bizzey · 12/06/2019 08:18

I cant even do strike outs !°

bizzey · 12/06/2019 08:23

NewModelArmy my ds is definitely " the tortoise who wins the race" !
Slow , methodical and precise and gets good results .
Unfortunately this method does not fit in with the EDEXEL exams !🤣🤣

NewModelArmyMayhem18 · 12/06/2019 08:27

bizzey cut and paste this, then use double 'square' brackets to 'top and tail' the link: www.thegymgroup.com/6weeksfree six week gym freebie offer for 16-18 year olds ]].

Oops that didn't quite go to plan, as I shouldn't have left that rogue ']]' at the end of the link. Delete that before wrapping the link in and (with no spaces).

Last double exam today. Then four more singles (two this week, two next week). He’s one of the last in his friend group to finish. And three days after his exams he’s off across Europe with his friends for three weeks. First independent trip so I hope he lets his hair down but also not too much :) he’s still only 17 so legally can’t drink in many places. Won’t turn 18 until after results day so he’s a young’un for the year

ifonly4 · 12/06/2019 10:53

MrKlaw, my DD is also another young one. She's flying out to see a friend abroad within 24 hours of finishing her last exam (assuming the protesters at Heathrow are prevented from letting the drones free!).

error (waves) and NewModel - hope you can relax a little now your DC have finished.

Just a warning to anyone who has a child sitting maths this morning. My very high achieving maths ds came out saying it was awful. He said most people came out crying. He does not find maths challenging at all (he is also taking FM) so I would imagine if he found it bad, it was hell for most.

bizzey · 12/06/2019 11:45

Wiifitmamma edexel ?

Shimy · 12/06/2019 11:52

DS just called re Edexel Maths this morning. His words “It was VERY bad”. Left loads unanswered just couldn’t do it and doesn’t do further Maths.
I think at this point I’m going to start looking into possible retakes locally. Really upset for my boy.

sluj · 12/06/2019 11:57

My DS said it was awful, Twitter is buzzing with despondency over Edexcel maths. That's two rotten papers Shock

Shimy · 12/06/2019 12:02

SLUJ it’s awful isn’t it? DS was predicted a B in Maths but it looks like we might be looking at an E or U even, no matter how they shift the grade boundaries.

fiftiesmum · 12/06/2019 12:06

If two papers are that difficult Edexcel may well have to do some massive massaging of ums as cannot have vast numbers of first year students not getting places especially as this is a smaller year group than normal. Paper three may be better

bizzey · 12/06/2019 12:18

I have lost my sense of normality.
Is paper 3 tomorrow?
I could go into his room and look at the timetable ....but just dont want to !!

bizzey · 12/06/2019 12:19

Twitter is sending awful messages

Shimy · 12/06/2019 12:21

Paper 3 for Edexel is on Friday.

Shimy · 12/06/2019 12:22

Which handle are you looking at on twitter Bizzey?

Mustbetimeforachange · 12/06/2019 12:43

DS found Edexcel maths OK but said that anyone who wasn't doing FM found it very difficult. I think they should be generous this year as this is the first year of the new exams!

ProlificLurker · 12/06/2019 12:52

My DS just home from edexcel maths and devastated. Predicted A with possibility of A* but says he’d be happy with C at this stage. His friends were in car with us and felt same way and they are normally much higher achievers than him.

Feel so bad for them all.

He’s dreading Statistics and Mechanics on Friday’s paper now.

5LeafClover · 12/06/2019 13:08

We were hoping that the paper would be better but not so. What I can't understand is why it's so different to the sample papers.

bizzey · 12/06/2019 13:11

Sneaked in to his room.
Yeah tomorrow is a no alarm day at 6.30 !
Ds1 and ds2 have a lie in .
(And me !!)

Wiifitmama · 12/06/2019 13:29

Ds is home now so spoke to him in more detail. Yes, it was EDEXCEL.

He says he finished and is not worried about it. However, he said anyone who does not take FM and is not a real high flyer at maths, would have found it hellish. Many many of the students at his college were crying and being consoled by teachers outside the room afterwards.

He has a FM paper tomorrow.

LosingHerMissMarbles · 12/06/2019 13:47

Sounds like Edexcel are up to their tricks again. Same thing happened a few years ago. My DS missed his predicted grade as a result (only by 1ums) but uni were obviously aware and he got his place, so take heart from that. He was and is still disappointed though as he has always felt that that result is not an accurate reflection of his ability in maths. He's flying now at uni so it didn't hold him back.
Yesterday's Edexcel GCSE paper was foul too. DS2 is a good mathematician but he felt cheated as there were a couple of questions he couldn't answer (he can't find the content in the syllabus either). Friends of his doing Add Maths and real high fliers in maths said they found it really hard.
I just don't get why the exam boards feel they have to destroy these kids. They're under enough pressure as it is.

bizzey · 12/06/2019 14:00

LosingHerMis
I said the same in an earlier post about how to demoralize pupils.

5LeafClover · 12/06/2019 14:19

anyone who does not take FM and is not a real high flyer at maths, would have found it hellish. Many many of the students... were crying Exactly what I heard. Seems very unfair.
