University offers coming in?

1000 replies

WombatChocolate · 27/09/2023 09:54

Just for nosiness and due to excitement about DS’s application going in, wondered if we could have a thread with people sharing offers as they are received, during this early phase.

Has anyone had an offer yet? Who will be first?

And totally realise that most won’t have applied yet and won’t do so for months and that’s absolutely fine and more normal.

Congratulations for all the offers. It seems most universities have offered, are any still not offering yet?? Haven't seen Bath yet but might have missed them. Ds's friend wants to go there

There is a thread of Reddit where users have logged there offers on a google doc form . Let me find it ...

sambamyty · 11/11/2023 16:42

*their offers!

Pleasealexa · 11/11/2023 17:25

@sambamyty, thank you, Bath doesn't appear to have offered yet.

Mirrormeback · 11/11/2023 17:38

DS has his first and only offer so far from Warwick

Mirrormeback · 11/11/2023 17:40

His offer is A star A

He already has an A star

Bleepbloopbluurp · 11/11/2023 17:46

That's great. Did they send it out today? Just wondering how / when these things are done...

Mirrormeback · 11/11/2023 18:37

A few days ago

Bleepbloopbluurp · 11/11/2023 19:15

Ah, makes sense. Well done to him, certainly takes the pressure off.

TheOnlyMrsW · 12/11/2023 07:50

That spreadsheet is really interesting (to me anyway 🤣), no geology offers, or earth/environmental science and only one geography.........which are the ones DD has considered. I wonder if it's because there's not many applicants or just that no offers have come out yet? DD has applied for geology in the end, plus earth sciences at Manchester which is very similar in course structure but I was surprised by how few places offer geology now

Ritasueandbobtoo9 · 12/11/2023 08:58

Thanks for linking to the spreadsheet. It is is really useful to see everything laid out in that way.

No problem . I've found it very interesting too!

@Pleasealexa DS hasn't heard from Bath yet (engineering) and as far as he knows his friends haven't either. He does have offers from Nottingham and Loughborough, and a hold from Bristol which is apparently good.... His fifth is Cambridge so nothing there yet.

Elmer23 · 12/11/2023 15:43

I have one DC also waiting for Bath (they’ve only been offered Bristol and Exeter so far). Others are Oxford and Imperial so will take more time. That’s for (mech) engineering.

groundhogday2day · 12/11/2023 16:47

DD hasnt heard from Bath yet either, She has applied for engineering and has offers from Bristol, southampton and Warwick. still waiting on Bath and Cambridge, but it does take the pressure of knowing that she has offers. I have no idea how it works with this no prejudice on kids applying later as surely if they are getting offers now, there wont be as many spaces in Jan? but guess they know what they are doing!

mrsconradfisher · 12/11/2023 19:35

We are waiting for Bath and Loughborough.

mondaytosunday · 12/11/2023 21:42

Ive checked the lists on student room too - no one seems to have heard from Bath. Last years thread seemed to indicate offers started end of November. Durham seems to have put out a few, not all contextual.
We are waiting on Bath, Durham, Cambridge and just added Glasgow today.

flotsomandjetsome · 13/11/2023 15:40

DS is at Bath now, last year offers were either really quick (a couple of weeks after early submission) or quite late.

From PPs it would seem are maybe not doing the very early offers??

PS beware of your DC putting Bath as their insurance choice. This years insurance offer holders were left with no accommodation at all, & only told about 3 weeks before freshers week! Some we know had to defer a year as there was nothing privately either.

Halloween73 · 13/11/2023 17:23

My daughter received an offer from Nottingham last week. She’s just had an offer from Exeter as well which she’s very happy about as her favourite 😊

It's also interesting to me, seeing how many people on there are predicted A. There's going to be some very disappointed kids given this years results. There's no way the majority are getting A.

Also, is it just a few universities that have offered, as it's very repetitive.

catmomof3 · 13/11/2023 18:30

@CornishGem1975 I think it's because so many schools over predict, never really understood why because it just leaves some students end up being disappointed come results day.

TheOnlyMrsW · 13/11/2023 19:07

@catmomof3 I'm slightly worried about DD's predicted grades tbh - AAB when she only got BBCC in summer exams (has since dropped a subject), but we had a good chat with school about it and her teachers feel that pushing the B's up is definitely achievable. Whilst the B in Chemistry is a bit optimistic they feel "good" exams and more importantly having extra time due to losing a subject will make all the difference in summer. Most of her tests this term have been A's or high B's in all 3 subjects so it looks like they might know what they're talking about!!! Most of the standard offers where she's applying are ABB, and there's a good chance of contextual offers from one or two, just have to keep my fingers crossed that she's at her best on exam days and AQA are kind with the questions...........

mondaytosunday · 13/11/2023 19:09

DD got her first (unconditional as grades in hand) offer from Glasgow for Sociology! She only added it to her UCAS form yesterday-speedy!

Ah that's brilliant, that should take the pressure off a bit with waiting on the Cambridge news.
