@Monkey2001 we did suspect, but it's hard to convince kids who really like the course and have perfect GCSEs that a Uni wouldn't be open and honest with prospective students. At least now they are saying it openly for next year.

UnclearNuclear · 15/12/2022 22:11

Sorry posted this in the oxbridge thread by mistake... in case you think you're seeing double...

Dd has been ill since yesterday.. she got through the Glasgow interview but has spent today on the sofa instead of school. She's emailed Edinburgh to see if any chance of rearranging from tomorrow but we're not expecting it to be likely but she won't be at her best and they are MMIs online. Proud that she thought to email them though - only told me later.

MrsBennetsPoorNerves · 16/12/2022 00:25

DD has heard from Queen Mary now, and has an interview in January.🙂

GoldieRetrieversRule1 · 16/12/2022 07:07

Glad to hear that @MrsBennetsPoorNerves ! Best of luck to your DD with the interview!

mumsneedwine · 16/12/2022 08:11

Good luck to everyone with interviews over the next few weeks.

Finally end of term today. We are limping along with loads of Scarlett fever and strep in both staff and students. Attendance is worse than during covid. Few hours to go and I can sleep.

Unexpecteddrivinginstructor · 16/12/2022 08:15

🍾🍾🍸🍸🍷🍷mums need wine! hope you have a really good break with your family.

mumsneedwine · 16/12/2022 08:20

@Unexpecteddrivinginstructor 😊😊 kids both home from Uni (eldest did SJT last weekend, then went back to do last surgery bits, then drove home again yesterday).
They are finally warm (can't afford heating at Uni so it's been on 2 hours a day !).
And all is right with my world 🥰
Merry Christmas everyone 🎄 🤶

Monkey2001 · 16/12/2022 08:23

Aw, enjoy your time with your chicks @mumsneedwine . Sounds awful at school, train strikes must also affect attendance in London if tubes are not running.

Unexpecteddrivinginstructor · 16/12/2022 08:29

@mumsneedwine so glad they are home already for you, they can pour your wine while you put your feet up for a while! Must be a nightmare with all the train strikes, good luck to anyone with children still trying to get home.

Anyone got Liverpool invitation yet? They seem to have started yesterday.

They seem to be those with high UCAT scores at the moment and grads.

AsdaYellowTins · 15/12/2022 11:13

DD has had a rejection from Cardiff. She's sad because that was her favourite. Good ucat, great gcse's and predicted 3 x A * but not Welsh. Just waiting to hear from Southampton now. For that we are reasonably local, I wonder if helps at all, or is it just cardiff that favours locals?

Sorry to hear about Cardiff decision @AsdaYellowTins Hope your DD recovers from this disappointment soon.
We are waiting for Southampton as well.

Congratulations for the Queen Mary inteview in January @MrsBennetsPoorNerves
My DD has received interview invite from Imperial. They sent survey asking for the preferred date and time in Jan and Feb for interview. Two dates because there are two different types of sessions.
She has two interview invites now. Leicester and Imperial. One during the mock and another first round just after the mocks.
She is stessing about everything coming at the same time. 🙁
I try to tell her that it is essential to stay calm. But I know it is easier said than done.

Unexpecteddrivinginstructor · 16/12/2022 13:46

Assuming we do not have a covid repeat <shudder> hopefully the mocks will not be too influential.

Congratulations to your dd on the Imperial invitation @medParent. Dd is still waiting to hear from Imperial but not very hopeful on the basis of her BMAT. Could I ask what your dd's BMAT score was?

DD has 10 days between her 2 interviews but doesn't seem overly stressed by it at the moment. That might change as we get closer to the dates...

MrsBennetsPoorNerves · 16/12/2022 17:09

Sorry, just seen that you posted the BMAT scores above.

Fingers crossed for all of them and hoping that they all get in somewhere!!

Peachy2005 · 16/12/2022 08:38

Anyone got Liverpool invitation yet? They seem to have started yesterday.

My DS received an interview invite for Liverpool yesterday. So he has got 3 interviews in January. He doesn't seem to be preparing.

kk10 · 16/12/2022 23:40

DS needs to submit GCSE certificate before Liverpool interview. Unfortunately he cannot find it. Emailed school today. Waiting for reply. Going to call university on Monday but weekend is going to be stressful. Can't wait for this process to be over 🙌🏼

Cratos · 17/12/2022 08:14

@kk10 I didn't realise they were asking for certificates. These certificates should have been available electronically. How frustrating. Hope school can help.

Monkey2001 · 17/12/2022 08:39

I have a friend who works in an exams office and she has been trying to contact several years worth of students who have not got round to collecting certificates as they are supposed to destroy then after a few years. If you have not had the certificates yet they will still have them. I would recommend that you scan them as soon as you have them and keep a digital copy in a safe place.

Leicester has a mark for admin as one of the stations, so anyone with a Leicester interview needs to be on the ball with doing whatever is now required with certificates (when DS1 applied he had to take the originals and a set of copies to his interview).

mumsneedwine · 17/12/2022 08:53

For exam certificates some great advice I was given is to scan them as soon as you get them. Save the scans somewhere easy to remember and then they are always there to send off, but also so you don't lose them.

mumsneedwine · 17/12/2022 08:54

@Monkey2001 😂😂 great minds again 🤶

Monkey2001 · 17/12/2022 09:22

@mumsneedwine 😁

kk10 · 17/12/2022 09:55

@Cratos yes, Liverpool and Leicester.
@Monkey2001 @mumsneedwine DS did collect but we can't find them. We always scan such documents but unfortunately he never gave it to us and us, not being from UK, had no idea about seperate certificates. I was just safekeeping his result sheet from the results day 😔 School can't help. We have to reapply at the cost of £300

mumsneedwine · 17/12/2022 11:13

@kk10 for now Liverpool might accept the school results sheet, pending the certificates arriving. If DS emails them to let them know what happened I'm sure it will be fine. It is v v common for GCSEs to go missing.
