University near(ish) a beach

We don't live anywhere near a beach and so DC would love to have reasonably easy access to one at uni. Somewhere you can walk to or take public transport to on a weekend day say, if you wake up and feel like it ( as opposed to needing to plan in advance and get up at 5am). Or even closer would be amazing.
They are looking at doing a traditional academic subject, so Bournemouth for example, although it looks fab, would probably not be the best choice. Beach proximity cannot be the first filter!

Lancaster?

top priority is the degree itself. Different universities do well/badly depending on the degree.

Newcastle has a metro line to some fabulous (if sometimes chilly) beaches!

Exeter?

Aberystwyth

Swansea University is across the road from a beach.

Southampton or Portsmouth

Both have easy train access to south coast seasides

Cardiff?

Leiden (netherlands)?

The Hague with the beach is only a train stop away.

Falmouth

Sussex

Liverpool has a couple of lovely beaches!!

Goasgow/Strathclyde short train ride to west coast.

Chichester. Public transport to nearby Wittering Beach. Water sports available.

Essex University.
A train from the Hythe will get you to the delights of either Clacton, Walton or Frinton.
I cycled to Clacton from nearby Greenstead once, as a young teenager. So it's pretty close.
