'flipping' organs!!

Now you're probably thinking I'm off my rocker here but bear with me!

My DS is 3. Since I gave birth, I sometimes get a weird sensation in my chest/stomach which when I bend right over. The only way to describe it is that it feels like an organ or something is 'flipping'. It takes my breath away and I have to stand up carefully. Then I feel it 'flip' back into place. Usually there are no other after effects. Sometimes it leaves me a tiny bit tender in the area for a day or so.

Please, is there anyone else who has this sensation???!!!

Mine started do to injury (non penetrating) on the left and then after a year I feel I got “stuck” on the right.

Does any one else get thevfeeling it’s pulling your stomach out of place with any movement and affecting your breathing or bending twisting etc?

Hi my name is dody and i have some weird things happinging in my body that im ashamed to speak of thinging they'll put me in crazy house. For real. I feel like something is twisting inside from head to toe then all of a sudden it starts unwinding and just when almost there it starts winding again. Never stops. Winding is painful unwinding is comforting

This is only alittle part of whats going on. My organs flip then flip back something feels like it cuts through me while twisting. I have red srteaks show up like scratches from inside then go away. They tighten round my ankles turning them purple and swollen.

I’ve been working on this for a year...worked with the best traditional and non traditional DRs. SOME of this is fascial and you can benefit from osteopathic manual manipulation (Go see a DO). THE OTHER is nerve related. These are literal nerve symptoms. I’ve ruled out all musculoskeletal conditions and problems and rules out all actual organ issues. I am about to rule out vascularity and what we all think it’s ITS LITERAL STRUCTURAL NERVE symptoms. Some of it may be nerve damage or dysfunction but a lot may be actual nerve structure. In my case, I had a unique unnatural twisting contorting injury. Most of the people here have these symptoms after a surgery or an injury (light injury or severe). Problem with medicine is they don’t address the nerve structure as much as they do function with EMG testing.

There’s a test called an MRN. Literally an MRI of the nerves. Just like you would get an mri with contrast or angiogram to show your vascularity and look for tears compression etc...an MRN is the same for nerves. Problem is not s lot of DRs know about itbor order it even though it’s completely normal and accepted and offered at several hospitals. I’m currently down the line of seeing neuros and orthos back to back while I get EMGs begging for someone to send me for an MRN.

Just like you can fall and break a bone or dislocate a shoulder...same can happen for literal nerves as a structure.

I have the unwind and wind thing as well but in 2 parts of my body as per my injury so it feels like I’m getting pulled together or apart from the inside.

Please everyone I’m on this journey of suffering and going through every test and dr and treatment imaginable to solve this. Don’t give up. Look into nerves and talk with an osteopath. Some of this can be fixed manually with osteo manual therapy (very different than massage and pt) you need visceral manipulation. That will either solve it or lead you to the source . I used it as a pain reliever and diagnostic tool for the last year and now I’m narrowed down to what the actual cause is.

Tell me did you have a minor injury? Lift something too heavy? Twisted and felt something? Had a surgery?

"Slipping rib syndrome is a condition where the ribs slip away from their usual position. It occurs because the ligaments that help to hold the ribs in the correct place are pulled out of position, causing the ribs to shift."

I had gallbladder and appendix removed in 1983. Every since when I bend over to tie shoe, shave legs, pull up pants, etc. I get an immediate, excruciating pain on my right side right under my ribs. It feels like there is a muscle or something stuck. I can barely move to stand. Upon standing, I’ve had to literally hold still for 3-5 minutes or it will do it again. The best way to describe it is that it feels like a horrible “Charlie horse” in the muscle right under my rib. This started right after my surgery. I have always wondered if it is either muscles that moved due to missing parts and they now get caught on the edge of a rib OR.... I was told I have surgical clips that were left inside. I’m wondering if they could be getting caught or worse.... tearing loose. I’ve never asked my doc all these years. That’s over 30 years. Confused Maybe I should???

gmwilliams · 28/09/2019 23:08

I have been experiencing this, too. Much as described here. It only started a year ago or so. I'm nearly 62. Had 3 kids. Grandmothering two more, now, ages 2 and 4 with another due in December. I thought maybe my muscles are flabby and an organ is running afoul of my lower rib in certain positions. Seems to help if I work on strengthening my abs. About 20 lbs overweight, and all around the middle.

Danigirl86 · 21/10/2019 14:21

Anyone ever find out any answers with this? Ive had the same problem since ive had my 3rd and last child.

It happens when I'm bending over to far for too long. Located right under my left ribs something bulges out and it is painful and takes my breath away. I have to stand up slowly to get it to go back. I had a visit with a specialist last week. I thought it maybe a hernia but she didnt feel any weakening. I have bloodwork and a CT scan scheduled for next week.

QueSera · 18/11/2019 13:18

I have this exact same thing! "Something" gets "stuck" on my left side under my rib cage when I bend over (say to put on socks or shoes, doing yoga etc). It's really uncomfortable, I have to straighten up and kind of push things back into place! I don't like it!
Did anyone get any answers as to what this is, and if it needs medical attention? Thanks!

