University offers coming in?

Just for nosiness and due to excitement about DS’s application going in, wondered if we could have a thread with people sharing offers as they are received, during this early phase.

Has anyone had an offer yet? Who will be first?

And totally realise that most won’t have applied yet and won’t do so for months and that’s absolutely fine and more normal.

Sorry to your daughter @SuccessM . Honestly what more do they want!

Could search 'what do they know' website for previous request ?

Aurea · 07/11/2023 16:21

If anyone is interested, Edinburgh Uni's admission stats are out for 2023.

notfeelingcreative · 07/11/2023 16:27

@sambamyty deffo a good idea. Will see if recent FOI data by applicant type is available. Overall it’s 15 applicants to 1 place.

sambamyty · 07/11/2023 16:30

@notfeelingcreative forgot to say , sorry to hear about your ds too. Absolutely their loss!
Let us know if you find anything.

MirandaWest · 07/11/2023 16:33

@notfeelingcreative @sambamyty sorry to hear about your DC. Sounds like it’s nigh on impossible to get an offer!

QueenMabby · 07/11/2023 16:37

Ds has heard from Lancaster - to invite him to attend an interview day. Oddly it says that if he doesn't want to attend the interview day then he'll receive the standard offer via UCAS! Anyone have any previous experience of this? Ds keen to go to one - I've advised him to pick the earliest date - sooner we know the better!

Revengeofthepangolins · 07/11/2023 16:37

They are pretty quick coming back with responses on whatdotheyknow. Just make sure you ask the exactly right question and the various slices of data you want.

QueenMabby · 07/11/2023 16:38

@notfeelingcreative @sambamyty - I do feel so for your dc. I remember how gutting it was to get a rejection. It's their loss.

Lightsabre · 07/11/2023 16:39

That is pretty shocking @notfeelingcreative - what on earth are they looking for? The system isn't very trans so we'll never know but perhaps your hunch about Oxford is right. Their loss anyway.

The Scots admission stats get really interesting when you slice them by ruk, standard vs contextual etc.

Lightsabre · 07/11/2023 16:40

Transparent not trans!

Dazed656 · 07/11/2023 17:42

Very sorry to hear about LSE economics - a shock with those amazing grades, though I know how competitive it is.

DC is applying to LSE but to a much less competitive course. I have been looking at this spreadsheet - looks like it’s 20/21 but interesting none the less

Rollergirl11 · 07/11/2023 18:24

Sorry to hear the bad news @SuccessM and @notfeelingcreative. Here’s hoping they get offers from their other options. I’m sure it’s LSE’s loss!

Congrats @PumpkinKnitter to your DD’s Warwick offer!

SuccessM · 07/11/2023 23:44

@stoneysongs Thanks for your kind words.

SuccessM · 07/11/2023 23:49

@Livinghappy thanks. She already got offer from Bristol for Bsc Economics about 2 weeks ago. Though LSE is at the top of her mind

SuccessM · 07/11/2023 23:51

@Lightsabre Thanks .We pray for more offers to come in.

SuccessM · 07/11/2023 23:57

@Jaxx Thanks. Yes we believe that. She even said that to me that she believes this LSE rejection means LSE is not the right place for her. I am glad the way she took the rejection but me on the other hand feel really down and sad about it. Like you said, I believe it's for the best. We pray God will give her the best uni for her.

SuccessM · 07/11/2023 23:59

@UZS Thanks for your kind words.

@ShanghaiDiva Thanks. She already got offer for Bsc Economics from Bristol about 2 weeks ago. Praying that more offers will come in.

SuccessM · 08/11/2023 00:15

@notfeelingcreative my Goodness! What else are they looking for. Your DS must be very sad. I wish him good luck with his other choices. Yes my daughter also completed that additional information form and indicated that she did TMUA as applying to Cambridge. They didn't even wait for the TMUA result to come out before sending the rejection. I wonder what they're looking for. One of my daughter's teachers that read her personal statement said she's shocked that she was rejected. The teacher said that her personal statement was excellent. The teacher said she will ring them to ask them what exactly they want. She rang them but didn't get through. She said she will ring again.

SuccessM · 08/11/2023 00:18

@sambamyty Thanks. I really wonder what else they want

DontLeanOnTheKeyboard · 08/11/2023 00:38

My DD had offers from Bournemouth, Liverpool, Reading and York all offering conditional place for grades lower than their standard. DD up for 2 A* and 1 A. She’s looking to do Classics and archeology. Just sent the requested work in to Oxford (they have to submit a sample of their work. It’s been a lovely confidence boost for her - Bournemouth and York responded within 3 days of her application.

SuccessM · 08/11/2023 00:18

@sambamyty Thanks. I really wonder what else they want

Maybe they prefer the international students as they get more money for it?

Newgirls · 08/11/2023 08:27

Were the people that didn’t get LSE offers from state or private? I wonder if that was a factor?

TheOnlyMrsW · 08/11/2023 09:53

@SuccessM @notfeelingcreative that's amazing (not in a good way) not to get offers with those grades and results.............hopefully offers from elsewhere will take their mind off it.
