Accommodation at Nottingham Uni

DD got a place through clearing last Thursday. They guarantee an offer of accommodation. She put an application in immediately and then dashed off for a fortnight's holiday!

Not heard anything yet. Anyone have any knowledge of accommodation at Nottingham?

@Sssudio ah that's good. Thanks for correcting that as I might have stressed someone out! I definitely saw people wheeling cases and carrying bags and boxes from the main campus towards Broadgate so I have no idea what they were doing.

@Sssudio - we're also South London! Must be something in the water here as I know so many DC reading Classics/Ancient History/Classical archaeology at the moment!

Yes, and nearly everyone going to Royal Holloway too. DS decided to spread his wings a bit further, tho after journey the yesterday war slightly regretting it. DH and I met in Nottingham this weekend many years ago so was fitting to be back (albeit different side of city!)

Can I join? Just dropped DS off. He is in Sherwiod. Didn't see any other students on.his corridor. Hope he meets some others soon. Feels very strange.

Hi @strawberriesandsun . I'm sure he will, if he remembers to go to the dining room for dinner! My son said it was very sociable last night and that's where they all chatted and arranged to go out. Different halls but the same concept. Hope he settles in ok

How are you doing @strawberriesandsun ? I've heard lots from DS today which is lovely for me but slightly concerning that he's messaging his mum rather than going out having fun and meeting people

Dropped my DS off at Nightingale yesterday. It was well-organised, easy parking and we got unpacked quickly. DS tells me he went down for dinner (like a school dinner but fine) and they went into Nottingham last night so seems to be mingling. Phew!

I'm very impressed with the Almera 🙂Decent sized rooms with comfy double bed. Six in the flat with two bathrooms, large kitchen with sofas and TV, plenty of cupboard and fridge space. Spotlessly clean - and relatively cheap!

I was in quite a panic when I started this thread but it seems to be working out for everyone accommodation wise.

DS was out last night and off out again tonight with ‘a bunch of flatmates’🤣 so guess that’s a good sign?!

Mine seems to be having a ball - likes the girls in her flat which is good. SO relieved that the studios are also flatted as I had visions of her in her room alone. I imagine she will have meet your DS this morning @Sssudio if not before as they are doing pretty well the same subject.

Spoke to DS a few minutes ago before his afternoon nap 🤣🤣said he’s been using the electric scooters in the city and they’re really fun….went to an introductory lecture about his course today & has a tutor group meeting at 9am tomorrow! All good stuff 😊

@Allloveisbeautiful I had a WhatsApp from mine when he got in this afternoon (having been to inductions this morning and Welcome fair this afternoon) saying he was going to ‘sit and relax for a bit’ 🤣 (fair dos, I think he’s been doing a lot of walking and he has been unwell recently. I’ll have to suggest the scooters although he has his bike there. He was on foot today because he walked in with a flatmate who’s on a similar course).

He said the fair was heaving, in fact they queued for quite a while to get in.

@jellycat apparently the scooters are a couple of pounds more than the bus so they will probably be a short lived thing for DS! He said the queue was too long for the Freshers Fair by the time he got there so will go back tomorrow…as he has a 9am tutor group meeting that should be more feasible!

I said to ds could he go back another time…I didn’t get a straight response though! He might go back tomorrow then. I’m not sure he managed to see it all. He hasn’t given me his timetable for the whole week so I don’t know what he’s doing tomorrow.

DS made it into the fair and sent a photo of a life size cut out of Taylor Swift (from the Swift society) staring out a life-sized cut-out of the Pope (Catholic Society).

And being a good leftie said not one person went up to the Tory society stall the entire hour he was there (apologies any Tories - and other DCs are v much not left-wing!)

Ha I tried to have a recce to figure it out but didn't have a card. Impressed she's washing that quickly, friends son has been gone 2.5 weeks, took 11 pants and yet to wash
