Welcome all- old and new- this is our fifty-something Healthy Eating thread, where we chat, support each other's ascent into vibrant slinkiness full of bright eyes and glorious glowing skin etc etc...

Post as much as you can, and you'll be sure to catch the gossip and the gamut of human emotion that make up the Shiney threads. They have grown from one woman's noble quest to ditch curly-wurlies for breakfast into a veritable Mumsnet phenomenon, which has actually seen some of us lose rather a lot of weight and get much healthier...

Not me- I am still trying to get there, and have a permanent cold, but hey, let's not split hairs: there are other regulars who are a positive inspiration! So jump in and find us again, or join us anew, and follow whatever approach suits you.

well have caught up but my knackered brain can't remember what I've caught up on other than:

BOF - I can't stop laughing! I agree she must have though you said sat! So glad it ended well!

LIzzy - well done on a good day. That's fab.

Bella Bella Bella - root canal is truly the devils work (and even worse that you actually have to pay to be put through torture). Time to break open the nurofen plus. I hope you feel better t/m.

Shiney - email sounds perfect. I hope he realises what a prize idiot he's been.

welcome lovebeingamummy - and at tactless idiot (I have learnt never to say 'are you pregnant' unless someone is nine months gone and has told me 3 times! We'll get you sorted no problem.

Norma and Iggi - sorry to hear about meany DH's being PITA's.

So today I think I am a size 11 Well I am fitting in some size 10's but there is a little extra flesh in places! It's so weird - I haven't lost any more weight so I can't figure out what's going on (it's certainly not exercise). Having said that I did a half hour walk to DS's school this morning...do you think it can work in one day????

jetcat · 24/03/2010 20:14

trills - it feels really great Like sazz, i find myself running sometimes where as before even walking would be a struggle. Haven't quite plucked up the courage for a proper run yet, but i have plenty of 'races' with mini and junior It feels so lovely racing round the playground with them - and to go on things with mini without worrying that i would break them feels amazing!

Speaking of mini, i can actually carry her now, as even when i have got hold of her, i still dont weigh as much as i did on my own

I go up the stairs and not the lift - even 4 flights doesnt get me as out of breath as i used to walking to the lift

ALl in all (i could go on) it does feel really good, and i feel so much healthier. It is my weigh in on Friday, and i am hoping beyond belief that i have lost something, as i def am smaller and fitter - i just need the scales to recognise that

and i swear to god i am never getting that big again. All these years, i had the idea that when i got too big, i would simply request a gastric band (i know, i know) but then last year i found out i wouldnt get funding for it as i have hypothryoidism. And there is no way i could justify the cost of going private. So, what with that and the DVT nightmare, i decided enough was enough.

thanks sazz, am size 18ish bottoms (though i am now wearing size 16 trousers though they are elasticated and size 20-22 top. ALthough, following Lizzys lead, i figure if i actually went and got measured up properly for a decent bra, sizing could change

will fb you now

VinegarTitsOnaDiet · 24/03/2010 20:28

DIB i will go with 7 points as i think the 12 points portion does include chips, or maybe egg?

Bella my mystery shop assignment was to enquire about mobile phone contracts at a well know mobile phone network store, it was quite exciting, i felt like some kind of secret agent when i was in the store

Oooh, I bet you're a much better bra size than you think Jet!

Lizzylou · 24/03/2010 20:42

Jet, if you got measured you would undoubtedly be a different size. I told my Mom, she was amazed. I am not by any stretch lean of back.

Well, all excited from my fab day, DH came home, opened post and is on bloody jury service in April. Right when I am supposed to be on a course and he was scheduled to do drop offs etc.

Ah well, we will sort, am sure.

I am sorry I haven't posted clothes, Jet, they are there waiting, but stuff is in way. Will be sorted soon, promise

TrillianAstra · 24/03/2010 20:54

BoF is now in Classics with her pooouffe thread.

jetcat · 24/03/2010 20:58

oh dont worry about not posting the clothes yetLizzy - you're very kind just to offer. And jury service

I know i should really go and get measured - i cant find anywhere quiet enough to go. I did get measured in evans once - was a 50H and i must be smaller than that now!! this one is a 44E - i know its not the right fit but it looks pretty

meant to say earlier DEM, fingers crossed for tomorrow

Alicetheinvisible · 24/03/2010 21:00

So it should be Trills!

Jet - i found John Lewis lovely, and there is a site called Brastop that sells them cheap, so you could get measured and then find it cheaper online?

Alicetheinvisible · 24/03/2010 21:02

Evening!

Good result BoF!

Very inspiring posts Sazz and Jet.

I've been out of action most of the day with really painful wind. I had it on Sunday too and it was positively excruciating. I managed to keep DS entertained, and the pain had settled down by time he needed to nap on me, but I feel bleh, and have loads to do in the morning as my Dad will be in town for a visit (and DIY assistance) Can't believe its two month since he was here last, this year is truly flying by.

jetcat · 24/03/2010 21:13

shiney

TrillianAstra · 24/03/2010 21:15

Actually he's a dirty your-age letch, which is an imprvement on old bird-man or 'no sex before marriage' man, but still not sure if he passes muster.

TrillianAstra · 24/03/2010 21:21

For later...

MyCatIsABastard · 24/03/2010 21:22

Evening ladies.

BOF - . She so heard sat.

LBAMummy - welcome. I was asked once when the baby was due and it was even worse as I had never been pregnant before and couldn't blame my biffer body on baby weight!

Mitts, your art is fantastic, surely you can sell that, or maybe talk to people about using it for cards or something? You don't need to start again, very few people have talent like yours.

Vinny at new mini. And at mood lighting!

Shiney, if a bloke is only interested in a certain body type then he is a pillock. DH had only ever been out with v fit ski birds before me but it was me he wanted and that was because of my personality (stupid sod), although my tits might have had something to do with it . Please don't put yourself down for someone you have never met and doesn't deserve to meet you anyway. Your e-mail to him was cracking, his response, however - twattish! "definite boner" and "dirty old lech" not sounding good (unless you want him just for a shag, that is).
Bella, poor you. I've got the dentist tomorrow (filling fell out). Even though our dentist is rather lush looking I still hate going.

Alice, I regularly want to run away from home. Just to have some head space!

Sazz, nothing like a bath floater to set your evening off well! (Happens to the best of us - did I ever mention that when I was having DD in the birthing pool the midwife had to fish a v small floater out a large sieve thingy? No? Then I shant )

Trills, I have lost 60lb and the difference in climbing stairs and just walking is huge. My feet don't hurt, I don't get constantly sweaty and puffed and I don't look like a big red sweaty tub of lard. And I have lost about the weight of my 2DC now and I doubt I could pick them up and walk far with them now, let alone upstairs. Still more to go though but I do feel loads better

Diet's still going well. Stuck to my points today (which included a trip with DC to Costa and watching DS & DD scoff a strawberry cupcake) and am still well under for the week. I am determined now to lose at least a stone before I start work in May, and maybe 10lb before we go to Scotland in April.

Alicetheinvisible · 24/03/2010 21:22

Wasting - peppermint tea is supposed to help

Shiney - well? what do we think?
