For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

Spicy enchiladas sound lush. We've got sausages, cauli cheese, jp's and carrots tonight. I also wish someone would cook for me tonight.

DH would cook if I ask him too, but good lord it's painful. It takes HOURS and the kitchen is a bloody bombshell.

pointydog · 15/07/2009 16:35

what are jp's?

Guadalupe · 15/07/2009 16:43

I am having goats cheese and slow roast tomato tart with thyme and garlic and a herby lentil salad. I did a massive tray of cheerry toms earlier but I didn't slow roast them quite slowly enough. They are just baked really, but nice.

We have had a mini crisis in the last two days trying to decide whether to take dd out of the new junior with it's poky classroom and 35 children and send her to the local catholic school with huge classrooms and 22 children. Thing is, that was the only thing I liked about it. It didn't feel right, and we're not catholic so praying four times a day and posters of the pope throughout the school seemed a bit strange and rather hypocritical of us really.

I spoke to her current head about her daydreaming and how she'd cope with such large numbers and she said had we looked into petit mal epilepsy. I'll just add that to my list of things to google then.

I have put pounds back on, pounds I tell
you. It's all the bread. It's evil shit.

Guadalupe · 15/07/2009 16:43

jacket potatoes?

pointydog · 15/07/2009 16:46

you are all making such lovely teas and I feel bad because I've had loads of time this week and I'm still making the same dullsville meals.

gosh, is her daydreaming bad enough to make think of epilepsy? (not called petit mal anymore, though - head is out of date!)

pointydog · 15/07/2009 16:46

oh, jacket potatoes. I have never heard of jp's

Guadalupe · 15/07/2009 16:52

no I haven't heard them called jps either. I felt like cooking today, I have either eaten out or not bothered much with dinner this week. Very slack.

Well, I doubt it is that tbh. It's called absence seizures now isn't it? The day dreaming is quite bad in that she can't seem to finish anything, she just drifts off all the time but it doesn't look odd like I imagine a seizure might.

FrayedKnot · 15/07/2009 17:11

Ooh yes yummy food

I am poaching some salmon which was in the freezer and purchased before the Waitrose fish chat. 'Tis not wild, but I think we need to eat it

Just had some spinach felafel as a snack. They are yummy.

I hear SB has a job

Hoorah!!!!

Guadalupe · 15/07/2009 17:13

Hooray for SB!

I have eaten normal salmon. I have a short memory. Perhaps it's because I eat normal salmon.

I meant to say how nice your dress was, FK, and that you must WEAR it. No point in having a posh dress and never wearing it.

pointydog · 15/07/2009 17:34

hoorah for bunners.

How do you poach salmon, by the way? I could only buy frozen wild and so I'm baking it in the oven but I don't really know how you poach.

I feel very good buying wild. Although it is the first time I have ever bought fillets as no othe rpinty likes salmon

Guadalupe · 15/07/2009 17:45

I was swayed by that cold smoked stuff in the fishmongers today. Am fairly sure it wasn't wild but it was nice with dill sauce and a rocket salad.

pointydog · 15/07/2009 17:48

I am goin gto make mayonnaise tomorrow for the first time. ANyone made it? Is it easy?

MayorNaze · 15/07/2009 17:51

chicken fajitas tonight! and i made the tortilla wraps!

can i make a list in anticipation?

peppers
tomatoes
salad
courgettes

plus cauliflower and mushrooms from earlier

and i expect i might manage a bit more fruit as well

tis much easier in the summer

at epilepsy for daydreaming? if dd realises that she is daydreaming i wouldn't be going down that road meself...

also at pope posters, but that aside, if you think education will be better then go for it. a LOT of faux catholicism in my town to get into the only catholic primary school with the best rep out of all the schools

i am not one of the faux

glad you all seem to have had an ok day

MayorNaze · 15/07/2009 17:52

ooh ooh i make mayonnaise all the time! tis dead easy

plus you reminded me that i have also made coleslaw for tonight too so

cvabbage
carrots

i use rick stein recipe but essentially egg yolk, oil, leetle splash of vinegar and whick like the clappers

MayorNaze · 15/07/2009 17:52

whick???

WHISK!!!!!

pointydog · 15/07/2009 17:53

do you make it in a food processor or use an electric hand whisk or a balloon whisk?

I'd rather not get the food processor out (due to cleaning business)

MayorNaze · 15/07/2009 18:04

no no normal handwhick fine

gotta dash

peasants revolting

FrayedKnot · 15/07/2009 18:32

I lolol Pointy at the image of you having the perfectly equipped kitchen like Masterchef and then not using any of the equipment due to it needing washing up afterwards

Hooray for balloon whisks - I have alwyas been scared of mayonnaise. The making of.

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 15/07/2009 18:36

yes I meant jacket potatoes

Congratulations Bunny!!!

Making mayo? Blimey.

Guadalupe · 15/07/2009 20:01

We wouldn't need to pretend to be Catholic but they do expect your child to join in and for you to fully support the religious ethos of the school. I have decided it is not the right choice but I'm glad we looked into it.

My tart was very tasty but dripping with oil. Ooops. Dh will be home shortly with some wine and a flake.

moliereroger · 15/07/2009 20:03

agggh! Have just agreed to having 5 hyped up on junk food boys over on friday night. What have i done??

littlerach · 15/07/2009 20:06

womblingalong · 15/07/2009 20:29

Hello Veggers

Waves to all. Just marking thread, back after dinner.

OsmosisBanana · 15/07/2009 20:38

Guad, that sounds a right nightmare. Bit shit the head just dropping in that you consider looking into petit mal, how to make someone freak the fuck out no?

Moll, I'm taking him for a hot air balloon ride with champers, I have been squirreling away a soupcon ere and a soupcon there of my wages. Needless to say we will be living mostly on baked beans for a couple of weeks but he has had a chronically shit year and I haven't got him a decent present for a couple of years.

The tricksy bit will be not telling him, I have a tendency to get over excited by my cunningness and spill the beans.

All my friends are going to The Glade Festival this weekend. Not us though, no no, we'll be fighting the allotment. Boooooooo!!!!! Ah well, still a bit broken after Glasto.

OsmosisBanana · 15/07/2009 20:40

is Stuffit still around?
