Offers for 2025

ontheturn · 04/11/2024 16:15

I noticed that in 2024 there was an offers thread where people shared when their children. had submitted to ucas and what offers they had received. Anyone interested? We have offers for Manchester, Bristol and Leeds all within ten days of submitting ucas but still waiting on Edinburgh. We do know others who submitted at the same time who have had Edinburgh offers already.

@motheronthedancefloor They have changed the timetable for 2026, as I said, and told the universities (and schools and colleges) why. The current cycle proceeds as normal, but as I said some of the universities which were previously later deciders have taken it as an opportunity to push on for 31 March this year so that they have their systems ready for next year.

…and, perhaps, because they have taken on board the feedback that decisions communicated as late as April and May are not conducive to a good applicant experience.

In deed - because the fact is many people waiting for offers know friends and peers from the October deadline cohort who DO hold offers already… and have been able to begin applying for accommodation and DSA etc.

If they don’t receive offers until April/May they will have fewer options in accommodation and risk not having DSA accommodations in place in September, which is unfair (and probably discriminatory).

Has anyone's DC had an offer from KCL and, if so, have they been invited to an offer holder's day yet? DC has not yet had any offer holder's day info and the website seems to suggest that, unlike at other unis, they are for those who have accepted their offer, rather than to help them choose which uni to accept, but I may be wrong!

www.kcl.ac.uk/study/undergraduate/how-to-apply/important-information-after-receiving-your-decision

From your link (our DC are all through first degrees, but I'm the Elephant's Child, I'm afraid), it does give the impression that those days are only for applicants who have already made KCL their Firm or Indurance choice. There is an online 'next steps' event on the 30th though, which may illuminate? (Go to Can I visit King's after I receive an offer?, click on ...offer holder events and scroll further down the page).

Thanks. We'd seen this but unhelpfully it's in the middle of a school day at midday. I'll try to persuade DC to contact them for more clarification on the offer holder's day.

Unconditional offer in from Edinburgh this morning for geography. We are in Scotland so she already has results from S5

nutsandraisinsrock · 28/01/2025 12:34

So much is subject dependent- DD has Edinburgh and Durham offers before Xmas. We were amazed as had expected it to take a lot longer. It would help if they were consistent across departments I think.

CautiousLurker01 · 28/01/2025 13:56

Offer from UCL in this morning (Classics). Just KCL outstanding. Very happy DD here today!

StreetsofLaredo · 28/01/2025 18:40

Durham offer here Smile BBB for Psychology. DD holding out for 3 Scottish unis though but still over the moon for Durham!

Coldilocks · 28/01/2025 21:42

DS mumbled tonight that he had received an offer from Bath last week and he forgot to tell us.

It’s a very complicated offer with many different permutations. Is this usual?

tourdefrance · 28/01/2025 21:49

We have 3 offers now, York and 2 x Sheffield. One of the Sheffield's is offering a lower grade if he firms it. Still waiting for Birmingham and Cardiff.

LighthouseCat · 28/01/2025 22:24

@Coldilocks is it for maths? We're still waiting on Bath but her Warwick offer came with three possible permutations

Interesting about Sheffield. Is the one of the confirm a different course with lower offers than the other one?

No, Computer Science, but still with a maths base. Does your DD take Further Maths? This might explain it as DS has 2 x A star BB as well as 2 x A*AA. There’s also another alternative.

NCTDN · 28/01/2025 22:42

Yes, the standard offer for both is AAB (one A must be in one of two subjects), but one has said they'll accept ABB if he firms them.

LighthouseCat · 29/01/2025 07:12

@Coldilocks yes, DD does FM and yes, has similar type offer from Warwick, though slightly higher. 2Astar and A needed if both Astars are in M and FM. If she misses an Astar in either of those, then she needs 3Astars and an A. Third alternate involves the entrance test results (which is no use as DD won't do STEP, which is fair enough). I wish she loved a slightly less competitive subject. Really hoping we hear from Bath soon.

Coldilocks · 29/01/2025 11:20

@LighthouseCat Bath must reply soon. DS and his friend got their offers last week (CS and Physics) so the Maths offers must be soon. The STEP might have made a difference - the boys did TMUA and PAT respectively which may have helped them. I don’t know, I’m guessing, really. My DD received her UCL (History) offer in April so everyone’s nerves were shredded by then. I was convinced UCL were going to reject her so her offer came out of the blue.

LighthouseCat · 29/01/2025 19:04

Thank you @Coldilocks 🤞

OhFeckFatherJack · 29/01/2025 21:10

Still waiting on Warwick. Are they always one of the last offers?

FS had his offer from Warwick last week.

LighthouseCat · 30/01/2025 09:27

@OhFeckFatherJack completely depends on the subject/course applied for). They used to be v quick to offer for maths but changed it this year. Website (under the entrance test page) for maths at Warwick says decisions will be made in April and May, though a few offers have been made already. DD still waiting on Warwick maths (has got an offer for Warwick maths and stats).

crouchendtigerr · 30/01/2025 11:42

My Ds is also waiting for Warwick maths, as far as I know many students have been waiting since October

DD has Law offers
hold Bristol

off Birmingham
not heard Durham
not Heard Warwick

she is our first to go to uni so it’s all very new to us and we are clueless on what’s going on 😂😂

Mumof3girlsandaboy · 01/02/2025 16:30

All new to us too.
DS has had physics offers from Warwick, Lancaster and Newcastle. Waiting for Durham. Has anyone heard for physics for Durham?
