Previous thread - Obvs the end of term is looming sooner for some than for others? I guess the Oxbridge posse will finish by the end of November or just into December?

Shimy, finding it amusing how many of the DS are so similar. The state of our bathroom has vastly improved since DS's departure. Toothpaste lids left off and blobs in the sink being two of his ablution cardinal sins! The amount of shower gel we get through has gone down markedly too.

I am expecting full reversion to type. Will be pleasantly surprised if there are any signs of improvement.

Dd has revision to do so i will be happy to do most things for her. She's been very independent all term so I will look forward to clucking round her a bit

Sounds similar to my DD. She has had some exams, but has some big exams in January.

Currently our fridge is emptier, the house is tidy, and we have hardly any rubbish in the dustbin (DD has allergies and uses loads of tissues)

Shimy · 09/12/2019 17:11

@New, the bathroom has been nice since they went away hasn’t it? Sometimes I just stand back and gaze at its beauty Grin, everything clean and in its place. Makes me think about buying candles and nice smelling things. Everything will be back to ‘normal’ from Saturday Hmm.

justasking111 · 09/12/2019 17:16

Oh I had forgotten the bathroom and all the missing towels Grin

justasking111 · 09/12/2019 17:17

Oh and our fridge which has been almost empty for weeks now, will be stuffed to the gills again.

Alicatz66 · 09/12/2019 18:33

Picking DS up from Nottingham on Saturday .... we moved house last week so he's coming home to a different bedroom !!
At the old house me and DP had an en-suite ... we haven't here ... so DS had better watch his step with the soaking wet floors and general mess ! I need to go food shopping too !

bigTillyMint · 09/12/2019 18:35

@justasking111, IMHE, they go back to doing all the same annoying stuff....
The coming in at all hours is the worst for me as I'm a light sleeper after years of worry when they were teens (not about them coming in late - other stuff!) Confused

bigTillyMint · 09/12/2019 18:36

Can I ask, what are you stuffing your fridges with? I need inspiration!

Trewser · 09/12/2019 18:42

Hummus
Avocados
Mozzarella
Packs of chopped fresh fruit
Bol veggie pots
Beer
Gin
Cereal

When DD was home a week ago, she had lost weight from all the walking and extra sports she’s been playing plus lack of snacking due to being catered. She didn’t need to lose weight but says she’s feeling healthier despite the drinking.Certainly loving hitting the gym. When she was home her smaller room was a mess in 24 hrs but she was living out of her case. She did seem more reasonable though and less opinionated possibly because she gets to discuss and debate lots at uni so was glad of the rest. I think the best thing is to expect no change.

Benjispruce · 09/12/2019 19:05

Oh and she loved eating avocado and eggs. Not available often in the restaurant.

simbobs · 09/12/2019 19:34

I love to see my DC but find catering for them very stressful these days. One never communicates their plans far enough ahead to allow efficient meal planning, and we end up with pots of leftovers, the other is vegan... We are committed omnivores and sometimes lack inspiration for what to feed her.

justasking111 · 09/12/2019 19:45

DS will be working at the pub, had no interest in resitting his driving test, so you will find me half asleep outside the pub at unsocial hours waiting for him to come out. OH being canny gives him the lift there so muggins has to do the return trip.

As for fridge food in the past, olives, hummus, a fresh pizza, lots of cheese, he also loves those disgusting microwave burger type things at stupid O clock. Noodles, sausage rolls from our local butcher. Chilled desserts for that sweet tooth. Of course being at uni. his tastes may have changed.

We also have a goodie cupboard the adult children he and the grand children raid. That contains a mixed bag, crisps, crackers, jaffa cakes, various biscuits at different times. Since he went to uni. it has been a shadow of its former self.

Shimy · 09/12/2019 19:53

Billytint Yogurt, fruit, lentils , brioche bread.

Shimy · 09/12/2019 19:54

I beg your pardon, BigTilly.

bigTillyMint · 09/12/2019 20:03

@Trewser, beer and gin already in the cupboard Grin

Yours all sound healthy eaters/veggie! DH and I have eaten mainly veggie since Sept, but DS not so bothered, though DD likes avocado and hummus.

Aha, sausage rolls and crisps Grin

bigTillyMint · 09/12/2019 20:08

@Shimy, Billytint Grin

Trewser · 09/12/2019 20:15

I forgot cheese. All the cheese.

bigTillyMint · 09/12/2019 20:16

I have cheese Wink

Benjispruce · 09/12/2019 20:16

Yes cheese, peanut butter and coffee.

bigTillyMint · 09/12/2019 20:21

Peanut butter is a staple here!

NewModelArmyMayhem18 · 09/12/2019 20:26

Just seen this 12 types of fresher quiz for a bit of fun - only thing is, DS doesn't fall into any of the categories!

OP posts:
Shimy · 09/12/2019 20:27

@bigtilly glad it made you laugh. No idea who billytint is but it’s a vacant username for any takers Grin.

Catrescue1971 · 09/12/2019 20:40

I did a supermarket shop with ds when he came home during the strike. His decision on whether to buy food depended on whether it was spicy, could be microwaved or not / whether you could add hot water. He bought 5 different curry ready meals and various pot noodles, mainly Bombay Bad Boy flavour. I got heart burn just looking at the trolley. So my prediction is that he will have gone off curry by now and will probably enjoy plain meat and 2 veg.

bigTillyMint · 09/12/2019 20:52

@NewModelArmyMayhem18, my DD and DS dont fit any of those descriptions, especially not the ones for their subjects!

And in the International student one it says "buying bottles of Canada Goose" surely they mean Grey Goose vodka? A Canada Goose is a posh Norfie Grin
