'flipping' organs!!

Now you're probably thinking I'm off my rocker here but bear with me!

My DS is 3. Since I gave birth, I sometimes get a weird sensation in my chest/stomach which when I bend right over. The only way to describe it is that it feels like an organ or something is 'flipping'. It takes my breath away and I have to stand up carefully. Then I feel it 'flip' back into place. Usually there are no other after effects. Sometimes it leaves me a tiny bit tender in the area for a day or so.

Please, is there anyone else who has this sensation???!!!

I also have this problem, I had a stroke in 2017 and have a plethora of issues since then, one being the flipping/popping feeling under my rib, it has happened on both sides. Intense pain while bending and then once I straighten up I feel a popping or flipping of something under the rib area and the intense pain subsides but the area is very sore afterwards, like it was bruised. I was also diagnosed with an overactive gallbladder and the pain seems to coincide with each other. Would love answers.

I have the same thing, felt like I was going crazy. I try to explain to my husband and he looks at me like I'm nuts!! First started happening a few years ago, I leaned over on chair to pick something up and felt the crazy, weird pain. Just like an organ under my ribs floated forward, when I set back up I can feel it SLOWLY slide back into place. I lean forward to wash my hair in shower....it does it!! Like what the H&!!??

bsschriber · 16/04/2020 00:35

I have the same exact thing. discovered it a few years ago when I leaned over while sitting on my bench from my table. It's on my left side also and feel like an organ is slipping out under my ribs, it was so scary the first time it happened. And I can pretty well count on it happening now when I lean forward like washing my hair in the shower, I'm scared to lean forward. I have thought I've had a hostel hernia for years, had it scoped (before this started happening) and Dr. said no hostel hernia but I have esophageal reflux and gerd. He said to have my Gallbladder checked (remember all this went on BEFORE the floating organ sensation) found out I had gallstones, they removed gallbladder, now this!!! I feel crazy 😭😱😱 I've had soooo many abdominal surgery I've never had a chance to have this checked out! Tysvm....and bless all of you, guess we're not alone 💖

HIATEL HERNIA....NOT HOSTAL LOL!! Grrrrrr

Obvs · 06/06/2020 06:40

I know I'm reviving this thread but did anybody get any answers on this? I think I have the same thing nearly 2 years after a c-section. It's scared me a bit

Sarabooca · 09/06/2020 07:00

Hello,
I have not had children, and have this same problem. I am tall and relatively slim, but have a very weak core due to chronic skeletal neuropathy. I also have a hiatal hernia and no, this pain we are all describing is not from a hiatal hernia. I have also had surgery on my esophageal sphincter for serious GERD and am on a daily ppi as well as anti-seizure drug used to treat neuropathic pain. My stomach surgeon and my gastroenterologist looked into this in detail. I have had a CT scan as well as several other tests that have come back normal. This does not present as nerve pain as has been suggested in prior posts, as I am acutely aware of the characteristics of nerve pain having experienced it constantly for about 45 years. All this to say, my gastroenterologist does strongly suspect an abdominal wall muscle as the culprit. I was scheduled for a pain treatment/test to confirm before Covid 19 shut everything down but due to being terribly ill with a lung infection (I also have lung disease), had to have it postponed and now am waiting for it to be rescheduled. So, as soon as I have answers, I will pass on my update to you. And yes these are my symptoms: bending over I experience pain just below my bottom left ribs, a feeling of something rolling or twisting inside and the pain remains until it ‘rights’ itself- often with a feeling of fizzy bubbles at the end. Sound familiar? It also happens if I sit up quickly from a laying down position, or straining to reach something from a side angle.

Estokesnox · 11/06/2020 17:05

Omg! Same! Since I started having the sensation of something catching under my left rib cage, I'm now getting sharp pains to the back of my head, behind my ears, and jaw. I read up on a nerve that can cause a feeling like electric shock. Which is accurate. But i swear it's related to this rib thing. Any updates on your condition? How are you feeling these days?

Smann1976 · 28/06/2020 05:40

Did u ever find out what causes this. I have the same thing

Fixitbev · 26/07/2020 23:00

I have this! My daughter is now 14 I have had it off and on since she was born. I experience it when I bend over also. It hurts and takes my breath away. It makes me feel sick and a bit faint for a while. Wish I knew what it was.

princessTiasmum · 27/07/2020 11:48

I also get this on the left side, not especially painful though, only started happening recently,as if something clicks out of place and back in when getting up again

MFan · 07/09/2020 01:39

I realize this was 10 years ago, but did you ever get an answer for it?

MFan · 07/09/2020 01:43

Because I also have the exact same pain since my csection 3 years ago

joycesmith18 · 19/10/2020 22:46

Ever since I had an emergency c section my insides get caught when bending down or if I lift my leg in shower to shave my legs it gets caught o the right side but can also get caught on the right side too.. 12 years and no Doctor knows what I am on about But.. I had a CT scan which showed up gallstones under my right rib so I'm now wondering if it has been gallstones all along that's making my insides get caught.. I will keep you updated as I'm now getting taking seriously and am going to have a MRI next week.

