Previous thread - Obvs the end of term is looming sooner for some than for others? I guess the Oxbridge posse will finish by the end of November or just into December?

That's a very interesting article @HoldMyLobster. Thanks for resharing it.

I'll help fill the thread!

DS is coming back on Friday - DHs birthday, and DH is so looking forward to seeing him. They share a love of footy, and just about any sport, really! I am looking forward to seeing him too Smile

DD is working Saturday night, so will be back Sunday or Monday even though they don't officially finish till Friday, like Xenias boys.

NewModelArmyMayhem18 · 10/12/2019 17:48

Bristol has a very late end-of-term date, doesn't it? When did your DD go up @bigTillyMint?

The most chatty DS has been since he's been away is when discussing the football!

Thanks to everyone for helping to fill up the thread.

@NewModelArmyMayhem18, I can't actually remember when her term started! And she went up before the start of term anyway (work, friends, Freshers even though she's a 3rd year....) think it was mid-Sep?

DS and DH chat a lot about footy! DSs team won the 5-a-side. Strapping young lads on the photo he sent Grin

Xenia · 10/12/2019 18:19

yes, Bristol is annoying. Some years we have skied the week before Christmas as soon as schools (private schools) broke up - quite a good week to go if work is not too busy but no chance doing that with a Bristol end date of 20th. One of mine won't leave until his friend leaves either which is fine - I would much rather they loved it all so much they are not rushing back than they cannot stand it and come home early.

Catrescue1971 · 10/12/2019 19:00

Ds is back on Saturday and I'm collecting him - I would do it on Friday night but get drowsy driving at night. Unlike his younger siblings he is tidy and does the dishwasher without me asking, which is wonderful. (He also uses all of the towels and puts them into the washing basket after one use so is far from perfect). It will lovely to have him back.

justasking111 · 10/12/2019 22:25

Spoke to DS tonight he was going to stay for a party one of the flatmates birthdays but because most of them will be gone by 20th they have decided to bring it forward and just have a bit of a do in the flat next Tuesday. That is a relief I was worried about hangovers and catching the right trains the next day. I think they all want to go home now as soon as they can.

MrKlaw · 10/12/2019 22:32

DS finishes at Bath this Friday. I think they’re back on the 6th? But he may stay home an extra week as it’s revision so several flat mates won’t be back yet, and hey - free food!

DrMadelineMaxwell · 11/12/2019 07:23

Dd is def enjoying the free food/ large fridge and pantry we have at home compared to her one fridge shelf and cupboard. Student habits have stuck though. Last night she made a huge wok of chicken stir fry and there are 4 portions of it sitting in the fridge in boxes.

BringOnTheScience · 11/12/2019 08:08

DC1 isn't home until Monday 16th. Big end of first unit assessments this week. Can't wait to grab them in the biggest bear hug. Many work shifts booked in though, so not sure how much we'll actually see of them.

ZandathePanda · 11/12/2019 09:17

Poor Dd has the 3rd/4th cold of the term. She’s so worn down continuously being ill.

A very quick way of filling a thread is mention Oxbridge I have found Wink. Made that mistake as trying to help someone out and possibly backfired.

It to get through a birthday this week and then let Christmas begin. We are allowed to get the tree before Dd is home on Saturday (this is always a task because we need a thin tall one) but are on strict instructions not to decorated the tree until she’s back!

NewModelArmyMayhem18 · 11/12/2019 11:15

DS has a full month off, so not back (unless he chooses to go back early) until the 12th January.

DD is back this afternoonGrin. We haven't seen her for 3.5 months, so I'm looking forward to it. Slight panic this morning, booked taxi didn't arrive to take her to train station. She ended up having to call another firm 30 mins before train and made it with one minute to spare. She'd planned to buy some food at the station, so is lucky there's trolley service onboard the train part way.

Whatagoodidea · 11/12/2019 14:28

Ds2 just messaged that his last exam is done. Now has 2 days until flight home. 1st term complete, hard to believe but very excited to see him again

Whatagoodidea · 11/12/2019 14:30

Hard to find a real tree here but managed it this year. No decorating allowed until DS2 arrives

ZandathePanda · 11/12/2019 14:43

I think Dd would not be amused

DD's stocking replacement is a Harry Potter shopping bag.

@ZandathePanda ooh you are naughty Grin Wink

Ginfordinner · 11/12/2019 17:33

In other news DD is having a Christmas dinner this evening with half of her flat and half of another flat - essentially next year's house share.
