Not sure if there is already a thread on this? My son is hoping to apply to Cambridge for Computer Science for October 2023 start.

Anyone else's offspring prepping for the TMUA on Tues? Or any last-minute tips from previous candidates? Our boy has worked through all the past papers and is now doing sample papers; not quite getting the results he would want (he is within the boundaries for a potential comp sci offer, but at the bottom end) - but also, hasn't been putting choices for the questions he couldn't do, as he wanted to go through the worked answers, so potentially that could bump him up a bit, I guess...

Hi Multivac

My son is also preparing for the TMUA for comp sci on Tuesday.

He's doing ok in his prep, but he's having to teach himself a couple of areas of maths which aren't fully covered under the Scottish maths curriculum. His school have explained this on the extenuating circumstances form although this may be not be considered. He's anticipating receiving around 6-6.5 which may not be enough for an offer. He's applying with some top grades (early maths exams) in hand though which might help his case.

We're just hoping for an interview......🤞

Good luck to your son!

My ds is also sitting the TMUA exam on Tuesday, but is spending all of today helping out at a big eco conference taking place at his school! He did at least do some past papers at the weekend though. Good luck to all on the day.

redtulip12 · 17/10/2022 16:34

Good luck to all sitting the TMUA.
My Dd has the TSA exam in November- not sure if she is actually doing any preparation for it - she is very independent and gets on with it all herself! Hopefully she is doing something!!

balzamico · 17/10/2022 19:21

Dd now has offers from Bristol and Manchester (History) phew!

Excellent news 🙂

princesdando · 17/10/2022 20:16

Congrats to all those with offers already. DS received Manchester offer today. So pleased!

juicy0 · 17/10/2022 20:18

Great news @princesdando @balzamico

HoneyMobster · 17/10/2022 21:53

Nottingham offer for DS tonight (Politics and Economics). 😊

Lostinabba · 17/10/2022 22:16

We didn't realise you could offers this early. DD had an offer from Mamchester today. Is there a deadline by which you have to reply? Also can they change their mind about an choice now?

Lostinabba · 17/10/2022 22:17

Apologies for the typos!

juicy0 · 17/10/2022 22:19

Do many unis make unconditional offers now? DD had one three years ago but not sure how common they are now

EmmaStone · 17/10/2022 22:49

Congrats to all the offers, definitely a relief to know you're wanted!

You can’t change your mind once you’ve chosen your five

Oh hang on. Maybe you can..

I would check it with UCAS they have FAQs quite a long list of FAQs on their website it should be in there. I know you can add choices after the deadline. It is just that schools etc would prefer you didn't as it is more work for them!

Karmacat · 18/10/2022 09:06

Offers from Exeter and Nottingham for us so far, phew. Looks like the rest will be much later, except Cambridge which we hope to hear December. It's a very drawn out process...

bettbburg · 18/10/2022 09:23

Well done on all the offers.

MajorityofThree · 18/10/2022 09:47

Great to see the offers are starting to come in. Well done to everyone. I've promised DS I won't keep asking if he's heard anything but heavens it's hard!

Isn't it just, where has he applied to ?

TrussSucks · 18/10/2022 10:36

Joining the thread as DD sent her form off a week ago. We went to the open day and her head was turned by the grandeur of Christ Church at O as we exited Pembroke across the road despite it not being on her shortlist so that's where she's applied to. Just received an offer from Bristol today which is her favourite (O may be her real fav but she's being realistic about getting in). Exciting times.

perseverence · 18/10/2022 10:52

Yes well done everyone.
Teachers strike again today here. Groan. Yes I know they deserve more pay but it is another challenge...

DeadDonkey · 18/10/2022 11:46

First offer in from Manchester last night AAA for PPE. DS pleased as this is his second choice - he thinks...

Lostinabba · 18/10/2022 12:39

Had some clarification from careers today. So can only change a choice within 14 days and if you haven't had an offer. You can add others in up to deadline.
@DeadDonkey DD offer is AAA from Manchester for PPE, she's struggling to decide other choices.....
