University offers coming in?

Just for nosiness and due to excitement about DS’s application going in, wondered if we could have a thread with people sharing offers as they are received, during this early phase.

Has anyone had an offer yet? Who will be first?

And totally realise that most won’t have applied yet and won’t do so for months and that’s absolutely fine and more normal.

My DS submitted UCAS on Friday 6th October - Maths - and received an offer from Bristol on Monday! He was very pleased. Needs to fill in the supplementary form for Cambridge (long shot). Nothing yet from the others (Durham, Edinburgh, Bath)

One if my dc applued for maths a few years ago at Durham and Bath and both sent offers in November

Rollergirl11 · 02/11/2023 13:47

DD just received her 2nd offer from Lancaster for English Lit. AAB or ABB if she firms.

Lancaster is her 5th choice and was the lowest entry requirements until she got the amazing offer from Exeter. If the Cambridge boat sails and DD decides to firm Exeter she will then be in a position where she will have to insure somewhere with a higher offer which seems crazy! Have people done that in the past? Does UCAS allow you to do that?

Jaxx · 02/11/2023 13:53

@dynastyfan @RaelImperialAerosolKid

UCL, KCL and LSE may not even start making offers until January. No point stressing about it just yet.

Jaxx · 02/11/2023 13:59

@Rollergirl11 Wow great position to be in. Can’t see why there would be any point even insuring at all in this case.

During a hypothetical conversation with my son on what he would do IF he got offers for all his choices and it his plan was to insure Durham if he got a Cambridge offer even though they would likely be the same grades. It often surprises me how he can be so smart yet so silly at the same time 🙄.

Revengeofthepangolins · 02/11/2023 14:05

Yep. One doesn't have to put an insurance offer at all. With a lovely contextual at one's remaining fave there would be little point

ShanghaiDiva · 02/11/2023 14:12

@Rollergirl11
congratulations to your dd! No need for an insurance 😀

Violasrule · 02/11/2023 14:21

Offers from Nottingham, Sheffield and Lancaster for Law!

dynastyfan · 02/11/2023 14:29

@Jaxx
We aren't stressing- just wondered !

Yeah. All DD offers were three A's. As below, she got reduced offer of AAB for firming Exeter, so had Warwick as insurance at AAA. We were pretty secure in her predictions though.

Sorry was probably projecting after all I did go in search of the last year’s offers spreadsheet for UCL on the student room to check yesterday 🙄😂.

spacechimp79 · 02/11/2023 14:37

My DS has text to say he's had an offer from Lancaster. Same as @Rollergirl11 it is AAB, or ABB if he firms them. This is for PPE.

spacechimp79 · 02/11/2023 14:39

DS is still keenly waiting for an offer from UCL. Guess it'll be a while yet, but it is good to have 3 offers in the bag so far.

Musictimesthree · 02/11/2023 15:47

Four offers so far for Law.

But, final choice was Durham so think we could be in for a long wait.

Dixiechickonhols · 02/11/2023 16:12

DD has had law with politics offers from Glasgow (lnat) and Queens, Belfast so far both AAA. 3 to go but not anticipating hearing from those anytime soon.

Dazed656 · 02/11/2023 09:06

I’ve noticed that Stem type course offers seem to come out faster - is this a thing? I’ve seen a few Edinburgh offers on Reddit but all stem. DC waiting for Edinburgh but for essay subjects.

Ds nor his friends have had STEM offers yet. Wish they'd hurry up and give him one offer at least.

Lightsabre · 02/11/2023 16:16

Actually thinking about it, the 4 A star kids have had maths offers from Bristol and some have interview dates for Imperial.

Pleasealexa · 02/11/2023 17:19

@Lightsabre where has your son applied? I have heard of Maths offers for Sheffield, Loughborough & Manchester. However I hope that hasn't made you concerned...offers will happen, not sure there is a pattern.

Musictimesthree · 02/11/2023 17:21

@Dixiechickonhols DDs offers range from A*AA to AAB.

Predicted A*AA but I think this will be a challenge in at least one subject.

Where have they applied to?
Mine is predicted Astar Astar A. Waiting to hear Oxford, Durham, Kings for law.
I did encourage looking at one AAB University but it wasn’t for her for a few reasons.
Queens Belfast went in clearing this year so I suspect may take if she gets AAB (& keen to attract GB students) It will be gap year if not.

FebuarySmith · 02/11/2023 18:37

Durham offers seem to have started today. Several being posted on reddit tonight.

EleanorSidgwick · 02/11/2023 18:39

Interesting about Durham. Do you know which subjects?

FebuarySmith · 02/11/2023 18:41

Law, Liberal Arts and Computer Science posted so far.

Headingto18 · 02/11/2023 18:49

@FebuarySmith gosh so soon - i have also seen finance offers

toobusytothink · 02/11/2023 18:59

Came on to say that ds been offered Durham today which came as a shock as heard they offered late. He’s also had offers from Exeter and birmingham but is still waiting for bath and Nottingham …

Headingto18 · 02/11/2023 19:08
