Thought I would start a new thread as its likely to fill up quick now.

So here we are after many months of applications, assessments and interviews. The wait is finally over for those with DC who have applied to Oxford. Those with Cambridge applicants have another 2 weeks to wait until the 25th Jan (bummer!!)

You have all been a lovely bunch to share this journey with and I wish your dc nothing but the BEST OF LUCK for tomorrow (and the 25th). Flowers

Best of luck to everyone else waiting. The pressure is getting to DS now. I told him whatever happens we are really proud of him.

@Juja

Before tomorrow I wanted to add my thanks to *@TangoWhiskyAlphaTango* for these threads - and to all other posters. It's been great to have a safe space to be able to talk about this stuff as most friends understandably find it hard to relate to. It is very much a lived experience.... yes different fo us all but we all share the wish to support our children through this stage... whatever the outcome is.

All the very best to all those awaiting their results tomorrow from C. I hope mothers and DC get some sleep...

I definitely agree with that, thank you @TangoWhiskyAlphaTango. I have learnt so much from this thread as I have no previous experience of the Oxbridge process. DD is probably fed up of all the questions I have asked her as a result. Absolutely no idea what tomorrow will bring but what will be, will be . Hope results come out early rather than later in the day and hopefully at the same time for all colleges. DD will be in STEP class first with other C hopefuls, hope they support each other.

Good luck to everyone for tomorrow.

PermanentTemporary · 24/01/2022 12:57

Hoping everything comes out by 930 or so. A friend told me her son's C response didn't arrive till 430 pm last year!

Tbh I'm going to be pretty glad it's over either way. Good news about the care they show for each other's feelings, I think ds's bunch are the same.

Gardenia22 · 24/01/2022 16:09

I'd like to add my thanks to @TangoWhiskyAlphaTango for these threads. I've found them very helpful and reassuring - this whole process is new to me.
Good luck to everyone tomorrow morning Smile and we should be proud of our DC whatever the outcome!

HoneyMobster · 24/01/2022 16:22

@TangoWhiskyAlphaTango - a big thank you from me as well. You've done great service to our virtual community.

Panicmode1 · 24/01/2022 18:04

Yes, thank you @TangoWhiskyAlphaTango for keeping us all going..

Sleep well everyone Wink

TangoWhiskyAlphaTango · 24/01/2022 18:26

I am taking a virtual bow Grin

Ah you lot have been so lovely to a Uni beginner like me. It has been a long road since my first post in March last year and nearly 5k posts with us discussing our little applicants.

DD is distracting herself with a zoom meeting as she is College Student Governor (in reality she has her cam off and is eating her tea). I think I will struggle to sleep tonight but looking forward to knowing the outcome one way or the other. DD boyfriend is stopping over on his way back to Uni tomorrow so that will cheer her up tomorrow.

GOOD LUCK TO ONE AND ALL and do let us all know your dc have got on Flowers and a very large Wine for tonight xxxxxxxxx

Just stepping out of the background to wish everyone a "Happy Moving On Day" tomorrow!

Good luck!

4.30?! I won't have any nails or hair left by then!!

I just said to DS that whatever happens, I think we should celebrate tomorrow - whether it is C or Imperial - but he said "I certainly won't be celebrating; I'll be devastated".....oh dear.

There will definitely be Wine either way!

HoneyMobster · 24/01/2022 19:30

I now have 'Moving on up' by M People in my head. Thanks for the ear worm people 😂

TangoWhiskyAlphaTango · 24/01/2022 19:44

@Panicmode1 Oh dear at least he's honest! Dd has been ok up until now she's decided that she really really wants to go (her and thousands of others sadly). I think there will be tears either way tomorrow in true DD drama queen style but I'll let her be dramatic all she likes tomorrow 😬

Looking forward to “moving on day” tomorrow. Really hoping for an early morning email
Ah it’s been such a long wait!! Dd already has a Bristol offer so I’m hoping if it’s a no tomorrow she won’t be too devastated.
Dd is very nervous about tomorrow so we are celebrating the journey tonight with pizza, ice cream and some Netflix.

Am I the only one thinking of tomorrow as just one step in the process? DC still have to get those grades - which is certainly not a given in my family (last time or (if relevant) this).

CurlyhairedAssassin · 24/01/2022 20:24

Yes, I agree, I think those experiencing the biggest pressures are those who get an offer tomorrow and HAVE to get those grades. I can't even imagine what it must feel like to have that offer in the bag, but not have the place in the bag.

Panicmode1 · 24/01/2022 20:48

Of course it's only another step, but that's the same for any conditional offer, surely?!

PermanentTemporary · 24/01/2022 20:59

If ds doesn't get a C offer, his firm one will likely be Manchester with an offer depending on 3 A*. It won't really be a pressure drop unfortunately.

Storminamu · 24/01/2022 21:00

A while back there was someone on an Oxbridge thread whose son got an offer. There was lots of rejoicing, which she later regretted, as the son didn't make the offer. He also didn't make his insurance offer, so had to find a course in clearing. She came onto a later Oxbridge thread and advised not telling too many people and not celebrating too much, when the offer is received.

ACloseMatch · 24/01/2022 21:01

I just had a quick look and very few get interviewed from the pool - most just get an offer (or not) with the rest of the offers.

Storminamu · 24/01/2022 21:05

Last time round, I half expected DC to get an offer, and my main concern throughout was a particular A'level, which was the least favoured A'level. And that was what caused the problem, though DC is adamant that if the exams had actually happened (Covid) they would have got the grade they needed. We'll never know.

CurlyhairedAssassin · 24/01/2022 21:08

OOh that must have been traumatic. Wonder what his insurance offer was like?
Storminamu · 24/01/2022 21:10

She didn't say. It had clearly been traumatic!

HoneyMobster · 24/01/2022 21:11

Yes, some of those Cambridge offers are eye watering. Oxford ones do tend to be more achievable.
