University offers coming in?

Just for nosiness and due to excitement about DS’s application going in, wondered if we could have a thread with people sharing offers as they are received, during this early phase.

Has anyone had an offer yet? Who will be first?

And totally realise that most won’t have applied yet and won’t do so for months and that’s absolutely fine and more normal.

DD just had an offer for Nottingham BBB for Mchem

Lightsabre · 09/11/2023 19:47

Congratulations to dc receiving offers over the last few days.

Incase it helps anyone on this thread, DS UCAS went in Friday for physics and got an offer Monday from York and yesterday from Warwick. Wasn’t expecting such quick responses.

EleanorSidgwick · 09/11/2023 22:18

@RosieMilkJug three A*

EleanorSidgwick · 10/11/2023 13:40

Son has just been offered Economics & Politics at Exeter

Revengeofthepangolins · 10/11/2023 15:03

English at Kings offer has arrived. Lovely to get that first one.

Silkiefloof · 10/11/2023 17:40

DD has only applied for 2 so far Econ & Mgmt at Oxford and Econ at LSE, both incredibly competitive, think 5% and 9% offer rates. Not heard from either yet other than sat TSA for Oxford and LSE sent a form first question was do you have FM and she had to put no and does school offer yes. Sent about mid October. Will be adding 3 more later. State.

DD3 just had offer from St Andrews today (hisory), much to our surprise - thought they were a ‘late’ uni. She’s delighted!

Memba · 10/11/2023 18:01

DD just got an offer from Warwick... Law with French Law. Absolutely chuffed to bits for her!

BiancaBlank · 10/11/2023 18:07

@Memba Great news!

That’s great news. Out of interest, is there anything such as contextual factors or grades in hand or international to explain the early offer? Thanks.

Fab!

tiggerandpoohtoo · 10/11/2023 18:47

We had an offer from Warwick today too for Chemistry!

ShanghaiDiva · 10/11/2023 20:11

Great news on offers, nice start to the weekend!

UZS · 10/11/2023 20:54

That’s terrific!

My son applied to St Andrews for History as well but has not heard anything yet

He is Independent school and predicted there A stars

do you mind sharing your DD’s predictions??

BiancaBlank · 10/11/2023 20:54

@WombatChocolate No! That was what made it surprising. She is English, at independent school, doesn’t qualify for any contextual consideration, pre A-level... We can only assume it might be because she applied for ancient & medieval history which is a much smaller subject than (general) history.

Ds too! This will probably be either his firm or insurance if his two aspirational choices don't work out. Very relieved as a few of his friends have offers from Warwick too.

Ritasueandbobtoo9 · 10/11/2023 22:07

Offer from Exeter for Natural Science yesterday. AAA

WombatChocolate · 11/11/2023 09:04

Sounds like lots of places are in full swing making offers now and that for most courses, everyone with the standard grade offer predictions or above gets an offer. Given that maybe 3/4 will decline the offer as they have a preferred one, they have to make plenty. It’s such a boost though to get the first offers and I guess they’d all like to have a complete set and the less competitive the courses/places the more it’s likely.

@RosieMilkJug three A*

Is three A* the offer for Comp Sci in Edinburgh? It seems high.

EleanorSidgwick · 11/11/2023 11:05

@NoraBattysCurlers yes it is. And it is very high!

Pleasealexa · 11/11/2023 14:19

Congratulations for all the offers. It seems most universities have offered, are any still not offering yet?? Haven't seen Bath yet but might have missed them. Ds's friend wants to go there

Silkiefloof · 11/11/2023 14:25

Not heard of any offers for LSE Economics or Oxford Uni Econ & Mgmt yet. Both super competitive. Think Oxford interviews come out end Nov with interviews early Dec then decisions early Jan. DD thinks LSE offers for Econ don't come out until next year.

Aurea · 11/11/2023 15:41

My son went to the offer holder day this year at Edinburgh Uni for computer science. He is currently happily studying there.

One of the most common questions (mainly from parents), was would the admission tutors accept dropped grades come results day. The answer was a resounding NO as the course is so popular. They also said they didn’t allow transfer ins from other similar disciplines due to lack of places.
