That’s great @blametheparents. Must be a relief all round to have that in the bag!

bigTillyMint · 15/08/2021 09:44

Congratulations @blametheparents!

Zandathepanda · 15/08/2021 11:08

blame well done!
How’s everyone’s DCs 2nd jabs coming on? Dd had hers Friday and stayed at a friends house which sounded ‘interesting’ as she couldn’t sleep until 5.30am and was a bit delirious saying some very odd things. She hadn’t been drinking as I said don’t for 48hours. I expect she had a high temp but of course they didn’t have a thermometer, or anything other than the paracetamol and nurofen - she’s taken them and feeling much better.

blametheparents · 15/08/2021 13:30

@Zandathepanda - Hope she’s feeling better now. But strange! Was that Pfizer? Any symptoms after her first vaccination?
DS has Moderna and isn’t due his second until early October.

Zandathepanda · 15/08/2021 14:51

Nothing after first. I am on the Year12 going into Year13 thread and I think it was on there that someone mentioned their child couldn’t sleep after it either. Just thought I would mention if anyone else’s child has got something important the next day. She’s fine now just a bit of swelling at the injection site.

Zandathepanda · 15/08/2021 14:52

Yes it was Pfizer

icanbewhatiwant · 15/08/2021 15:28

Ds1 had had a text from his university gp surgery saying he could book. So he wanted one closer as he's home for the summer, he couldn't find the walk in vaccine centre yesterday, he wouldn't ask anyone, it was a 12 mile drive to a place he doesn't really know. Anyway...he came home, I found out exactly where it was by asking on a local Facebook page, he went back today and they said he's 2 days before the 8 weeks so they wouldn't do it. It made me snigger to myself as he's always so cross about everything. He's wasted fuel now 😂
But that is a bit silly...2 days.

Zandathepanda · 15/08/2021 17:16

Dd had hers done at 7 weeks (they allowed it at the end instead of wasting a dose) but her friend had to put up with being told at 5.00am the morning after that a serious Dd was ‘going to fold you up and put you in my pocket’ (?!?!!!) so maybe 8 weeks is better to avoid hallucinations! She was fine after she eventually got to sleep apparently.

Benjispruce5 · 15/08/2021 20:21

DD1 hoping to get second jab this week at a walk-in and I’ll take DD2 too as she’s 17.5 hoping they’ll give her the first jab too.

Zandathepanda · 15/08/2021 20:34

Benjilook at your local walk-in centre list as it will say if they are doing 16+ (some are, some aren’t) and it will save a wasted journey. Round me it’s either 16+, 18+ or one at 17yrs 9 months.

bigTillyMint · 16/08/2021 12:29

DD is booked in for her second next week. Hope she’s OK as she’s plodding on with her diss!
DS had his a couple of days later so I expect similar for him?

Benjispruce5 · 16/08/2021 14:03

I’ve got DD2 in next week for her first jab by ringing GP. They have a clinic on but hadn’t contact me.

VanCleefArpels · 17/08/2021 13:00

DD had to put back 2nd jab as she has just had Covid grrrr. However will be fully done before going back which is the main thing. Her housemate had a rough time with 2nd jab, this seems quite common with Pfizer from what I’ve heard

Zandathepanda · 17/08/2021 13:09

Van that’s interesting about 2nd jab. Dd still has a headache when she moves her head but is much better today so 3 days of feeling a bit rough and a night of weird hallucinations after no sleep. Better than covid! She has done 2 negative lateral flows.
She was surrounded by positive people at Uni but always tested negative with pcr and lft.

DrMadelineMaxwell · 17/08/2021 13:24

Dds uni is in England and we are not which has complicated matters as she chose not to register with a gp there. But she was able to have her first jab at whit when she came home for a week and we brought forward her 2nd to a couple of weeks ago. No side effects after either apart from a sleep arm and feeling tired.

Dd2 has just finished y11 and has her one and only jab last week..also zero side effects. She is v happy as she has been able to land a casual job in the local residential library in their restaurant. They are proud to pay the living wage so she will earn £9.50 an hour at the age of 17. And the casual nature hopefully means she can stay on their books and work for them in the holidays if she goes to uni too, which she is intending to do.

Dd1 is staying on campus for her final year and has another lovely room in the same cul de sac she has lived in for the past 2. Not everyone's choice but it suits her.

Dd1 has applied for.various things in her uni town and heard nothing. And her holiday casual job hasn't wanted her back due to covid.

bigTillyMint · 17/08/2021 13:51

DS has booked an appointment to have his on Thursday. I’m not mentioning possible side effects!

However we all spent ages looking for his DBS certificate this morning (as he has applied to do some voluntary tutoring) I think he must have taken it to Durham which means it will prob never be seen again. However he had taken pics on his phone so maybe that will do?

icanbewhatiwant · 17/08/2021 21:59

@VanCleefArpels dh had pfizer and felt quite poorly after second dose. I did read if you get side effects it's usually worse after second Pfizer but after the first with AZ. I felt a bit off after both AZ's so wasn't quite true for me.

Benjispruce5 · 18/08/2021 15:32

Just wait outside vaccination centre for DD to have her second . It’s 8 weeks today so I’m hoping they’ll give her it.

Benjispruce5 · 18/08/2021 15:57

It’s done. Phew.

Zandathepanda · 18/08/2021 19:05

It’s a relief isn’t it!? I would give her paracetamol as soon as to stop any headaches.

Benjispruce5 · 18/08/2021 22:41

Yes I’ve told her that. She’s still ok but I’ve left some by her bed with a big glass of water just in case.

Benjispruce5 · 19/08/2021 09:30

DD has a bit of a sore arm but otherwise fine still.

bigTillyMint · 19/08/2021 17:42

DS has just had his - OK atm!

Ragwort · 19/08/2021 17:53

My DS had his second vaccine today ... no side effects so far.

Benjispruce5 · 19/08/2021 18:12

Still nothing more than a sore arm though that is quite sore now.
