@Fere although dc1 can’t wait to leave!! And rightly so - I hope all my dc go away and experience living ‘up country’ as it is a different way of life here.

@PhannyMcNee Bristol, York or Manchester would be what he will enjoy. We live on the outskirts of London and kids were happy to experience much smaller places to live in. DS said - no point going some place like Leeds, it's likely to be another city like London but smaller.

@Mustbetimeforachange that sounds like a useful idea from the uni. I wish we got something like that. Ds still thinks it too early to pack! I seem to be doing all in my head and hope that he actually makes a start. I realised yesterday that I hadn't thought to make him a hair appointment before he goes and it is too late now. Oh, well...

Dd went off to Liverpool on Sunday. This is proving to be the longest week of my life I miss her so badly

Is that because he wouldn't choose to socialise with the opposite sex, or because you/he would assume that they wouldn't choose to socialise with the opposite sex? Sadly, you might be right if the latter. Although our three (2, 1F) have always had friends of the other variety, so to speak, it always ars me sad to read things like, My DD's reception class has 20 boys and 6 girls in it, so her pool of potential friends is very restricted ...

It's really weird, isn't it? I've just had a very odd Tesco experience, I wandered around not knowing what to buy anymore

It's a huge period of adjustment. Can you get something in the calendar so you can visit? We're going in November ,and that doesn't seem so long really and then there's Xmas and they'll be home for a month.

@mutley1 snap! My DS went off to Liverpool on Saturday, I've not heard from him since (I'm tiring between feeling happy he's obviously busy and occupied and annoyed that he hasn't been considerate enough to drop me an 'I'm fine' message)

It's been a long week I miss him terribly. It's such a great and fun city though!

DD failed her driving test today:( A bit gutted for her as this follows not getting required grades/not getting accommodation she wanted... a small success would have been nice! She almost passed apparently and can take test again in Christmas hols.

@Jo4Laurie sorry to hear that. Hopefully it will be second time lucky. She may feel more relaxed during the Christmas hols?

No I haven’t looked either Tilly , just what DD has told me. She’s found maintenance loan amounts but not how to pay accommodation or whether it’s once a term or monthly.

Surely they will let us know when they have processed their acceptances?

DD has transferred her HSBC £100 into her current account already! Updated SFE with her HSBC details today too. She just needs to organise her fancy dress costumes for Freshers now.

DS hasnt even given a thought to any fancy dress costumes - perhaps I'd better suggest it....

Dd says there's about 4 fancy dress events in Freshers week. I've said we'll work out something she can wear for each which looks normal if no one else bothers.

It’s an extra stress they could do without in my opinion. One fancy dress event maybe but 3!?
