Following on from the A level support thread I thought I would create one for results day.
Hopefully you will all join me for the long nail biting wait and the big day at the end of it!

I’m going to bed now. I doubt sleep will come any time soon. I wish all of your DC (and mine!) the very best of luck for tomorrow.
If this thread starts getting full I’ll post a link to a new one.
I just want to thank you all for sharing this journey with me, we have all been a massive support to each other. I posted the original one searching for a bit of solidarity and hoping for a few replies. Im so glad you all found it.
Again, best of luck to everyone. See you tomorrow!

@SlightlyJaded no not the night before but sometime on their way to school/college to get results. There’s an embargo until 8am.

flotsomandjetsome · 16/08/2023 23:04

Good luck everyone - although as my rather stoic DH said earlier, they don't need luck now, it's all done and dusted, tomorrow is just opening an envelope to find out whats already happened - what a joy he is!

But still the best of luck to you and yours DCs

Theworried2 · 16/08/2023 23:10

Is there normally a UCAS crash at 8am as too many people log on? DS wants to check before entering school

SerenadeOfTheSchoolRun · 16/08/2023 23:11

Thanks @HereWeGo2023 for the thread and for all the threads since late last year. It’s been great to be in it together with everyone. Hoping for lots of good news tomorrow, having followed so many stories for the beginning, I am rooting for all your DC. Sleep well everyone (if you can) and see you on results day!

isthatmyage · 16/08/2023 23:12

Good luck everyone.....nervous DD here deciding on an apprenticeship with one of the Big 4 or Economics at Cardiff...grades depending...guess which one mums hoping for 🤣🤣

Cocopogo · 16/08/2023 23:12

My sons insurance choice - Lancaster - lost their Bsc status so their degree is worthless so now clearing is our plan B

KittyMcKitty · 16/08/2023 23:13

when my ds got his results 2 years ago he got onto UCAS and saw his confirmation but it must have crashed pretty much then as many of his friends couldn’t get on for a while. Very unlike ds to be early to anything!

Good luck for tomorrow to all the dc - I hope the day brings joy - as for me I just feel slightly sick at the moment.

NotDonna · 16/08/2023 23:23

@isthatmyage haven’t the Big4 already confirmed her place? You may find that if she misses her grades slightly they’ll have her regardless given the incredibly rigorous selection process. DD1 an apprentice at a Big4 and they announced in June (after all the tag exams in 2021) that they’d accept everyone regardless of grades. Good luck to her either way!

Thank you, yes you're right...she's now wavering between starting with them or Uni course.....hence the stress...🥹

DrMadelineMaxwell · 16/08/2023 23:52

Good luck all. x

Also is your DD1 enjoying her time? My DD wondering if it would really suit her...she's very hard working but also very sociable...I keep saying yes it would but she thinks she'll miss out on the 'Uni experience'...I think she'll thrive anywhere but has to ultimately be her decision x

I think ds is just trying to forget it's happening until this time tomorrow when we will be sitting outside school waiting for it to open at 8.
He has a Plan A, but that's it. Stupid I know but he didn't want to do anything else.
Plan A is a degree apprenticeship with a very well-known global company which will undoubtedly lead to a good job for life if he wants it.
If he doesn't get the grades/points, who knows. It's going to be touch and go I fear.😱

This is my son too. Only a Plan A. Degree apprenticeship with a global company.

3As needed. Or EPQ A, A in maths, AB.

And it's the maths that didn't go well.

What do you mean?

SmartHome · 17/08/2023 00:41

I's also like to know what this means as Lancaster is one DS might be considering if goes to clearing. They have dropped grade requirements for his subject significantly ...

NotDonna · 17/08/2023 01:08

I’ll private message @isthatmyage

Chickydoo · 17/08/2023 05:18

Awake now, no chance of getting back to sleep. Can't decide whether to go and make a coffee. I don't want to disturb what might be a couple more important hours of sleep for DC. Maybe I will just Mumsnet for a while. I have the day off today so I guess I can have a snooze later.
Only have to hold things together for just over 2 1/2 hours.

GivingItAWhirl · 17/08/2023 05:19

Well that’s me given up on sleep, woke about an hour ago and have just decided to get up and have a coffee. I just hope my DS gets what he needs to go where he wants to go! I too saw all his 4 other choices in clearing - but all with the same offer code. No reductions

GivingItAWhirl · 17/08/2023 05:20

@Chickydoo 🤣 snap!

Chickydoo · 17/08/2023 05:25

@GivingItAWhirl None of my DC's courses are in clearing so crossing everything even tighter!

JulesJules · 17/08/2023 05:31

Morning ☕

GivingItAWhirl · 17/08/2023 05:36

I’m sure that all will be well with our kids….hassle-free and celebratory!

Tree543 · 17/08/2023 05:42

Morning! Didn't sleep a wink last night. Might as well get up and check clearing. Good luck all!

tribpot · 17/08/2023 05:56

Morning all, I've been awake since 3, which would kind of be okay except I have to drive DS across the city and back in the early evening, and probably won't be able to sleep beforehand as the cleaners will be coming in but I don't know when.

DS fortunately is still asleep, we're planning to go out for a walk before it all gets started this morning.

Very worried that these kids are going to be punished so the government can score some headlines about having fixed grade inflation, a topic the newspapers care about for essentially 1 day a year. I just hope as many as possible can come out happy with the grades they've got relative to their predictions, and able to take the next step in their adult lives, whether that's uni or work or something else.

Summersizzle · 17/08/2023 05:56

Eek……
