Following on from the A level support thread I thought I would create one for results day.
Hopefully you will all join me for the long nail biting wait and the big day at the end of it!

Morning!

BellsaRinging · 17/08/2023 06:00

Morning all! I've been up a while, but typically ds is sound asleep!
Just wanted to say thanks for the thread and the company and of course the best of luck to the dc and you for the results.

stilldumdedumming · 17/08/2023 06:03

Morning all. Here we all are then? Went to bed with dread but woke pretty ok. Contemplating a work out first and then I shall be making a cheese and pineapple hedgehog. Ds is determined to move away and so he is unlikely to be getting one of those for a while. He lives half an hour from me. So I'm waiting for his call.

Smooth sailing to all and let's hope things shake out well for everyone. Thanks for your company.

PacificState · 17/08/2023 06:04

Morning. Been up since 4, DS snoring away of course. Have to work today (wish I'd taken all the advice on here to take the day off). Feeling a bit sick...

LaurelGrove · 17/08/2023 06:11

Have been awake since around 3am, DD fast asleep. Hanging up washing and then am going to go for a run - things must be bad if that's my activity of choice!

PacificState · 17/08/2023 06:16

I briefly considered going into the garden and finishing off the first coat of weatherproof paint on our new shed, but given how tired and wired I am I'd be quite likely to empty the paint pot over my head

AfingeroffudgeisNOTenough · 17/08/2023 06:19

Checking in. Just woke up. DH is up and in the shower although that’s actually a lie in for him as he’s usually up around 5am anyway. He’s blocked his morning out until 10am, so no massive rush here. DD still in bed although no idea if she’s awake. I feel sick to my stomach, but not actually about the results - think I just didn’t sleep well and am over tired. DD is totally calm and a friend said to me last night to recognise what a good sign that was - she’s confident and calm so I’m trying to take my lead from her. Less than 2 hours until we know - not long to wait!

TeenDivided · 17/08/2023 06:23

Best wishes, you're my DD's cohort, though she isn't doing A levels.
Hope they all get onto future courses they are happy with, and if they don't something will sort out.

tribpot · 17/08/2023 06:24

An early piece of good news - DS' appointment this evening has been cancelled so I haven't got a marathon drive across the city, hurrah! Hope that isn't the peak of good news for the day, of course.

Riverpebble · 17/08/2023 06:24

Good luck everybody, I’m awake and waiting, the teenager is asleep still,

kidstaxidriver · 17/08/2023 06:27

Morning all! Also a dreadful nights sleep and up early! This thread has been invaluable, so thank you! Wishing everyone luck today. DS insurance is in clearing so was initially hopeful that might mean he’s ok and there’s places but now I’ve decided it means everyone’s grades haven’t been good enough so they’re trying to fill spaces. Just desperately hoping we get something and that the ucas system doesn’t crash!!! Best of luck to you all

HappySonHappyMum · 17/08/2023 06:30

Morning all - woke up at 5:07 - tired so hard to go back to sleep but gave up at 5:57! Now showered and ready for the day. Bring it on - good luck to everybody's DC.

NotDonna · 17/08/2023 06:31

Morning everyone. 👋🏼
Whatever happens we’ve got this and they’ll be fine. They’re resilient and have our support.
This is going to be a long 1.5hrs though!

Titsywoo · 17/08/2023 06:32

Morning all! Bloody terrible sleep. Think I managed 2 broken hours. Way too wired and overthinking every possible scenario. Dd asleep though so its just me worrying (to be fair she was feeling very sick and had no appetite last night which may have been nerves).

PacificState · 17/08/2023 06:33

The Times's story for today (well, placeholder until embargo is up at 8am I guess) is that there are many more RG places in clearing this year and that this means one of two things:

a) lots of kids didn't achieve their grades and their places have been released
OR
b) lots of kids achieved their firm and their insurance places have been released

I'm sure this is the kind of insight we are all looking for Confused

kidstaxidriver · 17/08/2023 06:34

Has anyone had the leaked email to their child’s phone from a Uni welcoming them? Nothing here! Is it best to login to ucas at 8am or wait a few minutes or will it have crashed by then 😬having been quite calm until yesterday I’m now panicking it will be disastrous for DS as he would only just be scraping his grades anyway and the press have certainly had a field day on filling us all with doom and gloom

Guinefort · 17/08/2023 06:36

Morning all! Tossed and turned all night but made myself stay in bed until 6. Just off to turn my elderly ponies out and try and harness their magical calming powers to get through the next hour and a half Grin

chosenone · 17/08/2023 06:37

Morning everyone. Hope it's good news for us all 🙏 I've noticed some real reductions in clearing which has sent my mind into overdrive! Not too long now

SerenadeOfTheSchoolRun · 17/08/2023 06:37

Morning. I was wake between 4 and 5 looking at clearing. York has filled loads of its courses overnight having had so much in clearing before - wondering if they have received a lot of insurance students or something. The Times are saying there are more Russell Group university courses available than usual. Not long to go now.

FriendlyLaundryMonster · 17/08/2023 06:38

Morning all, ds is still asleep. I had to get up with a headache. Ds and I are fairly chilled. He has two good options on his UCAS, either would be great; neither is in clearing. DH is super stressed though!

Era · 17/08/2023 06:38

Cocopogo · 16/08/2023 23:12

My sons insurance choice - Lancaster - lost their Bsc status so their degree is worthless so now clearing is our plan B

This isn’t correct. Assume you’re talking about economics? Your sun has completely misunderstood this. It’s just a less maths based course.

Lancaster only has so many clearing slots because it’s a major minor university where everyone (apart from a few specialist courses like medicine) takes three subjects in the first year.

GivingItAWhirl · 17/08/2023 06:39

Seems a few on WIWIKAU have had leaked emails regarding results

troppibambini6 · 17/08/2023 06:39

Bloody times wish it would bugger off!

Thanks again for the kind words last night and I'm really sorry for other dcs having a rough time with mates.

I've been awake since 5 but like others didn't want to get up and wake anyone up. I'm downstairs with a coffee now as I was dying for a wee!

The very very best of luck to everyone. Our dc are all absolutely amazing come what may this morning xxx

HereWeGo2023 · 17/08/2023 06:39

Morning all. I’ve been awake since 3, I finally gave in and got up at 4. I’m Sitting silently in the front room so as not to wake DD
i made the mistake of reading the news and now I feel even more sick with nerves. I just hope the ground boundaries aren’t too harsh.
Time is going so slowly but I can’t decide if that’s good or bad.
i literally don’t know what to do with myself. I’ve never been so nervous in my life!!

Morning all. Sending good luck wishes to all today. DS is still asleep but we're off into school in a bit to collect the envelope.
