score indeed @Woollyguru

DC got 5.9, I think PP DC got 6.2. Yes we're waiting on UCL and another Warwick course maths&stats.

Yes there were grading changes but some unis still seem to require scores from the old grading system which is a lot more demanding this year. Some unis like Durham have specifically stated they'll accept a 5 which is equivalent to the old 6.5.

Congratulations on Cambridge interviews! Did they result in offers? I know they would still have to do STEP which seems to be a bigger hurdle than A levels tbh.

Erm… no. Not even the one who scored 7! Never mind. Other unis are available and they’ll have a great time wherever they go.

Vettrianofan · 09/02/2025 20:28

Waiting on an offer from Edinburgh Napier. Anyone else? Arts related degree. Seems to be taking ages.

Yes Cambridge is a bit of a lottery. They will absolutely have a great time wherever they go and the uni is not the sole determinant of future success.

MillicentFaucet · 10/02/2025 19:23

DS has just received his final offer.
Durham MEng AAB, really surprised as he thought it'd be a no so he'd sort of settled on Newcastle or an apprenticeship.
Lots to think about now...

crouchendtigerr · 11/02/2025 01:47

Ds has his maths offer from Warwick today, still not received his TMUA score, but I suppose universities already have it. That is all his offers in, he wants to firm Warwick, and insurance will possibly be Bath. Now he just has to get the grades!

LighthouseCat · 11/02/2025 07:13

@crouchendtigerr big congratulations to your DS! That's brilliant news. Still waiting here.
