Absolutechaos · 28/02/2023 11:41

Any views on the media coverage in relation to financial problems at UEA?

Monkey2001 · 28/02/2023 14:31

@Absolutechaos it is not good, but I don't think the health courses will be as hard hit as other areas. UEA will not be allowed to fail, but if they are trying to save costs, they may be a bit less generous in various areas.

NoNotHimTheOtherOne · 28/02/2023 16:21

UEA is facing the same challenges as most other universities. They are all having to work on recruiting more students - particularly to cheaper, classroom-based courses - to increase revenue while also cutting costs through redundancies, merging central services with other institutions', etc. As tuition fees remain frozen while all costs (staff and non-staff) keep increasing, there are very few universities that are financially viable in the medium term. Heating & electricity costs are adding to the pressure, often wiping out savings or additional income streams that have already been achieved.
