Following on from the A level support thread I thought I would create one for results day.
Hopefully you will all join me for the long nail biting wait and the big day at the end of it!

@iamnotanalcoholic70 navigating two through the medicine application process is extremely impressive. Well done for getting this far and all best for your ds.

Thank you. It was much easier in my day!!

Thethingswedoforlove · 23/06/2023 18:50

@iamnotanalcoholic70 and you are a medic too? Even more respect! I’m just hoping my dd gets her AAA as she is sooo desp to get on with studying medicine…:.

Yey to all finishing today. It's a wrap...
well several wraps all following each other in a parenting mode...

Yey to all.

😄

So pleased to have got my twins through 22 separate A level exams and be finally finished. Celebrating with a glass of wine before Results Day worries start setting in

Be sure to enjoy this period of relative calm and if you can, try and grab some me time- I’m planning a Parkrun tomorrow and some much needed gardening

legalalien · 23/06/2023 22:39

OMG- the thought of getting twins through exams! Should have occurred to me as one of DS' friends is a twin - must ring his mum and arrange drinks!

DS thought this morning went OK, has played yet another cricket match and has gone to a mate's place for a post exam get together (apparently their house is much nicer than ours - think that's a win for me on balance). I've had a takeaway Indian and caught up on Great British Sewing Bee. Bliss.

QueenofLouisiana · 24/06/2023 07:04

Are we all done?

I think there may be a further maths and an RE left for some? Gentle hugs if you are a parent of a student taking one of hers very last exams.

I’ve hardly seen DS this week. I go to work, he’s asleep. I come home, he’s at work. We ate dinner together on Wednesday. I saw him last night as he asked for a lift into town (change of plan as mate’s car needed work). I’ll see him tonight as I’d agreed to be a taxi for him and mates (he was taxi for DH and I a few weeks back after a beer festival 😀).

Anyone else have DC who are now Misding In Action?

QueenofLouisiana · 24/06/2023 07:05

hers= these (really need to get my reading glasses sorted).

Yes and no. DD going to work now four hours a day. And out a lot. But not a bad thing as we got on each others nerves a lot due to exam stress. Enforced creeping around the house during studying etc.

But it feels really weird and unreal at the moment. Can't help feeling I have let her down already by not supporting her more, but it was all so difficult. I hated exam stress in the house. And that is not too strong a word.

Some things better now but it is kind of like we have been living in an exam stress bubble and only students and parents going through it actually get what I am talking about. Grateful therefore for threads on here.

Narrowly missed the whole street being dug up - to put new Virgin broadband cables in - phew. So glad it didn't happen during exams, they have marked out the whole street plus pavements so not looking forward to the drilling. I don't do well with noise like that. Anyone know how long it will take? The letter we got from broadband company was useless.

Dd seemed to move to the beach the moment her exams ended Grin.

She has just touched down in Porto, so a change of beach scenery for her.

Massive respect to exam season twin mums everywhere! Wow.

kackle · 24/06/2023 10:13

Dd currently fast asleep after ball and after ball last night. she arrived home at 0500 this morning.

Off to wake her soon for breakfast in bed and then shes off in holiday in the wee small hours of Sunday morning.

Its been a long few weeks with exam stress and a death in the family and we have been walking on egg shells and creeping round the house.

She has been hard at it with her revision since Xmas and deserves success for her commitment and work ethic.

Looking forward to a chilled summer with my lovely girl but am really very anxious about results day already.

ZittiEBuoni · 24/06/2023 10:51

I've already had a results day anxiety dream...

I've already had a results day anxiety dream...

handhold

Currently trying to get flight to Spain - for her language course in July, but panicking at parental consent forms etc as she is not eighteen yet...

Don't think there is a single thing that I'm NOT anxious about now...

try to hide it from DD - fake it to make it, but it doesn't work half the time...

HereWeGo2023 · 24/06/2023 22:43

We’ve had a horrible week. Our 14 year old dog died on Tuesday. A much loved member of the family and very sadly missed, it was totally unexpected
so glad it didn’t happen during the exams, the lovely boy waited.

I’m so sorry to hear that, @HereWeGo2023. What a very bitter sweet time for your family. Sending you love ❤

PacificState · 24/06/2023 23:17

Oh no @HereWeGo2023 Dogs are heart-breakers. Hope you're ok.

Forestfriendlygarden · 25/06/2023 08:34

So sorry for your loss Herewego.

ZittiEBuoni · 25/06/2023 09:26

Oh no, sorry to hear that @HereWeGo2023 . What a faithful old boy, hanging on in there till the exams were over.

Possibly67 · 25/06/2023 10:11

So good to have this chat! I’m trying very very hard not to worry about results day but deep down am SO worried! I know whatever happens will be ok but I just can’t bear the image of my DD opening that email and not getting the grades for her dream Uni.. I have NO idea at all how she did in the end… so difficult to tell and so many variables…

KittyMcKitty · 25/06/2023 11:19

I’m dreading it - dd feels she won’t meet her offer (on paper her offer is very very achievable) as she messed up Biology P1. It’s like an 8 week count down to milk the end of her dreams here. No one mentioning the massive elephant! I’m hoping after a week or so she will relax somewhat before the anxiety ramps up. I just want it over so we can regroup and move on.

MarshaBradyo · 25/06/2023 11:26

I’m nervous too I don’t know if he’s done it. Feels a high bar

He’s very happy and relaxed and like pp doing his own things with friends. He’s got a nice job back if he wants it too (stopped for exams)

PacificState · 25/06/2023 13:20

Half of me thinks DS2 will be fine and half of me thinks he won't. Mostly I'm trying to give myself a break from stressing before I inevitably start winding myself back up in August...

Forestfriendlygarden · 25/06/2023 13:25

I get it.
Just focussing on organising the Spanish trip and necessary travel planning.
It's a distraction anyway.

Also some (more) finance forms for her dream uni that had gone under, a declaration to say that student finance had been applied for etc.
She has already registered for an online course in July for 4 weeks which is a requirement of the offer there, so it seems
completely topsy turvy thinking if she doesn't get the results she wants she wil have invested in that as well. Sigh.

Still. There may be good news...her job is working out well and she is learning stuff...

Forestfriendlygarden · 25/06/2023 13:26

Better than last years summer hols though, when she really didn't get one, between one summer school and another. so difficult then with the train strikes.

Travelban · 25/06/2023 13:34

DD1 has gone away today and anxiety around results hasn't kicked in yet. She is sure she hasn't met her offer, but resigned to the fact that she will probably end in clearing.

I told her that as long as she passed 3 a levels, there are always options open, so she seems a bit more relaxed about it all. It will be nerve wracking as we get closer no doubt.

mrsconradfisher · 25/06/2023 16:36

My DS literally cannot keep still, he is driving me insane! He is currently working 2 jobs to keep busy and is also doing a Football coaching course. I think it’s the come down of working constantly.
