@CharlieSJ thank you. we found somewhere that was all day parking for £7, only 10 mins walk to ARU. We stayed out of town (got a bit muddled booking it) so couldnt walk in. How is your son finding ARU? My daughter really liked it. No idea how she did in the interview; will have to wait until Feb to find out.

My son is in his first year at ARU and he is really enjoying it. Let me know if you have any questions.

Second interview offer came yesterday from KMMS. Both Leicester and KMMS are in same week one after the other. Still waiting for Barts and Liverpool but I think these two yet to start sending invites. Barts emailed DS their interview talk so fingers crossed it's a good sign.

UnclearNuclear · 07/12/2022 12:04

DD now has 4 interviews (cannot believe that really! she'd have been happy with one), and they are all before next Friday 16th. First is tomorrow, in person, relying on trains (I'd have booked an earlier one than she has, trying to not pass on my anxiety about this - she's right, 2 hours early should be enough, but if it's not, it's not). She has a mock interview at school today - teacher is on interview panel at a different med school so that should be really valuable. She just needs one offer...

Good luck to everyone else too! And to those that haven't heard. One of her friends hasn't heard from one med school that she and another friend have interviews with - hard to reassure her that they haven't sent out all interview requests yet, but it's true.

Africa2go · 07/12/2022 12:06

Thats brilliant and fab for her that she'll be done and dusted before Christmas! Wishing her luck!

UnclearNuclear · 07/12/2022 12:10

Thanks @Africa2go - yes, great to be done before mocks too, she's really lucky. Just hope she's preparing well - I can't get too involved and I wouldn't have wanted to at her stage either.

opoponax · 07/12/2022 13:18

Good luck to your DD @UnclearNuclear. Hope all goes well. My DD has two interviews before Christmas and two after but she has managed to avoid mock clashes. I can hear her practicing/talking to herself up in her room at the moment.

@UnclearNuclear just like buses - those inteviews 😄Wishing yr DD best of luck in all of them!

coffeeandbiscuittime · 07/12/2022 16:55

HYMS interview came in today.
Thank you for all the good wishes. I am under strict instructions that I am with my sister as an extra pair of ears, I am not allowed to say anything. ( people I work with are laughing at this- they don't think I will be able to keep quiet).
Even though I am NHS this whole applying to medicine has been a real eye opener and I have not been much use to my DD as it's a completely different interviews/ application process. Good luck.

MrsBennetsPoorNerves · 08/12/2022 07:55

Still waiting to hear from UCL here@medParent. Not very hopeful tbh as bmat score was disappointing.

Congratulations to @UnclearNuclear's dc. That's a fabulous achievement.

Thethingswedoforlove · 08/12/2022 09:19

Still waiting for hyms and liverpool

gardensandchocolate · 08/12/2022 13:37

Thank you for the thread. You all sound like such amazing parents, the shared advice is great, I wish I'd found you sooner!
DD had a really disappointing UCAT so she applied to Keele and Aston for UCAT unis and Leeds and BSMS for her BMAT which was much better - phew ... Now waiting on tenterhooks as no responses at all so far ...

handholds extended and needed 🙏

Africa2go · 08/12/2022 13:55

@gardensandchocolate its an agonising process, good luck to your DD. I think for Aston, if you go on TSR you can see the scores of applicants that have already been invited for interview so far - that's helped with 1 of DD's choices as she can see she's scored better the people who've got interviews, so whilst you can never be sure until you get confirmation, its settled her nerves that it is just a question of interviews coming out in batches and she's v likely to get one.

Lottsbiffandsmudge · 08/12/2022 16:48

DS had his Cambridge interviews today. Seemed to go OK. But who knows.
We have a break until Jan now. And then a run of 3.

kk10 · 08/12/2022 21:23

Will there still be role play station if interview is online? Kinda hard to do it online

Thethingswedoforlove · 08/12/2022 21:51

DS had an on line role play in Manchester interview last year

kk10 · 08/12/2022 22:39

Very nerve wrecking time😥There is so much to practice and read

gardensandchocolate · 09/12/2022 05:35

@Africa2go thank you, TSR is great!

UnclearNuclear · 09/12/2022 10:08

DD had her first and only in person (MMI) interview yesterday at Newcastle - she enjoyed it, found them friendly and not stuffy, quite challenging (as you'd hope). The trains behaved enough on the way there (10 mins late) but were stuffed on the way back and I'd to collect her further away than planned - thankful it was on the way back. Lots of trains cancelled all day due to a death on the line, and snow/ice.

As it happened, we had to collect her sister from the family whose dad she shadowed in hospital and both parents trained there so was quite a fun debrief.

She has 3 online ones next week - one is MMI, the others are 2 parters I think. Feeling very lucky to get them all (at all) and all done before Christmas, just a long wait after that.

The one that dd had in her in-person interview yesterday would have worked just as well online I think. She's expecting similar in one next week that uses MMI.

I imagine they will do it rather like the school parents' evening software (I think we all mostly use the same School Cloud one don't we, as it's gov released) that hoiks you in and out of meetings. Her in-person one was very regimented she said with buzzers and tannoys and 2 minutes left warnings for moving station. Note, I said "I imagine"!

Was it your son that was Jesus? Glad his interviews went well. DD is next week...

UnclearNuclear · 09/12/2022 10:15

I mean, not literally Jesus... College... 😆

😂 no he isn't Jesus. He is Emmanuel though..... so not too far wrong!

Africa2go · 09/12/2022 12:50

Another interview invitation just received (Queens). 2 in, 2 to go (god, this is exhausting Smile)

Monkey2001 · 09/12/2022 15:57

DS not happy with his Newcastle interview, thought UEA went much better, but that is fine as he prefers the UEA course anyway. I suspect he may be unduly harsh on himself, but the only reason he really wants Newcastle now is because it would be unconditional (the others would all want Chemistry). 2 down, the others (his top two) will be after Christmas.