Wanderbander · 27/11/2019 04:37

Hello all, so I've been hoping I would find the right words to describe this for years... and finally i traded something similar to my problem... way before i was ever pregnant (mom of 4) i have had this issue where typically only if i bend over for more than 30 seconds... it just feels like my insides just roll up to the top of my chest in a what feels like a big knot and only of i stand and stretch up will it slowly move back down.this is so annoying yet s ary because o could never describe this to anyone nor did any doctors seem concerned.so happy to have seen this thread now i know better ways to describe this. "charlie horse in my abdomin" thank you all

Joshuajohnson25 · 07/12/2019 14:29

Hi I'm 32 now but my ordeal started at 20 years old a couple of months after giving birth to my 3rd child in 07 ..(C-Section) ....Of course I went to the doctor and was looked at crazy did all the tests for them to tell me nothing was found mind you I was 20 years old then much lighter then as far as weight was concerned ....fast forward to today and its much worse I'm always in pain on my right side between my ribs it feels like something gets stuck .....it takes my breath away and I must be very still while it feels like its throbbing like the way a heart beats ... After it settles down I'm left in pain and very sore in the area it feels like baby movements I even see movements when lifting my shirt .... It's great to know I'm not crazy but saddened that the Doctors aren't really listening to their patients.

Sgil214 · 27/12/2019 07:40

Yes!!! Omg this has been happening to me as well!!! Did you find out what it was? I’m calling mY dr tomorrow, it literally feels like something is rolling under my rib cage! The very first time it happened to me, I ended up with a bruise on the outside of my body it was pretty big too, about the size of a half dollar, it’s pretty scary!!

Mom2JMS · 29/12/2019 01:53

Hi, I just started searching for this whatever-it-is that has been an issue with me for many years. I don't know when it started, so I'm not sure if it has something to do with pregnancy or not (this for me happened many, many years ago too😊), but I sure would like to find an answer to this answers how to treat it.

For me, if I try to touch my toes from a standing position, I get what feels like a kind of Charlie Horse just under my bottom rib and a feeling like something is going to flip over in there and be really, really bad😨. I have to straighten up quickly so that it doesn't take hold and end up giving me more lasting pain. I am wanting to start to do stretches like the ones you do with yoga and improve my flexibility and balance, but this whatever-it-is problem has been hampering my progress, so I'm just wondering if you found anymore information on this and/or any ways to improve the situation.

mommylifeinnyc · 02/01/2020 01:02

so this is EXACTLY what happens to me. It has happened a few times. And this has ONLY happened to me a year or so after giving birth. Never felt this before.

This is clearly something post-pregnancy. Did you find out what it is? I so feels like a cramp and goes away once I straighten up. I have no idea where to look this up.

Highkaf · 08/01/2020 19:56

I feel exactly the same I bend over to the left and it feels like a rib is squashing an organ,it doesn’t hurt but is a really weird uncomfortable sensation.

Boeremamma · 14/01/2020 07:05

Same happend to me yesterday when I bended over..I actually thought I was stuck. It felt like my ovaries flipped over lol thats how low mine was and now I have some pain on my left side. Difficult to explain and almost no info on this on the web. So glad I found this page. Now I can sleep in peace lol

TBuell · 15/01/2020 22:32

I have had this since i had my youngest which is almost 12. The fist time it did it I was at a shoe place and bent over to try them on. I couldn't stand back up then it happen frequently. It had went away for a while until like 30 min ago when I bent over to stretch which is why I found this post. Mine is more in my right lower quadrant. I feel it twist then I have a big bulge I have to push and rub back into place. Now it is tender. Wish I knew what it is.

ZackSpacey · 05/02/2020 19:46

Ok. Bumping this up with one important tidbit: I am a man (never been pregnant) and I have this exact same issue! It started almost 10 years ago when I bent weird trying to get something under my car seat. It scared the life out of me.

It's happened on and off since then, with a brief break for a couple of years in the middle. I have been to see several doctors, specialists, and even a trip to the ER when it wouldn't stop (just kept rolling over and over). No one has been able to tell me anything, and they act like it isn't that big of a deal.

It affects my day-to-day life, to the point of definitely being a big deal for me. This forum is the first time I have seen someone be able to put the correct words on this. It literally just happened to me about 20 minutes ago when I bent to stop my son from breaking my printer. This one was very quick, as though it were just one smooth roll under my ribs on the left of my stomach.

I'm now thinking that the "break" in my 10 years may have been when I was treated for an ulcer, and taking meds for that. But possibly not. I DO KNOW that muscle relaxers do not help. Really wish I could get this diagnosed and treated. At this point, I'm scared to do certain workouts, yoga, pick things up from the ground, pretty much bend in general.

Barr75 · 17/03/2020 05:03

Did you ever find out what this was..... from what you described I am having the same experience. I've had this before years ago when I did yoga and recently I've started again.... it happens more now that I'm more flexible and can bend over further.
I know you posted this 10 years ago.

Barr75 · 17/03/2020 05:10

I have exactly the same thing.... it's not painful as such but tender after like I've been hit in the rib. But I too have a bulge as if one of my ribs or the muscle in between pops right out.
I wish I knew what it was... only happens on my right side.

KimPott1970 · 04/04/2020 03:03

I'm having the flipping organ sensation I'd I move wrong then it gets stuck. I have to painfully move around until it's unstuck and flips back over. It's happened to both sides under my ribs. Has anyone got an answer yet? This is painful and scary.
