Thought I would start a new thread as its likely to fill up quick now.

So here we are after many months of applications, assessments and interviews. The wait is finally over for those with DC who have applied to Oxford. Those with Cambridge applicants have another 2 weeks to wait until the 25th Jan (bummer!!)

You have all been a lovely bunch to share this journey with and I wish your dc nothing but the BEST OF LUCK for tomorrow (and the 25th). Flowers

@Eightytwenty

Good luck everyone. Hope you all sleep.

Did anyone hear if they’d been winter pooled? I thought some might have had second interviews but don’t remember hearing anyone mention it.

I have read that last year only around 40 students had another interview following the winter pool so a tiny minority. Even if pooled it would be very very unlikely they would know until tomorrow.

@PermanentTemporary Bloody hell that is high grades, what would the standard C offer be? DD would be A A A but she will still need A A B for Bath so just the one grade below.

Standard C offer for Compsci would be AAA. I think Manchester are acknowledging the particularly hefty pressure on places this year given 2 unexpectedly large cohorts in a row. Also perhaps just saying to ds to make them his firm offer or don't bother. Also just the rabid competitiveness of Compsci degrees. Hence why I think ds won't get a C offer.

Just dropping in to wish the very best of luck to those waiting for news tomorrow. I've been following your stories and have everything crossed for your DC 🤞

pantjog · 24/01/2022 21:46

Wishing you all the best of luck for your dc tomorrow.

Stillcrikey · 24/01/2022 23:07

All the best for tomorrow. I was here this time last year and unfortunately DS got ‘redirected’. He is having a ball at Bristol and it all feels like a world away. There are many paths to throw futures and I’m sure whatever happens tomorrow your young people will shine. They’re all seriously talented to have got this far.
Wishing you all the best.

Cambridge seemed far more brutal than Oxford to me in the way they go about admissions, and I really feel for all of you waiting to hear tomorrow's news. Good luck to everyone.

ealingwestmum · 25/01/2022 05:04

Having my morning coffee stead of the swim run, thinking of you all waiting today and rooting for all the DC, especially your DD Tango 🍀

Thank you for keeping the thread together, and yes Honey, I have a particular tune lined up for the car journey that's been in my head all night, courtesy of you Grin

PermanentTemporary · 25/01/2022 05:28

Awake early, to no point whatsoever... I can hear ds is awake too. It's going to seem such a waste of energy once we know!

My darling boy. One of those moments where you look back. We lost my dh/ds's dad almost exactly 4 years ago. I wish he were here to make coffee and dispense hugs. He wouldn't have slept much either.

doubleshotcappuccino · 25/01/2022 05:39

@PermanentTemporary sorry you didn't sleep much. Good luck for today - you are so right .. this is a day we will look back on. They all did well to get this far x

doubleshotcappuccino · 25/01/2022 05:41

@ealingwestmum I'm on my second and final cup! Also briefing other DCs not to keep asking about the elephant in the room today !

OxanaVorontsova · 25/01/2022 06:01

Eeek here we are! Very best of luck to everyone BrewCakeFlowersGin

ProggyMat · 25/01/2022 06:36

Good luck everyone! 🍀

Panicmode1 · 25/01/2022 06:50

Been awake since 4 😴

Good luck today everyone - and a big thank you to everyone for your company and support on this journey. Whichever way the chips fall (or the dart lands 😉, to use my earlier analogy), our DCs should be holding their heads high.

TangoWhiskyAlphaTango · 25/01/2022 06:55

@PermanentTemporary Oh my Sad I wish your wonderful DS all the very best today Flowers

I was awake at 5am too had a bloody dream DD had the email but refused to open it so I was shouting at her. She opened it and had been pooled to an all ladies college which we were so happy about but then realised she had not at all they were just trying to flog her something.

Christ its going to be a long morning!
