Not sure if there is already a thread on this? My son is hoping to apply to Cambridge for Computer Science for October 2023 start.

We are very happy and relieved about the offer of course. She know whatever happens with the other unis, she has the birmingham offer. We were quite worried about offers as we thought it would be very competitive this year again.

AffronttoBS · 25/10/2022 16:50

@perseverence thanks . That’s good to know. Dd wasn’t sure about whether to go for Southampton or Brum (she chose Brum). She had a thing against it initially, as she didn’t want to go to the same uni as her parents, but we quickly drove through it at the end of the summer hols while visiting relatives, and luckily it was a sunny day and the campus did look beautiful.

First offer is ABB from birmingham for chemistry. It’s lower than the standard entry requirement stated. What could be the rationale for that?

DS is applying for chemistry too. His offer from Bristol was lower than we thought it would be so we decided either it's a contextual offer or they really want him. Or both. Either way we're happy.

AffronttoBS · 25/10/2022 17:12

Great news @babysteps22 🎉

They've decided they want the applicant and are prepared to lower the offer to get them. Well done 🙂

Revengeofthepangolins · 26/10/2022 08:14

Or contextual

Incrediblebuttrue · 13/10/2022 16:55

Hello. Just pressed send on ds's application to Oxford. Do they reject anyone BEFORE the TSA? I think that would be worse tbh especially as we have already paid!

I don't think so. I've not heard of this before.
Anyone?

perseverence · 26/10/2022 09:29

Update:
Asked for grades on website s in order of preference now:

Oxford A* AA (4 years BPS accredited - Psychology and Linguistics)
Warwick AAB (Psychology with linguistics)
Edinburgh A* AA to AAA (BPS accredited - Psychology and linguistics).
Cardiff A* AA to AAB (Psychology)
York AAA (Psychology subsid Linguistics)

Received York offer last week of ABB - good news
Received offer of Warwick ABB good news

Doing TSA for Oxford

Obviously not expecting offer from Oxford due to TSA and hopefully interview yet.

Have been told Edinburgh don't do offers until next year Jan?

So that is only Cardiff outstanding to send out an offer.

DD now also decided to do EPQ (which is not on UCAS application but she decided to do it anyway).

Continuing good luck to everyone and can't remember who posted it but thanks to person who posted form in case they are ill or delayed on TSA day. Hope it won't happen but it kind of helps to know what to do in the event of herds of sheep/covid making it difficult!😁

My grandson has just received an offer from Durham for Anthropology and Archaeology of BBC. Clearly contextual as the standard offer is supposed to be AAB. He is delighted - it would probably be his first choice…

Congrats to you and grandson

And to your daughter and you too! It’s such a reassurance to have an offer at this stage. It’s well over 50 years since I applied to university and I cannot remember anything about the offers coming in, except for the two who effectively made me the ‘unconditional’ offer of EE immediately after my interview/audition. It was much more common then.

Yes, I understand.
It is a testing time. Just trying to pace myself here.
Yes, it is good to have offers. Just trying to stay a calm house at least until after the excitment of Thinking Skills Assessment next week Tuesday.
Then on to the next stage of course, but compared to run up to application process, even the A level exams themselves seem like a lesser hurdle!

Firefox1066 · 26/10/2022 16:26

Wonderful to continue to see offers coming in. We are at the complete other end of the spectrum here! Haven’t heard a dickie bird yet. I am a naturally calm person as is DS so we are not overly worried, just going to let the process do it’s thing!

We should hear from the Oxford College he applied to (Christchurch) in the next few days with an acknowledgment and where to submit written work to

Codfishermen · 26/10/2022 16:51

perseverance Edinburgh are always very late to offer, you may not hear until as late as May

Aurea · 26/10/2022 16:54

Another one not expecting to hear for some time. All Scottish unis apart from Cambridge. Will have to learn to be patient, I guess.

Congrats on all the offers coming through - very heart-warming. 😊

juicy0 · 26/10/2022 17:15

Has anyone else DC applied to Cambridge and submitted examples of written work? DS got an email confirming receipt of the AAIF but didn't get an email confirmation of the AADF form but says he definitely completed it and he's sure it went through with his attachments.
As he hasn't received confirmation should he resend it? Without it his application is invalid.

multivac · 26/10/2022 17:39

Ooh! Second offer in - Warwick, A star A star A (comp sci - standard offer). With that and three As from York, he is feeling really chuffed now!

Thanks Cod. That really helps. Trying to work to some kind of emotional timetable as it were!

Ok Well done to you both.
Hoping that goes well.

Lovely. Congrats. Good to hear back.

OnePlusOneEquals · 26/10/2022 18:42

Interviews now for York and Lancaster, good so far for us. Just the PAT next week and hopefully a call up for an interview after that.

HairyMaclary · 26/10/2022 19:14

Applications gone in with all additional forms, extenuating circumstances, disability etc and a confidence building low offer of ABB received from Southampton.

I hadn’t realised Scottish unis offered so late, ideally DS needs to firm asap so that we can get the DSA stuff in place.

HoneyMobster · 26/10/2022 19:33

Offer from Exeter - A star A A 😊

goodbyestranger · 26/10/2022 19:52

HoneyMobster that's a ridiculously high offer from Exeter. It has form for silly offers for Oxbridge likelies.

goodbyestranger · 26/10/2022 19:53

Used to be our local uni.