Anoushka20 · 20/10/2020 14:48

This thread has been hugely reassuring that it isn’t just me! Did anyone find out what the sensation is? My doctor also seemed to not know. She said that sometimes we get these things and we don’t know why, which wasn’t helpful in any way!

joycesmith18 · 29/10/2020 16:21

I have this 12years since c-section.. I finally found a doctor that just happened to be a stand in for my own doctor who looks at me strange when I mention it.. Had Mri which shows gallstones under my ribs. Still having tests but this could be why I get a catching feeling under ribs when bending down..

Hello there. Ive been javing these same organ dlipping sensations as well but on my right sidem sometimes if im pushing too hard with my stomach muscles as i have endometriosis and sometimes need to move vody around and oush out big thicker clots so the pain is less. But also if i get in certai, positions like tying my shoe. But lately ive been feeling the discomfort of it more and more as i can feel it now as i lay dow not the twsting portion but the feeling of right before it happensm sometimes it hurts in this wierd way and i need to get up quickly to get to hurry and flip back. Its exactly what it feels like. As if you're organs are flipping and getting pinched in the process which automatically gives signals to your brain telling you to get out back to normal. Also now if i press down on it i can feel where,it usually happensm i habe a,spot mear,my lower rib and a,spot below that more towards rigjt side of uterus and then i feel in myright side of back as well. I also am heavyset but didmt used to be. I have endometriosis, Lupus, and Fibromyalgia. This only began happening consistently on a reg basis and even feel it under my right breast sometimes but behind the rib. Lol really hard to describe and not fun lol. When i see my dr hopefully sooner than later, i can confirm . Confused haha

Irishgal20 · 10/11/2020 20:36

I get this too, and my mum. All on the left hand side, under or just behind the ribs. The first time I got it I was in the car and bent down to the passenger footwell to pick something up and it felt like a muscle had popped out of place and before a minute was up everything went back to normal. I haven’t had it for a while but remember it similar to having cramp in your foot. I really hope someone has an answer for this, my doctor said he wouldn’t be able to tell me unless it happened in the surgery.

melapowers · 22/11/2020 15:31

hi there did anyone ever find out what this is?
I have it too and it’s awful.
happens when I cough, vomit, bend forward .

melapowers · 22/11/2020 15:48

two things I’m looking into are
“ slipping rib syndrome “ but that doesn’t seem exactly like what I experience
another thing I found is called “hepatic torsion with dislocation“

Cheekyybearr · 08/01/2021 22:07

Omfg I have experienced the same thing. Flipping organs, feeling like my lung has been trapped under my left rib which takes my breath away. I have to stand to readjust whatever it is and feeling bruised in that area for a few days. I only started having this sensation since having my son by csection 2 years ago. I have had another surgery on a unbilical hernia which since being pregnant has split which has left me with a weak core (which I am currently doing yoga to try and strengthen) hoping it helps all this.

I have had an ultrasound which came up with nothing (they where looking for a hernia in my diaphragm).
I still have this sensation from time to time and I can something be in bed and just looking at my phone and it will happen. I hope someone gets a diagnosis soon as it is very much a pain.

Bmadiss · 13/01/2021 02:35

Has anyone figured it out yet. Im so glade to see that Ima not along. My pain is Also on the left and happens if I bend stretch or twist the wrong way. Also when I do sit ups. Please let us know if any finds out?

Ifonlyiweretaller · 13/01/2021 21:15

I have had this pain, literally feels like my organs have folded up when I bend over to tie a shoe lace etc. I went to doctor and was told it was a floating rib, and there wasn't anything I could do but it wouldn't harm me. This was a few years ago and it rarely happens now - I have lost a couple of stone in weight since then but have no idea if that is relevant or not.

christinaland128 · 22/01/2021 23:31

I also experience this same “flipping”.

I have 3 children but didn’t experience this after my first pregnancy. My second pregnancy, twins, was pretty tough on my petite body. They were 6.5 lbs each.

After some time when my body recovered, I started exercising again. Whenever I did crunches, I felt the flipping down the right side mostly but experienced both sides. I also had to stretch and arch my back to alleviate the sensation.

Now 15 years later, I still experience this flipping occasionally. It had always deterred me from exercising, especially ab work.

Reluctantly, I started doing aerial classes last year and got very strong in a short period of time. I’ve definitely noticed a major improvement from exercise. I can honestly say exercise works. You just have to gain muscle again. :)

Heathermommaof5 · 25/01/2021 09:22

Hey all. Did anyone find out what this is? I have had it happen about 5 times in the last 2 years. Twice today!

Lofty14 · 27/01/2021 13:40

Omg someone else has this. I thought I was the only one! Did you get it checked out?
